Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCould not control the temperature in the room. They controlled it. Water ran out of shower into bedroom. Light on bathroom mirror shined in your eyes at night, was bright even with glass door shut. No curtain on shower window.

United StatesThe sofa bed was small and uncomfortable. There was an extra twin bed in the room, but they wouldn’t give us bedding for it.
Wonderful staff. Angelica was very helpful. Breakfast was nice but expensive. We had thought we purchased it with the reservation but Booking.com site wouldn’t allow me to access the info, so we paid 3000isk each for breakfast

United StatesCottage was pretty small, bedrooms were small and bathroom was tiny.
We loved the setting of the farm - the cottage itself was basic but fine. Beds and bedding were very comfy. Breakfast area was very cute and breakfast was nice but no service - you serve yourself and clean your own plates. We did a horse ride here and it was amazing!

BelgiumSeems to be understaffed (which weights on the attitude of some staff members and cleanliness of the rooms), no door to the bathroom and no blind on the window (= difficult to sleep with midnight sun), quality of breakfast was ok-ish, the evening meal was never offered nor horse riding tours while it was just next door
Great location to explore the region, new bedrooms, horses around the hotel, possibility to have a late check in

United StatesThere was a noticeable smell in the bathroom. It seemed to come from the shower drain, and it was there the entire week. We notified the staff, who said they'd get someone to clean the drain, that it's a regular maintenance thing for green sewers (understandable). But they weren't able to fix it while we were there. At one point they had us drop off our key to the cottage at the front desk, so they'd be able to enter and inspect it while we were out and about. It surprised me that they didn't already have a spare key of their own. The black-out curtains in the windows are critical if you want darkness, to sleep through June nights. Unfortunately they're falling apart: the material is unraveling at the edges, and some of the pull chains don't work, so a tall person might have to wind and unwind them more slowly by hand. We borrowed a scissors from the front desk to snip some loose threads to unstick them. The induction cook-top works - it has a touch interface and there are no provided instructions, so ask a member of staff to demonstrate how to turn it on and off. However, we found that only the larger of the two skillets would work with it. The smaller one wasn't compatible. The induction cook-top can sense when there's something there that it can use. If a magnet will stick to the bottom of the skillet, it's compatible; if not, it won't. If you keep the curtains closed while the sun is up, they'll absorb those rays and get warm, heating the whole place up. If you want to cool the cottage off, you have to open a window. The staff recommended opening the windows during the day and closing them in the evenings. Thing is, there are flies about, and some are horse flies which will bite. We asked at the front desk for a flyswatter, but they didn't have one. We ended up shopping around, and finally found a store that sold flyswatters. We left it with the cottage for the next guests to use.
We wanted a bit of privacy and quiet for a week-long stay in Iceland, for a fair price, and Hestheimar delivered. We stayed in Cottage One, appropriately sized for the two of us; there's also a second bed that can be unfolded so it could work for a couple with two small kids. It kept us warm and dry. It has a bathroom with shower, a sink, a microwave, a half-height refrigerator (no freezer), an induction cook-top and a dishwasher, and some dishes and cooking implements. During June, Iceland's days are long and it doesn't really get dark at night. The cottage If you need laundry done, the front desk will wash & fold in an afternoon for 3,000 ISK (about $24). If you're on a budget, the ability to cook is critical; Iceland's restaurants are expensive (you can easily spend over $100 on a meal for two). There's a hot tub on the property, behind the main office building (shared with other guests, so make a reservation). If you like horses, there are some in a fenced field that's right next to the cottage. You'll sometimes wake up to the sound of their whinnies, and might see them just a few meters from your window. Hestheimar serves buffet breakfasts and dinners in the main office building, again for a modest fee per meal (and make a reservation in advance so they can plan). We didn't try the dinner, but breakfast includes fried eggs, bacon, beans, bread and jam, pancakes and syrup, fruit, cereal, juice, sliced meat and cheese, and even brownies. On days when we didn't have time to cook for ourselves and had no plans to dine out, this meant we were still very well fed.
