The location is excellent, the staff is friendly and helpful (they quickly got me a sim card on the spot), the room is small but clean. There is a nice café restaurant with a view on the terrace of the building. I would definitely come back. :)

I personnally regret not having Indian options on the restaurant menu, plus I would recommend to freshen up the bathroom, which feels a bit old compared to the rest of the equipment.

Very welcoming guesthouse, family owned with every membre being friendly and chatty about Varanasi and their passion (especially for music). The rooftop is brand new and really enjoyable, the food was okay and the staff keen on pleasing clients. It was a great experience overall, and the area of assi ghat is really peaceful compared to the maze of main ghats.

Excellent help provided by Kailashji at various times during the stay. Opening gates during midnight during impromptu temple visits or holding off guests even after we missed checking out on time or even sending our missed luggages via Post after carefully packing!!! All these made our stay smooth and tension free

Owner is a humble person, but this is not everything for a stay. Room is very small in size, stairs are narrow and stip, difficult for elderly people, no hotel staff, you have to carry your own luggage. Only positive things are proximity to Assi ghat and very humble behavior of the owner.

Kailash’s guest house is a wonderfully pure and simple place to stay. His family are warm and welcoming. Kailash is a famous tabla player from Varanasi and I loved having tabla lessons from him each morning. The guest house is a traditional Varanasi building, full of plants. The rooms are simple and clean. If you want it, delicious home cooked food is served. There is also a cafe on the top floor. The chai stand next door, Chacchha Ki Chai, owned by the guest house, is very famous throughout India (and instagram!). The upper floor walkways have beautiful views over the ganga sands. Best of all is the location - 1 minute from the world famous Assi Ghat, and close to the city centre. So many street food and restaurant options nearby. Don’t miss an opportunity to stay here and stay in a spiritual, musical guest house whose owners live and breathe the spirit of Varanasi. Thank you Kailash-ji and family.

For my needs it was definitely great. Kailash, Sushma and the rest of the family were so kind and welcoming. Kailash is a famous Tabla player and teacher and has a lot of knowledge about Indian culture and history.

Steep stairs, cleanliness was a big concern, the private bathroom was stinking after single usage, very claustrophobic rooms, no water supply, very overpriced, the photos of the rooms are deceiving, the owner of the homestay did not even greet us during any point of our stay there despite being present all throughout. All they care about are their foreigners.

The location is great, but that's about it.

Weird vibes and very unclear communication. We used their laundry service, we were told one price and the next day the price suddenly was 4 times bigger. They for sure don’t clean the rooms, full of dust. I know the price is cheap, but after travelling one month in India we have not seen this kind of accommodation within the same or even cheaper price range.

Location right next to Assi Ghat

I always try to find a small nice property instead of big international chains in every trip i do and after staying in many hotels of this kind I am 100% sure that ganga guest house was our best ever choice. The location is very close to the ganga river (about 2 mins walk). Rooms are spotlessly clean and large enough to feel yourself comfortable even for a long stay. We would like to mention that every detail and every corner of the interiors and exteriors are built with love and perfect taste. The owner and his family are very nice people with a very gentle character of hospitality. Overall it was amazing stay...highly recommended ❤️

I booked a room with a shared bathroom and paid 1k INR which was not worth it at all, the room was too small even to stand, the room was not very clean, the mattress was uncomfortable, the shared toilet and bathroom were also too small to adjust. I think at this price you'll get a much better deal with a private room and air conditioning. Overall I'll not recommend anyone to stay here. Thank you.

The only good thing about this guest house is that it's very close to the Assi Ghat.

The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the family members was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting downtown. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 10am. We got to hotel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The sevice was exceptional as well. Would definitely send a friend there. I had a wonderful experience at the guest house. Every family member I encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you! Will recommend to my colleagues!

The location is close to a lot of restaurants, cafes, rooftops, where you can find different breakfast options. From the rooftop of Ganga Guest House you have an excepcional view of the Ganga River and all the ghats. The host Mr. Kailash and his family are nice and helpful, they go an extra mile to help you in anything you need.
