Everything was amazing! Our hosts were kind, informative, fun and super welcoming. The home shined with cleanliness and every attention to detail. Breakfast combined coziness with unbelievable selection including homemade bread daily, baked goods and jams. Just a few minutes drive to Akureyri and lots to do in NE Iceland.

The host and hospitality were exceptional. The breakfast was homemade that morning. Very quiet location. I would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area. Very close drive to town.

The guesthouse is owned by a nice couple, they live on the property. They made sure I felt comfortable and welcome. The place was very homey. The wife prepared a nice breakfast which was included in the price.

The accommodation is a marvel, a luxury located next to Akureyri, the location is superb. Hrefna, the hostess, is charming and is super attentive that guests are happy. She makes breakfast daily and everything is homemade, I think it is one of the best I have ever tasted. There was one day that we could not enjoy it because we had an excursion and Hrefna prepared it for us to take away with us. Everything is very clean and the accommodation has a hot tub. We could also leave the car in front of the house. Regarding the decoration I must say that it is magnificent, it is a very cozy accommodation and the quality of the beds is very good. All in all, top marks to Hrefna, her husband (who is also very charming) as well as to the accomodation.

Personal service very clean, beautiful home with homemade breakfast, which will fit any diet restrictions. Wonderful conversation and wealth of knowledge as far as things to do and see in the area. If you’re looking for homemade bread, fresh made coffee, juices, and jams made from scratch. This is the diamond that you are seeking.

We just wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks for such a truly memorable stay. You were absolutely delightful hosts—so welcoming, thoughtful, and full of wonderful conversation. It felt less like a visit and more like staying with old friends. The outdoor tub fed by the hot springs was nothing short of magical. Soaking under the open sky with the warm water and serene surroundings was an experience we’ll never forget. It was the perfect way to unwind and connect with nature. And breakfast—wow! Every bite was delicious, and the care you put into it was evident. Sharing stories and chatting with you over the morning meal was one of the highlights of our stay. Thank you again for your warmth and hospitality. We’re already dreaming of our next visit!

Very friendly welcome by the host. Sweet guesthouse, hearty homemade breakfast. Well-located near Akureyri.

Everything was extraordinary. Even if you don’t like guesthouses (because of the shares bathrooms), you’ll like this better than a 4-star hotel. Arni personally build the house from the ground up, and Hrefna decorated it impeccably. Breakfast was both exemplary and unique. It felt like home, or staying with friends, except that my home and my friend’s homes are not this nice.

It’s our second time at Ásar - We have the most wonderful time at this guesthouse. The room was spotlessly clean, warm, and incredibly comfortable — exactly what you need after a day of exploring Iceland’s rugged beauty. The hosts were absolutely fantastic and truly couldn’t do enough for us — warm, welcoming, and full of great local tips. They even asked if we wanted the hot tub filling for our return after long days. The lounge spaces are inviting, comfortable and decorated with care. Breakfast each morning was fresh, generous, and delicious — easily one of the best we’ve had while traveling. Homemade, granola, breads and cakes are a real treat. And the hot tub was wonderful, it was speck free of the tiniest debris, which in itself is an achievement. This place feels more like staying with thoughtful friends than just a guesthouse. Can’t recommend it highly enough — we’ll definitely be back! We love it, it will become our ‘go to’ if we’re in the area.

This is the best guesthouse we’ve ever stayed in. The hosts are incredibly kind and hospitable, making it a wonderful experience to spend time with them. The breakfast was delicious, and every single item in the house has a warm and unique charm, making you feel like you're in a movie or a museum. I highly recommend this place!

I stayed here when I traveled through Iceland the first time and it was the first guesthouse I booked for the second time. The hosts are amazing and make you feel like you are visiting friends in their home. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy, they have a hot tub with great view of the northern lights (if you are lucky) and still serve the best breakfast in Iceland. Hope to come back here to stay for longer.

One of the best bed and breakfasts we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many in many countries. The location was quiet and off the beaten path so when we had a clear sky we had our first of four sitings of the Northern Lights. Breakfast was outstanding and we had dinner with the hosts as well for a very reasonable price. Arnie and Hrepna were terrific hosts. Would stay with them again in a heart beat

I have stayed in many five star hotels around the world and none compare to this beautiful guesthouse. You walk into a cosy homely heaven. All the breakfast is homemade and the most beautiful home decor at every turn. We had two children with us and made to feel very welcome. No one should spend one night definitely atleast two and it will be your favourite accommodation the whole holiday.
