Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaI liked everything about the stay. We stay around Kochi only, and even then, this felt like we were at a new place for a staycation. I could tell about a lot of things i liked about the property, but i would start with the hospitality this place offered. Right from the beginning of the booking till the stay ended, we were able to do everything as per our convenience. The extra bed that was offered without any hesitance, the room options, and the breakfast was all the icing on the cake. And coming from an architect, this place is a real kerala traditional architecture gem, the one you would have loved to experience once after hearing your parent's story about their maalika,s and tharavadu,s. Kudos to the owner, Suresh uncle, and the team for running this stay beautifully.

IrelandThis team have exceptional service - Raju, Boshi and Suresh help you feel that their home is your home. The breakfast were superb , a different taste of India each morning. Travel support was given - helping with trips and booking. We loved our room, large, cool, comfortable and spotlessly clean. It was very easy to get a tuk tuk from outside the property. Thank you 🙏

SingaporeThe air inside the house doesn’t circulate well. It might be due to the house being old, but it’s not a big problem.
The homestay located just a few minutes away from Jew Street. Room was spacious and clean, and I love the view from the balcony, makes me think of my grandmother house 😄 It’s a memorable homestay experience with Boshi’s great hospitality. Grateful for the help of arranging the tutu driver for my last day in Kochi, as I was lazy to plan anything after my retreat at Munnar.

A beautiful home, spotlessly maintained. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The outdoor areas were delightful. Even better than the accommodation were our amazing hosts. Anything we needed was provided, including a last minute wheelchair! Not only were our hosts super helpful but they were also lovely to chat with about all and any subjects. We hope to return one day.

South AfricaWhat a gem! Govindamangalam Homestay is located in a quiet, Fort Kochi neighbourhood within walking distance from Jew Street. The property has a beautiful garden. The home is decorated with family heirloom furniture including very comfy beds. The breakfast was excellent and the host was always at hand to assist us, including with cold drinks on New Year's Eve. I can highly recommend this property when visiting Fort Kochi.

IndiaThere was nothing we didn't like, the house is an old property bedecked with antiques and done up really tastefully. Every corner has a story to tell and Boshin kept us entertained with his stories. The property in itself is a sight to behold. We all wished we could've stayed longer. The cook Raju was so helpful and made amazing breakfast.

United StatesGovindamangalam is a gem. It’s a comfortable homestay in an historic building, close to Mattancherry and Jew Town but in a quiet location. Deepa, our host, was amazing, arranging drivers for us, recommending sights and restaurants, and arranging for laundry. Kerala breakfasts are excellent.

United KingdomMy only disappointment was that the description mentioned a bath but this was a misunderstanding as in Kerala a shower cubicle is called a bath.
Lovely historic property. Deepa was very kind and made me welcome. Comfortable bed and nice breakfast . Very well situated. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Many thanks

United KingdomNothing ! It was 100 % clean , comfortable and great !
I visited Kochi with my 10 year old daughter and parents. It was the first time for her and for my mother and I wanted to introduce them to India. We loved the homestay - not super central but the Jewish Quarter (which surpassed my expectations) was only a short 10-15 minute walk away along some of the quieter roads of Kochi and Fort Kochi was a short 5 minute rickshaw trip away, all organised by Boshi the host. In fact, Isaac, the rickshaw driver essentially was our driver for the entire trip. He was also super nice and took us wherever we wanted to go. He was an excellent tour guide as well. Such a humble guy. Boshi, the host, was amazing. Organised our trips to see a local dance show, day trip on the back waters, arranged transport (Isaac and taxis) etc. A really lovely person you just feel you can trust. The room was quite big (big enough for four of us), beds firm but comfy. Only one bathroom - not 5 star modern-hotel-standard, but it was clean and functional. Breakfast was great! Rajuchaddu cooked us the most amazing breakfasts - first time any of us had curry for breakfast!!! He was always downstairs and helped us with any questions we had. The place felt very safe and the area seemed safe as well. A great place to see the real India, but comfortably and within a very short distance from the touristy areas. My daughter wanted to write her own review below including the below boxes. Thank you Boshi. Hope to see you again!!! ———————————————— I loved our room - it was really comfy and there were mosquito nets on the windows so we never got bitten. Boshi ( the owner ) was super nice and recommended the best restaurants, tourist attractions and places to go . The food was amazing and we tried a variety of different dishes every morning . Thank you so much Boshi for an awesome stay and I’m pretty sure I’ll come again - before I’m twenty like you all said !!! You’re the best host I’ve had ever !

United KingdomThe place was perfect.
This homestay is in a great location, close to the Jewish area and away from the busy Fort Cochi which is still only a short tuktuk ride away. The host could not have been more welcoming and helpful. He was a mine of information and arranged trips and taxis for us and recommended restaurants and experiences. The breakfast was great and the room was spacious and very comfortable. One night a temple procession came past the house with an elephant in tow!

The most attentive, welcoming and friendly team who provided delicious breakfasts (and evening meals if required) and who assisted with recommendations, advice, transportation - everything - without interfering or intruding.

IndiaSince its a homestay, housekeeping wasn't upto mark...it needs improvement. Like tea cups were not washed and loose tea bags were kept open. May be we were the only guest staying at that time, just one breakfast item was there (though it was fabulous and tasty) with a fruit and tea/coffee. I'm sure this would be managed better in peak season.
The homestay was very nice and quite. Big room with plenty of sitout area. Simple breakfast, but was very tasty. Bhosi was kind and helpful with suggestions.

Boshi was such a lovely host, he really made us feel welcome and the food was great. He had some really good suggestions of cafes and restaurants and was interesting to talk to. Do try their Kerala breakfast, it’s really good, the local mangos and pineapple are especially nice. The garden is really beautiful, there’s some special flowers planted down the driveway and a beautiful water area, it’s a good place to sit and relax in. The terrace is also very peaceful. The property is clean and very quiet which is amazing for a inner city property. They arranged a taxi from the airport for us and also leaving the homestay, the property was also easy to find when going sightseeing, it was maybe 10 mins walk to Jew Town. The aircon and fan was already on for us before we arrived so the room was nice and cool after our long journey. We didn’t have any insects in our room either. We went during the monsoon period, it was only raining at night time and we could enjoy the sound of the rain with an evening chai. Thank you for the lovely stay.
