Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaIt is not so near to the airport you have to take a taxi and it cost 40 - 50 euro or wait a long long time for a bus and after to walk to the location 12-15 min it will take almost 1 hour and more to reach the destination by bus. So when you book, take into consideration the cost for taxi. Batter choice is the city near the airport , easy to be reach by bus . Or place exactly at the airport. The rooms are very, very small 7- 8m2 . Common toilet and shower .We thought the hostel was exactly at the airport, but it was actually 8 km distance from it. And the taxi is very expensive. The price is too high !
It is clean , safe, and quiet !

United KingdomI had been aware of the shared bathroom situation from reading previous reviews. I really feel this should be part of the information when booking. It is made very clear there is a shared kitchen but no mention of a shared bathroom (1x toilet and 1x shower and toilet) between 4/5 rooms. The bathrooms were clean and suciffient, I would advise showering late at night so you dont get the morning rush. The only issue is that the lights work on a movement sensor, which meant the lights kept going off during showering. Accommodation is best if you have hired a car, taxi is about 5000 ISK from the airport so a bit pricy as there is nothing else near the guest house. It looks a bit unsafe as it is on open land looking a bit industrial, however I didn't experience any issues.
Accommodation was clean and comfortable, easy self check in, although it took a minute or 2 to realise the key pad was on the door as it didn't light up until it was touched. Towels provided which wasn't expected. Tea and coffee are available, although no milk.

United Statesit was clean until some guests began treating it like their home and leaving their swimsuits to dry across heaters in the communal bathrooms. Generally, I avoid shared bathrooms and dislike the very idea, but in Iceland everything is so unreasonably expensive that I was forced to book a room without one.
Quite nice in some ways: easy to find, safe, good coffee and snacks provided, very comfortable bed. Easy to arrive by public bus 55 from the airport car rental parking lot, you get off at Keilir and walk 15 minutes to the guesthouse.

AustraliaI saw the coffee machines and was looking forward to my nice coffee in the mornings Didn’t work !!! I did all the usual trouble shooting to no avail. Also, there is no one present. We had only data and could not ring a taxi. Very stressful. Owner not helpful suggested Apps . These don’t work without a phone number and web booking didn’t get us anywhere. Hotel is not in walking distance to airport and taxi costs around appr 40-70 euros !!! ( for 6 kms). Better off to book hotel in walking distance, pay extra hence factor taxi cost in!!!
Nice set up. Comfortable beds Small kitchen

GermanyThere are two bathrooms of the floor (4 rooms) but it was never overoccupied, so okay, but still no bathroom in the room. Just be aware of it.
It was a good place nearby the airport, though it was very quiet overnight. The best place to be fast in south-west part of Iceland. Convinient and family friendly

Finlanda justified option if the flight is at night, otherwise it is better and more comfortable to look for accommodation options in Reykjavik, since both public transport and FlyBus run frequently and in a wide range. The guesthouse is not bad, and probably the most affordable, 6 km to the airport, the kitchen is small, the shower requires cosmetic repairs, since the shower mixer does not work properly. And a strange motion sensor system, it turns off very quickly and it is inconvenient to wash.

United KingdomWe struggled a little bit with the lock (we had a self check-in) but after we figured it out it was all fine.
Very nice and pleasant guesthouse. The facilities are clean and quite comfortable. The shared bathroom has everything you need, and the other guests were quiet and polite. Communication with the owners was very easy. Proximity to the airport is a plus but we recommend taking a taxi.

United KingdomDecent black out blinds in rooms - perhaps instead of the overly huge TV in room 211. Provide the small pots of UHT milk in the kitchen for tea/coffee. Delonghi coffee machines are unreliable and needed the staff to get one working. A sheet on wall with some trouble shooting instructions would be good.
Great location and interesting history. Kitchen facilities really comprehensive. Huge televisions in the rooms - which are probably unnecessary.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaPretty close to the airport, but have in mind that taxi will still cost around 40$. If you’re starting your Iceland road trip; there are plenty of items which you can pick up from the common kitchen and use it during your trip (salt, oil, cereals..)

United KingdomIt’s simply the way it is but the self check-in does make the stay a bit less welcoming. We also couldn’t figure out if the coffee machine was broken or we didn’t know how to use it, but that is easily fixable.
Super close to the airport but there was no noise. Comfy bed and well equipped kitchen for simple meals (loads of bowls, cutlery and condiments). Good idea if your flight is early in the morning.
