Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe shower tiles were a little slippery and they were higher in the shower which meant water gets all over the floor. I would have also appreciated instructions for the shower heads. Even though it wasn’t that difficult once figured out, it would have helped my jet lagged, southern hemisphere brain where showering is a bit different.

PortugalIt is in the attic, which can give a slight feeling of confinement, and there is no elevator — carrying heavy luggage up the stairs was not easy.
The apartment is very spacious, clean, and tidy, and is very well located, right in the center of Reykjavík. It offers all the facilities for cooking and, considering the prices in Iceland, it is a good option. It was also possible to find parking nearby (Zone P2), which was very convenient.

ItalyTwo downsides: the area is full of nightlife, so it can be noisy until 5am – earplugs recommended as the place isn’t soundproof. Also, parking nearby is tricky: close spots are all P1 (expensive, max 3h), but a 5-min walk gets you to P2 with more affordable rates.
Nice little apartment with a fully equipped kitchen (two induction hobs, kettle, Nespresso machine). Beds are fairly comfortable, there’s a small table, good space overall. Bathroom a bit dated with limited shelves but functional. Location is super central.

FranceDifficult to find the hostel (google show another building and sign is almost not visible). We got the entrance code but the key pad was not working well. Windows isolation was not good and you could hear everything from the outside.
Located in the city center. Host was helpful. Nice and clean room.

United StatesWe were warned ahead of time that there is no elevator and stairs are definitely steep.
Very spacious room, especially for Iceland and the price. Well stocked kitchenette area. Great location. We were there on a Sunday evening and did not have any noise issues. A weekend night could be different. We did not need a car and could walk to all the sites.

GermanyAt first sight, it was a bit difficult to find, because the address on the booking site was without the street number, so that we had to search it on our own. Check your mails from the Guest Heart House because there the street number is mentioned. To find a good parking spot was unfortunately a bit challenging. As we’ve found a parking lot around it by hazard, the fee for parking was higher than expected. You have to pay between 9AM and 9PM and you can park maximum for 3 hours, which costs around 12 Euros.
The apartment was really clean and really well located, so directly in the city Center of Reykjavik with lots of good restaurants, bars and bakeries around it. The check-in went smooth and the Guesthouse has nice amenities.

AustraliaStairs to our room were dangerously steep. I needed help to get my bags up all the stairs and a bit scary going down. No plugs in any sinks Large skylight let in too much light - made it hard to sleep
Great location on the heart of old town - close to one of the ports and close restaurants and bars. Grocery store was also close. Good kitchen and cooking facilities

PolandGreat location, very close to the center and the bus stop near the city hall, convenient for various tours, and a walking distance to Iceland University; nice design, coffee machine with capsules; friendly and helpful owner. On weekends at night it got noisy outside (as described on the website), but not as bad, as I thought; very comfortable beds.

United StatesThe shower was a bit difficult. The soap rack fell several times and the rain/overhead shower dripped cold water while the hand shower sprayed wildly. Hard to prevent water from going everywhere due to the short curtain which made the floor very slippery after shower. Could be our fault though. The pans provided did not seem to work with the stove top- again, that could be user error. It’s our first time using that style of kitchen.
Location was great during the day but not ideal at night as it was the weekend and people were out partying all night due to the unusually nice weather during our stay. One of the women that was cleaning our room before our stay brought our bags up for us which was amazing. I really appreciate her help.

United KingdomI would just suggest a few points to improve the stay. - adding tea towels as there is no dry rack in the kitchen - another set of towels for stays of more than 6 days - better instructions regarding the bins collection - the bathroom gets completely flooded while showering (maybe a glass door at the shower instead of a curtain) - A bathroom cabinet or shelves would make life easier with toiletries
The location is fantastic and close to a lot of restaurants and pubs. Shower was great (we just used a brush to clean a bit the “sprinkles” as there was water going sideways, but overall really good). Small kitchen was great for preparing some food

Great guesthouse in the centre of Reykjavik. It’s a little noisy but you’re right in the centre, so it’s bound to happen! The room was very clean and we had everything we needed for three days in the city. Can’t get over the location either. For me it’s a 9/10.

GermanyBathroom is tiny and has no window or shelf space, at least a cabinet under the sink would've been helpful to put your stuff. The kitchen is missing tea mugs, the coffee cups are too little for tea. It's very noisy outside the building, some sort of machine is running all night long, there are a lot of people and drunks around even on weekdays, delivery trucks start beeping and loading right in front the building from 6 am. The door lock sometimes only worked after several tries.
Kitchen had everything you need. They even provided capsules for the coffee machine. The location is within walking distance from most sightseeing spots.
