Vatsalyam felt like home! Our stay was very comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The balcony with a beautiful view of Shimla hills was cherry on top. Even though it's outside the city center, the cabs were arranged for us by Asheesh at an affordable price. The homemade food prepared by Aunty was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the stay for everyone especially for someone who's coming to Shimla for the first time. We had a great time! Loved the chit -chat with uncle and will miss their dog (Uno)

We loved our time in the Sharda Family Homestay. It’s in a beautiful location. The home is very comfortable and clean. The food is the best food we have had in India. The family are welcoming and warm. We particularly enjoyed our talks with Mr Sharda.

We stayed at the homestay for 3 nights. Rarely have we experienced such hospitality and kindness as we received from Asheesh and the rest of the family. They were willing to aid and assist us in every request, provided incredibly tasty meals and offered a kind of soulfulness that you rarely come across. I cannot recommend this home stay enough! Thank you for making our birthday celebrations such a memorable experience.

Everything about the property was perfect for our stay.

The property was spotless, our room was spacious with a large scenic balcony. The bathroom was modern. Breakfast was varied and beautifully home cooked. We ate there each evening and thoroughly enjoyed the vegetarian food served to us and the company of Surinder our host’s father. Asheesh and his family were gracious hosts. We were delighted to meet them and to be their guests. We arrived as strangers and left as friends.

An extremely lovely homestay away from the noise and crowds but close enough to Shimla to enjoy day trips. We all thoroughly enjoyed the wide range at breakfast and the delicious homec cooked evening meals. The rooms are very comfortable with lovely balconies from which to enjoy the wonderful sunsets. A big thank you to the hosts for their hospitality and for sharing their local knowledge and books with us. A fabulous homestay, thank you.

Our visit was perfect. Asheesh and Ranjana are the perfect hosts. They are very friendly, really helpful with advice and organising our trips. Great to chat to and overall a delightful family. Our room was spotless, comfortable and the Outside terrace was perfect to sit and take in the stunning views! We had delicious dinner each evening, served by their lovely young helper who had a gentle disposition. The icing on the cake was their sweet and friendly Labrador dog, who loves to greet you and bring you a toy, with the best waggy tail ever! Thank you to the whole family Jane and Manni 🙏

The property was down a steep and windy road , it was necessary to take a taxi to reach the centre , the family organised this for you though .

Vatsalyam is very conveniently located just at the fringe of Shimla, about 4kms from Mall road. Asheesh was very helpful during my short stay in helping me with transportation and making me feel at home. Nice vegetarian food served with utmost care towards hygiene added to my comfort.

Beautiful Location with a forest view and an open terrace attached to my room. Being a solo traveler , I was very comfortable staying with Sharda family as the really made me feel at home. The food was delicious and was served in the main dining area. Asheesh help me with the transport at a very reasonable rate. I am definitely visiting again with my family for a longer duration.

Everything about the homestay is beautiful. The view from the room is absolutely surreal with a beautiful garden. Host is super cooperative and courteous. Rooms are super spacious and family room with an additional room for kids was icing on the cake. Clean and tidy rooms. As mentioned Mr. Sharda is very much cooperative and in fact entire Sharda family is very soft spoken and cooperative. Highly recommended for families. Food was excellent. It was a perfect start to our trip to Himachal and also it is a perfect example how a Homestay should be. Thank you Sharda Family for such a fantastic hospitality.

The only drawback that I would like to quote is the distance from the city centre but that is also a blessing in disguise as it provided a quiet and serene atmosphere.

We stayed at Vatsalyam for 3 nights. Lots of positives to write about. 1. Mr. Ashish is a wonderful host who took care of all our needs including arranging CABs for pick up from Chandigarh airport, local sightseeing, dropping at railway station and even helped planning the sightseeing itinerary. Since we were new to Shimla, it helped us a lot to stay tension free on planning the sightseeing and saved us a lot time. 2. Sumptuous Breakfast with a healthy and tasty spread. They ensured that there was always a paratha variety, porridge, cereal, cut fruits and bread / toast with butter and jam. Dinner was even better and at a nominal cost. Each dinner had soft and hot rotis, one paneer gravy, one dal, one sabji, steamed basmati rice, curd and pickle. The dinner was also concluded with a yummy dessert. The local delicacy Mahani served on our last evening dinner was top notch. We had requested for gobi sabji for all 3 days for our kid and they readily accepted our request. 3. Hot Tea and coffee were served 3 times a day. 4. Laundry was available at a nominal price. 5. There was a mini library to entertain guests with a voracious reading habit. 6. Mr Ashish and his family met and greeted us everyday without fail and enquired about the stay and facilities provided. 7. They always ensured the dining area was neatly set and fully prepared before any meal and on time requested. 8. And finally, the one thing that we booked this homestay for, didn't disappoint us - The balcony view of the valley. It was a sight to behold.
