Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Monika manages a very orderly, pristine guesthouse, dirty dishes are cleared promptly and she is ever attentive to guests' needs or queries. We appreciated how clean, cozy & well stocked her shared dining/kitchen area is, ample servings of cereal, milk, spreads etc... If you're looking for a homestay that goes beyond self check-in & check-out with a personal human touch, Holiday Guesthouse is the cozy stay for you in charming, serene Styykishholmur....also appreciated the Icelandic pronunciation lessons! "Rekyaveeek", "Veeek" & "Olasveek"....Takk Monika!! 🫶🙂 P/S : Bonus supermarket is literally in Monika's backyard....convenient! 😋

Facilities were cramped with all 3 bedrooms full, limited choices for breakfast of cereal only. All guests had to share 1.5 baths. Max of 10 in 3 rooms.
Rooms were comfortable, but double bed pushed against the wall in one room( We rented 2). Friendly host. Great coffee machine, guest refrigerator.

If there is anything to improve, a little electrical stove and some pots/pans could be provided.
Lovely helpful owner, with lots of recommendations and stories about the area. Everything you need is provided in the bath- and livingroom and and restocked perfectly. Also perfectly clean rooms and shared area's. There is a microwave as well, so having a simple dinner is good option.

great guest house, easy to find and very close to a grocery store. Monika was very nice and helpful planning our next days drive around Snaefellsness peninsula.

The many charging outlets were convenient. It was also nice not to have to do the dishes. The tips about the local pool were great!

We think if it's a full house which would be about 10 pers than one shower might not be enough.

The common area is a bit small, not much room for all guests to hang out there and have their own space, but it didn't bother us for 1 night. The kitchen area does not have a stove if you'd like to cook.
Nice host, very clean, comfortable room (comfortable bed!), good location right next to the supermarket, easy check in/out, clear instructions

Shared dining area was a little cosy, and we did not expect the rooms to be located off this shared space. It was fine but if other guests were loud it would be a bit uncomfortable

Shared living room was unfortunatly just outside others guest rooms so you cannot make any noise in the evening

There was a family staying there, that spread out and took up a lot of space, which is really rude. They put all their stuff in the shared living room, left all their food on the table. the host apologized the next morning for that incident. but it is not her fault. People just have to pay more attention to others so that everyone can enjoy the experience.
we had a clean room with comfy beds. there are two shared toilets, one of them with a shower, which is enough. There is also a microwave and refrigerator, some dishes. and tables where you can eat. Self check in.
