How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe first thing I loved about this place is the beautiful location, in a quiet peaceful small village, next to an apple orchard from here one can see the panoramic landscape of the entire valley and Rohtang pass also. Warm and welcoming hosts, delicious food, a vibrant common area. Perfect for all sorts of travelers.

Their genuine hospitality and attention to detail truly set this place apart. The location is incredibly peaceful—tucked away in a quiet corner, making it a perfect retreat for anyone looking to unwind and recharge away from the noise and crowd. The services were excellent, and the service boys deserve special appreciation for their politeness, efficiency, and ever-smiling attitude. They were always attentive without being intrusive, making sure every small request was taken care of promptly. The food was a highlight! Delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Whether it was a light meal or something more hearty, the flavors and quality stood out every time. And I must mention the breakfast—an absolute treat. It was wholesome, with a lovely variety of options to suit every palate. Enjoying breakfast in such a calm and scenic environment was a perfect way to start the day. Of course, no visit would be complete without a mention of Sultan, the adorable and friendly dog who adds a unique charm to the property. He’s so gentle and welcoming—truly the heart of the place! Verified reviewWonderful room and location. A 4 km walk takes you to Old Manali through a pristine valley with chirping birds and aroma of vegetation. A 3 km walk takes you to Majhachh temple with wonderful view. A 2 km walk takes you to Domino's Pizza across the Beas and Nehru Kund. They kept the promise of electric kettle and refilled the coffee. They also shared an umbrella for free which was useful.
Too greedy. I asked for car services to Rohtang pass and Atal tunnel for which they quoted Rs 6000 while I made the trip with a driver I met for the 1st time in Rs 3500. Though free breakfast was promised and I was told they have buffet in the morning, they didn't serve buffet on 31st June. That is fine if the number of people are less, but items like fruit juice should have been there given you are charging Rs 4000+ per night. One night I had dinner and they charged Rs 30 for handmade roti (without butter) and Rs 100 for each cup of milk. While entry, they took the id cards, photocopied and said they will fill the details later. While check out, they came to the room and took the luggage. I asked the boy to stop at the counter, but he pretended not to listen and took the luggage to the car and loaded it, even though I hadn't introduced the driver to him. While I went to check out, I was told they filled the details but I insisted to check. I noted they wrote my father's name instead of mine, which can be a mistake. But they forgot to write the check out date and time, which I filled.

That said, we understand you found a more economical option, and we respect that. Also, we quoted for a Dzire, while you took an Alto, so there may have been a gap in expectations. 2. Regarding breakfast, we apologize if there was a miss in communicating about fruit juice—it was indeed available that day, though not buffet-style due to low occupancy. 3. As for the luggage, we only informed you when your cab arrived and helped load it as we had identified the vehicle. We’re sorry if this seemed premature. 4. The mention of your father's name was an honest clerical error, and the checkout date is filled in after departure, as per standard process—but we appreciate your attention to detail. The room was spacious, cozy, and well maintained . The highlight was undoubtedly the large size glass windows that offered a mesmerizing view of the snow-capped mountains. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the stay comfortable. Whether it was room service, housekeeping, or reception, everything was handled with professionalism and a warm smile. The in-house restaurant offered a great selection of delicious food.... Verified reviewOur stay at The 14 Gables was truly amazing! Property ka design bohot hi beautiful hai, aur mountains ke views breathtaking and majedaar. Rooms are cozy, well-maintained, and thoughtfully decorated. Sab kuch bohot hi clean aur well-organized tha, jo stay ko aur bhi comfortable bana deta hai. Sabse achhi baat, yahan ki hospitality—it’s warm, welcoming, and super attentive. Staff har chhoti chhoti cheez ka dhyaan rakhta hai, jo stay ko aur bhi special bana deta hai. Ekdum home-like feel aati hai! Agar Manali mein ek peaceful aur memorable getaway chahiye, toh yeh jagah perfect hai. Quiet location, beautiful ambience, aur ek alag hi sukoon ka experience.
