Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IcelandLovely place on the end of Iceland. I had lucky to not sharing with someone red small cabin. If your like walking, go to historical herring factory. Of you.wanna drive, go to Norðurfjörður, the road is masterpiece. Of course with fog is cozy, but with rain - no.

FinlandBe wary about gasoline when traveling here, its not far from gas stations put the place itself didn't seem to have any. They had recharge for electric.
Old but idyllic place almost end of the rd. 643. This is no passing trough destination. I suggest you are atleast 2 nights so you can truly explore the hotel itself and the surroundings. We were welcomed right away, provided free tea and coffee ♡ In the evening went for dinner and the meal was perfection. I honestly had my best food in this location on my 9 day travel. I can't put a bad thing in this review about this place, even if I wanted to, it was just so good.

Stunning location, quirky comfortable hotel. 2 bathrooms with separate toilets (we didn’t experience any queues in the mornings), clean rooms, comfortable bed. Really good food for dinner, nice breakfast. The owner showed us around the old herring factory which was fantastic. Very interesting history and worth a visit by itself. This area of the Westfjords (I call it the Best Fjords) is insanely beautiful. So worth a visit if you have good driving skills and a 4x4. Very much enjoyed our visit to Djúpavík.

United StatesSmall rooms, but we just left our big luggage in the car and brought in what we needed for the night. Definitively not a deal breaker.
Very cozy! The rooms are small, and its dormitory style bathroom down the hall, but it wasn’t bad. There’s a sink in the room and urs such a small hotel that the bathroom was always empty when I went in. The staff were very friendly, and the food downstairs was fabulous. The fresh bread was addictive. Lots of small seating areas to sit and relax. We also really enjoyed the free modern art exhibit in the old herring factory next door. It’s a good location for visiting Krossneslaug. Totally worth the long drive to get there!

IcelandThere would be nice to have wifi outside the main house, but it was excellent...
Old rustic small 2 Horse town, literally, it is agent fishing village out in nowhere. If you want to experience how the Icelandic people did live in the olden times, go visit. It is not a 5 star luxury hotel, but it what it lack in stars it excel in experience. But beware, there's really no cellular in this area, and the free wifi is only in the main house, but after all you are not there to hang on facebook or twitter, you are there to smell the ocean and experience how the natives did live, or you might just need a bed for the night or 2, so it is perfect. Be sure your car is up to the task, because you are not driving on asphalt, but rather gravel road that are barely hanging on to the cliff, and be sure to have spare tire or 2. And drive slow, the Sheeps with lambs will jump in front of your car out of nowhere. But if you drive to slow the ghost of the people who have died walking between towns at winter time and died might try to get in your car.

We loved this place from the stories of the fishing industry and visiting the factory to seeing how the family ploughed their time energy and passion into restoring the herring factory for future generations. This place is a gem and worth the deviation off the beaten track. Our fave place we stayed in 2.5weeks in Iceland. Great food too.

Loved this hotel and village! So quirky and so much history. The hotel was jam packed with mementos. Really moved by the Herring factory tour especially stories of personal experiences there. Such dedication to a cause. Isolated and beautiful. Lovely dining room and food. Kind and attentive, helpful staff. Loved everything about being here.

United StatesOnly one gender shower & WC for all the rooms upstairs.
The hotel has personality and character in terms of its decor. One can just spend time scanning the antique-level items that are placed throughout the dining room and seating areas. The beds were comfortable. There was a sink in the bedroom which was very convenient. We were invited to an art exhibition that was being held in the defunct herring factory (owned by the same family that owns this hotel). It was interesting to view this factory and enjoy the art exhibition. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast was super, with home made breads (several types), home made yogurt, cheese, ham, salami, slices of hard boiled eggs, tomato slices, juices, sampling of herring (natural and with curry sauce), jams, etc. The dinner was very satisfying - baked butter cod and oven roasted chicken in parmigiana sauce. Both were really tasty.

AustraliaPart of its charm was the age of the building and therefore not to the usual motel experience. This was more than made up tho by its character . Just don’t expect ultra modern stuff
The remote location provided spectacular views on drive in .Gravel road and not for everyone who does not like big drop offs etc but stunning scenery. very authentic family run hotel steeped in fishing industry history. Very friendly staff. This was the most unique place we stayed at while in Iceland

IcelandHaving to leave after one nights stay. Lot's of beautiful spots to visit at this remote area...The Krossanes swimming pool and the only grocery shop Verslunarfélag Árneshrepps, Norðurfirði among many beautiful natural spots. At Gjögur there is an airport served from Reykjavik airport. Highly recommend area to visit all the year around 🙏🏻🌿
Very warm ambience...old style hotel, yes...and that's why I love the place and will return...and again and again also for the very good special Icelandic selection of things to choose from the menu: Among which delicious land fillet from the area and/or cod loin. Perfect selection of red wine from three different countries is a sign of harmonious taste knowledge too. There's also possible to have a simple ice-cream for dessert ❤️ if you're not ready for a pieces of deverse different cakes. Again the ambience dining at the restaurant is something one cannot explain in words ❤️

NetherlandsFriendly staff, laid-back atmosphere, excellent food, wonderful historic building. And of course dramatic nature (the weather was a bit choppy when I was there so the water in the waterfalls blew upwards instead of falling down.) I had the best time lazing about, reading, doing the jigsaw puzzle and eating good food in the common room during a storm. I heartily recommend booking a tour in the old factory.

United StatesLocation was amazing! I loved the fact that it was in a lonely place and extremely peaceful and calming. As soon as you enter you feel like walked back in time. the little nick knacks around kept the stay interesting. Talking to locals and staff was easy and fun to talk to. The bedrooms were absolutely adorable, clean and organized. The shared bathroom was clean and smelt great! I would absolutely love to go back and stay again.
