Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Maybe a kettle would be useful for the travelers if you don't offer the breakfast.

The room was not cleaned when we came in as everything was dusty including bedsheets. The bathroom tabs were continuously leaking water which made it humid and smelled unhealthy. There were small ants going around in the bathroom and in the room. In summary, the room was dark and humid and smelled unhealthy. We spent most of our time on the beach.
Very close to the beach and very nice staff . The place itself has good potential, but it is unfortunately lacking care.

When we came back at night we didn't have any water supply in the rooms and it was too late to wake up the caretaker. That was the only drawback. Rest of the stay was very satisfactory.
We spent a single night here and the facilities provided were a great bargain for the price we paid. The location is great. The beds were comfy and the room cool.

Minimum facilities like a water bottle was not provided from the hotel. Very bad hotel. I never booked such a bad accommodation from booking.com. There are so many near by hotels with good facilities at the same price.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming accommodation close to the beach in Kottavam, and I couldn't be more delighted with my experience. From the moment I stepped into the premises, I was captivated by the serene ambiance. The establishment boasts a beautiful setting, and the proximity to the beach only adds to its allure. The clean and well-maintained room exceeded my expectations. One of the standout features of this delightful haven is the excellent internet service. For someone who values a reliable connection, this was a major plus, ensuring I could work online. The true highlight of my visit, however, was the warm-hearted owner, Isa, Isa's genuine hospitality and commitment to ensuring her guests have a memorable stay are truly commendable. Her passion for hospitality is evident in every detail, making the entire experience personalized and delightful. Isa, who also owns an organic shop, was a wealth of knowledge when it came to recommending the best products. I found her recommendations to be invaluable. The accommodation provides a communal kitchen, adding a homey touch to the experience. Being able to prepare own meals or tea was a welcome convenience. For those seeking a holistic experience, the rooftop yoga hall is a wonderful addition. Free to use and equipped with mats, it provided a tranquil space for self-reflection and exercise. They also offere daily yoga classes offered in the morning. In conclusion, my time at this beachside haven was an absolute pleasure. I am immensely grateful for the warm welcome extended by Isa and the thoughtful amenities provided. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat in Kottavam, complete with a gracious host, clean accommodations, and a touch of wellness, this place is an absolute gem.

There was literally nothing that I didn't like.
Amazing Vibes here. Right from the moment I stepped in the house, it was all very well managed by the staff. Place is clean and the location is just perfect. Get out of the gate and you are on the beach. Very welcoming people and had a good time celebrating the New Year. Definitely a place to be if you are in Kovalam.

- no reception space in zen house.. no staff received us... neighbour opened door and showed us room.... - then no staff showed up till next day evening... to check us in and to get payment. he wanted to charge govt tax twice...ie total 3800+ but paid Rs 3528 as per deal - after insisting on the agreed rate from booking. after that he never showed up even while departing today morning. (we phoned him and informed we are departing and left room key on room) - no toilet paper in toilet... no water in bathroom...no drinking water in room... no staff to request for these things. 😩 _ Outside window is garbage dumping site that smelled horrible.
Owner called us several times to ensure that we are coming. (..requested to deposit advance amount several times... which we could not as I did not have digital wallet) Green (climber plant) at lobby...( ..trying to keep garbage filled open space there)
