How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewStay was ok. But dont take any taxi from them. There is a Taxi owner there ,(some yadav) dont take taxi from him. He will charge to much . He has connection with hotel owner.

Apart from that we do not have any connections. We do not take commission form them...and because of that they have always charged reasonable. I just inquired, they charged Rs,4000 for parking of your car for two nights, market pickup and drop and Mirik-sightseeing...it is pure off seasonal rate.

The hotel owner was rude and she was treating my family without any respect, she was talking like she was doing charity, 8 don't recommend anyone with family to stay there very bad behaviour
I am sorry but I did not treat you disrespectfully, I was just trying to explain you the situation. No matter how much we try it is sad that sometimes we fail to gratify some people. We gave the best of services at very discounted rates and did not charge for extra person, you started telling me when we said that we are not charging you for extra person that we are not doing any charity, you were the rude one. If we had treated the guests so badly why did they want to extend the stay?

they should takecare of the property well, it has been made very nicely but when it rains the balcony gets half flooded.

Verified reviewThe room was clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained. The bed was very comfortable, and all the amenities were in perfect working condition. Especially loved the balcony view and the dedicated area for a bonfire — it added such a cozy touch to the stay. Having an electric kettle in the room was a thoughtful addition too. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing experience!
I was really disappointed with the food as it was not up to the mark. First day we had egg curry which had uncooked gravy and the chapati was quite big and thick, which made it a bit heavy to eat. A lighter and softer version would have been better.On the bonfire day we ordered paneer chilli and chow. Both the paneer chilli and chowmein lacked flavor.The food definitely needs improvement in terms of taste. Definitely not what we expected for the price. I hope the quality improves in the future or else they should allow the customers to bring food from outside.
We are sorry you had bad experience with food but its very very rare that our customers have complaints about our food. We get grocery only after taking orders, use the freshest ingredients and have been serving home cooked food for past 11 years. However, I will look into this personally and will discuss with our cook

Location of Hotel is not good. No transport is is agreed to reach the hotel pahari soul
We are located on hill cart road, main highway that connects siliguri and darjeeling so any car coming from Sikkim, Kalimpong, Siliguri will hve to pass our place so dont know which car did not agree. Shared cabs are available right below the hotel for chowk bazaar (3km) right below our place for Rs 20 per person. If the food quality was bad, I wonder how is it that you had dinner and breakfast every single day for 3 days of your stay. You argued with us on first day because you had booked one Luxury room and one standard room, which are different in terms of price, facilities and floor, which we told you and you said you had no idea it was two different rooms, I had told you we were sold out so we could not upgrade your room. You are pouring that frustration on the review

You had booked a king room and we had informed you that one of the days, the room will not be available and if you would be okay to shift to budget room one day, we had explained what the budget room is like and you said fine but later you did not want to stay there and we paid money from our own pocket and booked you in another homestay at night 9pm. It is located on a very steep slope, so we had to carry our luggage over there, and then we discovered he gave our booked room to another people, and there were no rooms available At the end, we had to carry our heavy luggage and syearch for a stay even after booking ahead And the worst thing was he didn't even try to help and give any information as we were new to Darjeeling. we didn't know anything, and the mobile network was also not working I just don't understand even after getting confirmation from booking.com, and after having a conversation with him 3 hours ago before we came to the place, how come he can give the room away and that too have the audacity to talk rude to me
We block the rooms only after we receive the advance amount as 99% of the guest(s) who has not paid at least some amount do not turn up and we have to bear the loss. We always try to contact the guests through message box in the voucher. Darjeeling is a hill station and our place is slightly inclined from the main road to the hotel gate for about 50 meters.
