How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

There was no window in room i stayed, felt a bit suffocated. Rest was good.

Verified reviewVery loud. Located near a main road so honking all night long and terrible noise issues with their “cooling systems”. I was next to a room with a cooling system and it was like a leaf blower was turned on all night. Barely slept

Verified reviewThe manager was helpful from the moment we booked. He gave us tips for India, and how to avoid scams. He also arranged us a chauffer with car at very good prices. Check-in was quick. Our room was nice and clean with fresh linen. We got toilet paper (which is rare in India) Try Muesli with curd for breakfast, its super delicious and healthy. Banana smoothie is also very good. Thank you for having us.

Verified reviewAbsolutely nothing!
If I could give Jwala Niketan Eco Homestay zero stars, I would. This was by far the worst stay I’ve ever had, and I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. I’m actually shocked at the high ratings this place has received and suspect they may be artificially inflated. When I arrived, exhausted from my flight, I had to wait around 20-30 minutes just to be shown to a different room. The room I finally got had a tiny, barely functional window with no fresh air circulation. The fan was practically useless, the toilet didn’t flush, and there were constant issues with getting hot water. To top it off, the reception area was dusty and unkempt. Not exactly a warm welcome. After enduring two miserable nights, I decided I’d had enough and wanted to leave. However, the owner was incredibly rude and dismissive when I brought this up. He brushed off my concerns, saying he was "busy with Diwali preparations" and couldn’t process a refund. He claimed he didn’t have access to the booking system on his phone, which felt like a blatant excuse to keep my money. His assistant tried to help, but it was clear the owner, Bana, had no intention of providing any customer support or refund. I later moved to another accommodation where the staff was attentive and respectful despite the Diwali celebrations. It’s clear that other places can manage their business without using holidays as an excuse for poor service, unlike Jwala Niketan. After reading other reviews, it’s clear I’m not the first person to have this issue. If you’re considering staying here, I urge you to look elsewhere. This place is simply not worth the hassle or frustration. If the owner can’t manage the basics of hospitality, he really shouldn’t be running a guest house. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else. The worst part was when the owner to avoid a bad feedback cheated on my stay dates and moved then to 2025! I contacted booking.
The guest has been reported as misconduct due to following: Not paying for the breakfasts Using foul language, misbehaving with staff to get money back, which the cancellation policy clearly stated that its not refundable. Threatening to write a bad review, and taking money back. That too on the day of Diwali festival (which is like Christmas to Indians) Review is full of lies. standard check-in time is 10 min for you it was 15 min, we apologies, but it takes time to scan passport and fill government provided format form. You booked the cheapest room, but you were show the room with terrace as well. To which you denied. There is no window in the cheapest room, but a air ventilation in room and bathroom. Fan work perfect. We noticed that you left more review across internet, which are being reported. Rather than writing fake reviews, you can put that energy into a hobby or do some volunteering work, or sit quietly in room and contemplate your life. Peace and love <3

Verified reviewLocation is great. Lovely and helpful volunteer
Sorry but the reviews are inflated. The owner charms foreigners to give good reviews but it’s not an exceptional place. It is not worth the price. I have stayed in budget places for a month now (and it’s my 6th time in India) and this was by far the worst one. The place needs serious updating. The room was ok with a comfortable bed but had a flaking ceiling. The bathroom was literally falling apart and the shower had almost no pressure. Had to use the bucket instead. Saw another room and they had fixed a window with cardboard. Do NOT use their taxi servers. First time had to wait half an hour the busy train station, second time the owner didn’t even bother to book one.
Thank you for your feedback. The first line shows your intention to write the review is to bring the score down. We sent a FREE pickup at train station. While the driver was waiting for 1 hr for you. Other than that you didnt use our taxi service, All these bad review because you wanted a car to train station at 6 in the morning, and wanted to pay not more than 70 rupee, (less than 1 euro. Because its 6th time in India, and you like to decide the prices for transport and accommodation. Thank you! Wishing you happiness and some smile :)

Verified reviewBook this place! A huge thank you Bana for being our host and friend all in one. Bana takes good care of his guests and is an excellent source for all things Jaipur. He is sure to make you feel right at home in his guest house. We ended up coming back a second time and booking a room with A/C and it was a great choice.
