Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a truly wonderful experience at The Fern Hotel. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of city life, it offers the perfect retreat for those seeking calm and peace. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and highly professional, making us feel well cared for throughout our stay. Every service was outstanding, with cleanliness and hygiene maintained at the highest standards. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spotless and well-kept, adding to our comfort. The breakfast was excellent, rounding off what was an absolutely delightful stay.

We really enjoyed the widespread breakfast, which included both Kerala delicacies and healthy options. The restaurant staff was especially considerate—offering a complimentary dessert and salad during one of our dinners, and even packing an early breakfast for our daughter before our flight. The hotel staff also guided us well on nearby travel options, helping us avoid city traffic. While the location is a bit secluded, it felt very safe. Just a note: the access road isn’t well-lit, so it’s best to avoid late-night strolls.

United KingdomMattresses could do with a topper and softer cotton pillows as an alternative to duck feathers.
We stayed in the deluxe room which was nice- the staff were very accommodating and laundry service was excellent; very efficient- washed and dried within a few hours.

United KingdomMore towels at pool required. The afternoon tea isn’t as described. A cup of tea and a minuscule piece of cake isn’t worth the bother. This is a dry hotel which we were unaware of. The hotel is in an unusual location and transport is required to get anywhere.
The pool is excellent. Their cleaning of clothes was well done and speedy. The staff were attentive especially in the restaurant. Restaurant food very good.

FranceNoise insulation is so-so (could hear tv from the adjacent room, and people talking in the corridor, but I am very sensitive to noise). The management kindly gave us a room far from the pool and family rooms, so it was still very quiet at night. Some small details: lamp shades were stained, bath's door did not close properly and water leaked on the bathroom's floor. Overall, I think this hotel's current rating at 8.5 is appropriate. I attached a picture of the complimentary "high tea" which was a bit of a disappointment (and it took 20 minutes to have it served).
Nice hotel with a beautiful pool, although as some reviews mentioned, the rooms are a bit dated (but clean). Our room was spacious with lots of storage space, which would make it appropriate for a multi nights stay (unfortunately, we only stayed 1 night). The breakfast spread is incredible, for this price point (62€/night for 2 pax). Dosas made to order were excellent, crispy and light. I would stay there again just for the breakfast! The hotel is only a short ride away (<80rs via Uber) from the ferry (6rs) to Fort Kochi or Ernakulam. The ferry is every 15-20 minutes or so, it was very convenient.

SwitzerlandStaff still Coming to terms with old hotel expectation and new management under that expectation. (Ie: no pool service / no bar / food lacks wow
It has always been my favorite hotel in Kochi. Old world charm nestled away from the hectic centre but close enough to everywhere. Recent change of ownership has meant a change to most things which my recent trip flagged as reason not to return. Cannot blame staff who are wonderful. Cleaning staff especially hardworking and polite. Sadly front desk is inefficient and unsure.

NetherlandsThe location is a bit out of town, so it will take you at least 30 min to reach fort kochi. The swimming pool makes up for that, but it makes it harder to go back to your hotel during the day.

United Arab EmiratesKnowledgeable reception staff would have helped. Eventually, had to get tips from the General Manager!
Room was small but worked well. Bed was comfy, pillows good. Shower worked well with some seepage from the glass doors of the tub. The pool was nice but the gym looked too small and was avoided. Breakfast was ample and varied with the possibility to order eggs and dosas to your table. Staff at breakfast were quick, courteous and attentive. Front desk staff were friendly and willing to h. Eventual. elp but need to really learn enough about the city they work in to help guests with basic concierge services
