Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaWe paid more than INR.20,000/- per night for stay and we were offered a very average room with LOTS & LOTS of not needed furniture in the room which made the room very cluttered and uncomfortable to stay… also we were given room no.38 which has absolutely no view & privacy at all….. and most importantly there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom which made the us to wait for every use…
The Property as in whole is very beautiful and very perfectly located…which in Old City Limits…

AustraliaThe standard room literally has NO windows looking out to anything except the small terrace at the entrance. Even the terrace is surrounded at all sides with high walls. For the price, I would have thought even a small view to a garden would have been there. Better off staying in another newer hotel if you want to pay comparative prices with newer and better amenities.
The room was very large and is literally adjacent to where the king lives, the museum and the ferry pier to go to Jagmandir Island. I stayed here as a novelty being a James Bond fan. Obviously there is serious security around the area, so I always felt safe no matter what time of day/night it was.

AustraliaThe Shiv Nivas palace hotel is the offical hotel of the King of Udaipur. From our experience, it is criminally underrated. Not only were the staff incredibly friendly and accomodating, but the hotel’s ambiance was fantastic. Few points to note: the hotel was used in filming James Bond’s Octapussy. Unlike the Taj Lake Palace, which frequently advertises this fact and charges 3x the nightly rate, Shiv Nivas mentioned it to us only once. We booked the mountain view room, which still afforded us a view of the lake from one side of our spacious courtyard area. We also had dinner at the palace on one of our nights and the food was authentic and exceptional and relatively more affordable when compared to the comparable 5 star hotels such as the Leela and Taj. The hotel offers panoramic views of Lake Pitchola and complementary buggies through the palace complex to get out and about with easy access to the main market, city palace museum and Jagdish temple.

United KingdomThe basic rooms are rather disappointing and somewhat remote from the main facilities although are spacious. I think a suite would be much better.
The hotel is very impressive, lovely facilities for example the dining room, pool area and being able to walk through the City Palace at night returning to the hotel is amazing. The Jagmandir Island restaurant on Pichola Lake (part of the hotel) is well worth a trip to.

AustraliaIt's a little bit of a trek getting in and out of the hotel as it's on a hill and within the high-security palace grounds. The hotel provides a complimentary buggy service to the palace gates until 11 pm, which is thoughtful. The rooms are dated, and the whole property has an old-world charm, so don’t expect many modern amenities, but everything worked as it should. The restaurant offers a great dining experience, though it is quite expensive. If you’re on a budget, you’re not missing out on much—especially since you can still take stunning photos when visiting the publicly accessible areas of the palace. Additionally, there are no lake views, only city views, and the rooms aren’t particularly spacious.
If you want to experience staying in a palace, this is the place to be—it’s actually part of the City Palace and owned by the Royal Family. You can wander through beautiful grounds, enjoy exclusive access to certain areas only open to hotel guests, and relax by a stunning marble pool. We also had a great time playing squash and snooker.

IndiaThe information and rules can be better explained. The staff at the main city palace gate could be more courteous and better spoken when asking for identity or passes for entry. There should also be a fitness club which surprisingly wasn’t there.
The location and the rooms were very good. The staff at the hotel premises were very good and helpful.
