How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt is a very spacious place, very convenient for large groups. It is in the middle of a huge plain and as quiet as can possibly be. Close to major attractions in south east Iceland.
We did not know that the dryer, unlike North America's, had a drawer that filled out with water and needed emptying. We also were not sure how to lock the door (we needed to turn the handle in order to lock).

Verified reviewFor a group of 6 - 10 people, Eagle Rock is ideal and even more so if you love horses. There are about 15 beautiful horses on the property. The home is very comfortable and has a wide open view. However, it is in a remote location and takes about 20 minutes to drive to it from the Ring Road. The last 5 minutes of the drive are on a gravel road. There are 4 bedrooms and one full bathroom and one half bathroom that has a washer and dryer in it. The kitchen/ dining and living room are one big great room with a large TV and a comfy sectional sofa.
There are two negatives. The home has radiant heating and it is set at 74 degrees fahrenheit. This temperature is very warm for sleeping in July. We were reluctant to open the windows because there are no screens and there were bugs at night. We did open the windows during the day. Also, the hosts did not provide any paper towels. All the other apartments/cottages we stayed at provided paper towels.

Verified reviewEaglerock guest house will forever be in our hearts. We visited for two nights on our on the road trip as a group of 10. The house has been recently renovated and everything was perfect and neatly cleaned. We loved the interior design, the living room with huge windows, the back patio. We saw our first Aurora here. It was magical. Bjorn was a super responsive host and helped us with his suggestions on how to hunt for norther lights. Thank you again!
Nothing.

Verified reviewBeautifully located in the middle of nowhere, wonderful silence in the surroundings
Fridge was smelly and dirty. Kitchen floor was dirty upon arrival. One of the four rooms is really small - just holds a bed and a chair, suitcase does not fit in. This was the most expensive accommodation during our Iceland tour. The high price was not justified by the value provided in return, especially if compared with other places.

Verified reviewCalm place since is very offroad and far away from the main services. Quality-price relation good for the general Iceland properties. Guest was nice and was waiting for us to give us information and the keys. House was big enough for our group of 9
Oven was extremely dirty as well as the rest of the house, they should pay more attention to the cleaning since we were travelling with 2 family members suffering from ashtma that were suffering from ashtma attacks during our stay. The mattresses and sheets had clearly not been properly cleaned since there was dust. We give much importance to stay in clean and cozy places and this property has it all to be great just need to work on the cleaning.
Hi, this is extremely unfair review, I am sorry the oven was not clean enough - that's on me, how ever the house it self was not dirty, I am sorry about your two family member with asmha, the area around us is loaded with ash and when it gets windy there is no stopping it from getting in anywhere,it's in the air, grass and the car when driven away so possibly did that tricker their asmha if vulnerable, the sheet were definitely cleaned properly, I am sorry it was not up to your standards. Hope you had better luck elsewhere

Verified reviewSpace, location, great wifi, mud room, washer and dryer. Kitchen, living room. Views forever. Owner was helpful and responsive. Really enjoyed this beautiful home.
Couldn’t figure out how to lock the doors. (Owner told me later) might want to add that to instructions. Wind was wicked and howled through house. But I’m sure every house heard it that night! Pillows were small and lumpy. Fresh ones would be nice.

Verified reviewThe location was exactly what we wanted. It was quiet, private, and the first night we stepped out the front door and watched the Northern Lights which was awesome! It also put us half way between 2 locations we wanted to see so everything was perfect. We were a 3 generation family of 5 guests and it felt like a second home. The owners were warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I strongly recommend Eaglerock Guesthouse.
I cannot think of a single negative.

Verified reviewA little off the ring road-but it offered the space and comfort we needed for two days.
It was a ‘drive’ to get to the property.

Verified reviewHouse was nice and new. Location was great - - a bit remote so be sure that's what you are looking for. Nice horses and sheep and beautiful surroundings. Close to a few well known attractions. A good base from which to take day trips.
If we could be a bit picky: here was only one toilet, which is inconvenient given the number of bedrooms.

Verified reviewThe location is amazing in the middle of nature and no noise from roads or anything. The apartment is very cosy and spacious. Big kitchen and comfortable beds. The bathroom was very clean.
There was floor heating, but nu possibility of turning the temperature down. It was way too hot inside to sleep.
