Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt wasn’t a problem for me personally but it is located in the heart of an Indian city so expect noise from traffic at night. They supply complementary ear plugs.

South AfricaThe bathrooms need to be reconsidered, although newly done they lack functionality.. like a shelf in the shower and close to basin for personal toiletries. A block out blind or curtains in bedroom would be good.. to block out the lights when sleeping.
Location is great especially for a short visit, it at the hub of the old city. Easy to get around and a lovely view of the Stepwell which seems to be well cared for, undertaken by the Raas. Great to have good clean white towels. Rooftop is a winner, great food whether it be breakfast or dinner. Gorgeous views and excellent staff.

NetherlandsRoom can be slightly noisy due to it being right next to the busy stepwell & street.
Clean and comfortable room with direct view on the stepwell. The rooftop terrace offers one of the best views in town of the Fort! Breakfast and dinner at the rooftop restaurant also great. Highly recommend the place!

United KingdomThe Stepwell is all you could wish for in a hotel in Rajahstan. In the heart of the Old City of Jodhpur it is beautifully designed, relaxed and friendly. Stay for a night or two and you’ll want to stay a month.

IndiaFor self driven cars the entrance to the property is very congested. They make every effort to pacify the traffic blocks but it is best to go by rented taxis or chauffeur driven cars.
The rooms are absolutely beautiful - large, artistic, very comfortable, very well maintained and hygienic. The use of traditional decor of Rajasthan, is very eye-catching and genuine.

ItalyThe place is lovely and looking over the old step-well which is one of the highlights when visiting the city. Staff very kind and welcoming. The room we were in was spacious enough and comfortable. Water available in glass bottle and bathroom amenities in refillable dispensers which is very much appreciated. Breakfast is served in a coffee shop few meters away from the hotels, also with a beautiful view on the step-well. Perfect location to visit the old city.

United StatesThis hotel was recently taken over by the Raas hotel chain and is being brought up to snuff. All the previous reviews were from the old owner. We had an excellent stay. While it's not the Raas, it's an excellent hotel for a great value. Super clean, well located in the city and the staff is super helpful and friendly. What's not to like?

IndiaWhile we understand that the hotel is a refurbished period haveli, there was not much scope for fresh air in the room as the old bay windows were sealed. Of course, the room had an air-conditioning unit ;a necessity in these parts of India for almost 9 months in a year and a fan. The air-conditioning until did not work properly and the room felt very stuffy. I request the hotel to look into ways of making the rooms bit airy without altering the facade of the old building front.
The location is great. One has to get used to traveling in the small, narrow lanes of the old city. But, it has its own quaint charm. The hotel is housed in a refurbished 200 year old building overlooking a traditional stepwell , a charming archaeological remnant of 1700's. The rooms are quite comfortable. The property has a rooftop restaurant which we did not get a chance to sample during our short stay. They serve a great, sumptuous and tasty breakfast in the Stepwell cafe which is filled with many memorabilia photographs in a tastefully decorated dining area. The gentleman who served us breakfast was a very engaging and knowledgeable person. He told us about the history of Jodhpur and about the stepwell. His hospitality skills were excellent. The manager of Stepwell House Haveli, Mr Aijaj Khan is a very helpful , pleasant and professional front office manager who went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. All in all, a great overnight stay. I would advise guests to be bold enough to walk along the narrow lanes and markets finding their way carefully in the unending flow of autos and scooters. I am positive they will not only find great shopping at affordable prices but will also be able to see many old havelis and period buildings in addition to the Fort and the clock tower.

United KingdomWhilst being in a central location, you should expect outside to be relatively noisy, including through the night. What we didn’t understand is why the windows hadn’t been sealed to at least lower the noise. We could see a gap where the window hasn’t been sealed/closed properly. Food was “okay” and on the pricey side for India. Apart from the room itself and view from the rooftop restaurant (where plenty of other restaurants and hotels have the same view - just without a pool table), not sure where the value for money came from.
Rooms were excellent - clean, comfortable and spacious with a lovely bathroom (no water tank so plenty of hot water available)

IndiaIt was my first trip to Jodhpur and Stepwell House did not inform us that more than 60% of the property was under construction (It should have been shared by them, either on the profile or over an email with us. Which meant that we not only lived on the highest floor (which was yet to be repaired), with no access to a lift and steep steps. But we had to walk through mounds of dust, sawdust and floor sheets, workmen before we even reached upstairs. There were no cupboards, tables or chairs in the room. No hangers, no pegs. Which made it difficult for two people to arrange their luggage and clothes. The bathroom had a peculiar smell from the drain and moreover the water wouldn't drain out easily. There were small insects in the room, even though they said they had cleaned it. I had planned my trip right from day 1 with city walks, heritage visits, workshops etc. So it was too late to cancel and move out. Besides they take the amount upfront 2 days before we checkin. They also need to inform people about the accessibility bit, the fact that a taxi cannot reach that doorstep at all times due to narrow lanes. Just a heads-up would have been greatly appreciated.
The location was good. And the staff tried to accommodating and helpful. But on the whole they did not inform us of on-going work at their property. Slashing the prices online or upgrading rooms is not a solution to that. Moreover we were told that the work had to be taken up suddenly. The sheer scale at which repair was going on, it obviously was a planned refurbishment project. Which btw, they really need.
