Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeNothing particular. Only the evening boat could be even better as the condition of the boat was very poor. We expected a very posh cruise.
Property is good. But the spa can be even better. I did the facials and it was just okay according to the price. Food was great. We loved the breakfast and the dinner at the armory restaurant. Food was delicious. Overall a wonderful experience at the Brunton boatyard. Jasmine was very polite, friendly and very helpful.

Room was very clean and comfortable, service from all staff was excellent and this made our stay really memorable. The additional amenities like the afternoon tea and guided history tour added that little extra to our experience. Location also great for ferries, shops and restaurants. Breakfast options were varied and tasty.

IndiaThe local food was good but could’ve been better. The room was noisy meaning the ships passing by would wake us up early morning and can be a big problem if you sleep light. The ayurvedic massage center for men could also be better.
Excellent staff again it’s a thing in Kerala/Cochin. Very unique property across the water front with some beautiful views. We had a water facing room on the top floor that was beautiful, clean and large. The food was good at the Armoury restaurant. The boat ride in the evening was excellent too.

GermanyThe ferries depart right next to the hotel, which can provide a bit of a loud backdrop, but earplugs are provided and the rest more than makes up for it.
Exceptionally friendly staff all around, gorgeous and peaceful location. The restaurant has a delicious selection of food and drinks. Spacious rooms with very comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom.

United StatesThe passing ferry's noise might be considered a nuisance by some - but for us it was an additional charm!
Right from the start, CGH makes you feel welcome. Their hospitality compares, if not excels, what you would find at a Taj property, and that is saying something. The hotel is one of the very few properties that has an expansive view of the waterfront. It is a lavish and intimate property with a central courtyard. The breakfast is served at your table and offers an elegant melange of local flavors and global classics. They arrange for morning walking tours with a local guide, an evening boat ride or a yoga class - all complimentary! The rooms are luxurious and gives you the unique colonial feel.

Exceptional staff who always smiled ensuring we were comfortable. Excellent location! Even though it was off season, the hotel had sufficient staff ensuring guests were well taken care off. IndiaOnly complaint was its too close to the ferry service docking point, so the sound of the noisy ferry is continous, but to the credit of the hotel the doble glazes windows do not allow the sound to come into the rooms, its just the common areas that get noisy.
The location was great, but what truly surprised us was the quality of the food, we had a 3 course sea food meal for dinner which was exceptional and followed by the breakfast which was 100 out of 100 for the bakery chef, one of the flakiest croissants we have ever had. Having good quality cycles on the property helps cycle around the fort areas , which was lovely!

AustraliaNothing, we were limited on the number of options the hotel has to offer due to weather. Everything the hotel had control over was excellent and can't find an issue with.
The room was excellent large and clean. The food at the restaurant was excellent and good quality which had a good selection of food both Indian and some Western selections. Staff are excellent can't rate them high enough they always ensured we were happy but also were not over the top so always made us feel comfortable.

I have stayed in many properties for both business and travel and I must say Brunton Boatyard Hotel would rate right at the top. Below are the reasons: 1. The staff - The word to be used is brilliant, from being accommodating to being down right helpful and most importantly patient with my 2.5 years old. Shout out to Arun and Jasmine at guest relations - Thank you both of you 2. The food - I was so thankful that there was not an endless buffet for the complimentary breakfast, but a selection with very good local options everyday 3. The location - best place to stay if you want to see Kochi A hotel I would like to go back to.

United KingdomIt has to be mentioned, For us it was not a problem but the ferry crossing can be a little noisy during the day. It stops and is silent at night so it’s unlikely it will disturb your sleep.
The pool area was absolutely beautiful, restaurants were fantastic and catered for all. The communal areas were lovely. Our room was fantastic. It was spacious, had excellent AC, very comfortable bed, views towards the Arabian Sea and over the pool, the bathroom was well equipped-a brilliant shower and good quality products. The hospitality was outstanding! The hotel also put on several complimentary activities, high tea, boat cruise and walking tour, among other things. We loved it so much we stayed an extra 2 nights-5 nights in total.
