Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

GermanyOur stay at Baba Laru’s was simply fantastic! Keegan is by far the most welcoming and helpful host we’ve met during our trip to India. He took care of everything, always making sure we had the best recommendations for trips, restaurants, and anything else we needed. Even after we had moved on to a different location, he kept sending us event suggestions nearby—this truly shows how much he cares about his guests. Baba Laru’s is more than just a place to stay; it’s a home filled with warmth, connection, and an amazing sense of community. And that includes the seven wonderful dogs that are part of the family! Especially Salsa and Peanut, but also the others, made our stay even more special. We stayed as a family of five and immediately felt at home. It’s also a great place for solo travelers, as Keegan makes sure everyone feels included, often inviting guests to breakfast or dinner together. Thank you for the amazing time, Keegan! Best wishes from Mark, Janine, Ratcha, Dahlia, and Martina—and please say hi to all the dogs, especially from Dahlia to Salsa and Peanut

United KingdomKeegan and his animals were a delight and the other guests were lovely. We were also lucky to have Tam residing there at the time who gave free morning yoga sessions every couple of days. It was a little way out but we like walking, it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the cliff restaurants or a quick tuk-tuk ride.

GermanyMaybe good to know if you have special needs: the mattresses were quite firm (totally fine for us)
We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. The host Keegan and housekeeper Suzie are wonderful people. Keegan helped us with organizing a transfer to the airport, gave us recommendations for restaurants and nice places to visit in Varkala. Suzie keeps the place clean and the lunch she cooked was delicious. We enjoyed having animals around and especially spending some time with the dogs. Great to see how Keegan and Suzie take care of the dogs and the other animals. The location was also ideal too for us - less traffic noise because it’s not directly on the main road and close enough to restaurants, shops or the beaches (just a short ride with a TukTuk or walkable). Good Airconditioning and fans, nice communal spaces. Highly recommend Baba Luru‘s!

IndiaThis place is not for the faint hearted. Choose only if you are comfortable with stray dogs, and okay with rustic life.
Oh, Baba Luru! What a fantastic slice of heaven in Varkala! The farm, the doggos, the greenery, the music, the rooftop terrace, the soft whistling breeze, the pretty corridors - it was all so lovely! Keegan, who runs the place is a charming, helpful and extremely friendly chap. He calls it a guesthouse, and not your conventional hostel; which I began to see why during the course of my stay here. The place is an escape for those looking to stay and connect with nature, and enjoy a slow, simple life in a beach town. The rooms are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, and the guesthouse itself is located close to many restaurants and other essential shops, making your long stay (or short) a comfortable one. I was grateful to have met some really wonderful people here! Make sure to ask Keegan for his stories (hahaha they are both funny and creepy AF) and fun recommendations! Can't wait to come back here soon :)

IsraelIf you like stiff mattresses, you’ll have a great sleep. We did. The place is 0.5 km away from the center but if you hire a two wheels, it becomes a real advantage. So we loved it as well!
Keegan was a real friend. Helpful and always willing to help and advise. He created a unique environment in his boutique-style guest house. His passion for his dogs and the way he introduce every guest to them in order to make everybody feel comfortable is inspiring.

FranceEverything was perfect
Words cannot describe how much I loved this place. I was looking for a peaceful place where I could do my yoga and meditation practice, surrounded by nature and animals. I found paradise here. Keegan is the sweetest host, he brings such an incredible shining energy into the stay. He is always available to help and support for any need or question. The property is kept super clean, it's surrounded by nature and many animals dogs, chickens, a cat, goats, which make it even more magical. The big terrace at the top is so beautiful and great to do yoga/meditation/read/relax. I stayed for 2 weeks and I am looking forward to coming back to this wonderful place that feels like home. NetherlandsWe loved staying at Baba Luru’s. The host, Keagan, is wonderful and super helpfull. He gave us great recommendations and phone numbers to arrange a scooter, taxi, yoga and so on. The housekeeper Suzie is also great, she let us feed the goats (yes 4 goats, how cool!). And there are seven dogs that are super sweet. We loved them all but special shoutout to Banana, Taco & Peanut. The rooms are cosy, the communal spaces are very relaxing. Just an allround amazing, peaceful stay. We highly recommend this place!

GermanyTo be fair, I don't really know anything that should be changed on the location itself, but be aware that there is a bunch of dogs in the garden area, so if you don't like them, it might not be the best place. Also, as it's a little further away from the cliff restaurants and beaches, so be ready to walk 15-20min (it's safe, also during the night) or take a scooter or Tuktuk.
Baba Luru's is such a lovely place to stay at. The house is surrounded by a large green garden, the dogs are welcoming you at the gate and there is a nice large common area and kitchen. Keegan is the best host, easy to reach, super kind and helpful if you want to do something in the village or to have a quick chat. I had a private room, because I worked during the week and it was amazing, as I also had the shared balcony with the other room where I could actually work from. The internet is stable and works fine for online meetings as well. My main highlights were the dogs and the people that stay here, all super kind and friendly!

Loooved my stay here. From the minute I arrived (at 2am) Keegan made me feel super comfortable with a warm ‘welcome home’ which is just what it felt like 🏠.A little oasis about a 10-15minute walk from the busy cliff meant it was tucked away from the huddle and bussle which offered a more chill authentic experience. Not to mention the 7 little fur babies 🐶 was a highlight for sure! Super clean rooms and bathrooms and a lovely guests. Keegan was super helpful with ANY random question about Varkala or beyond, helped me call my home country after a bank card issue and offered lifts 🚗 when he was around. Can’t recommend this place enough!

SerbiaNothing, everything was as perfect as heaven!
Baba Luru’s holds a special place in my heart, akin to a sanctuary away from the familiar. Within its embrace, I find solace in truly special company of people and animals, especially among playful dog companions, and a delightful array of animal creatures. The tranquil ambiance is further enriched by the gentle strains of inspiring melodies, creating an atmosphere brimming with serenity. One of the highlights is the provision for yoga, allowing for moments of introspection and rejuvenation. Moreover, Baba Luru’s acts as a magnet for those seeking the spiritual essence of Varkala, fostering connections with kindred spirits. In Keegan, our affable host, I found not just a caretaker but a genuine friend. Eagerly anticipating my return, I am already envisioning my next journey to Varkala, with Baba Luru’s as the focal point of my plans. To fellow travelers seeking a haven infused with warmth and charm, I wholeheartedly extend my sincere recommendation! :)

FranceBaba Luru’s is a beautiful two-floors cottage surrounded by a peaceful garden where you can enjoy the beauty of Varkala in a real authentic way. Keegan will welcome you as a friend and introduce you to the other guests, give you a lot of tips, suggest places to visit. In Baba Luru’s you can enjoy a yoga practice on the rooftop terrace at sunrise, have a relaxing time reading on the hamac, share a dinner with other guests. Baba Luru’s is a perfect place if you’re looking for both a chilly atmosphere and a social environment. Located only 15 minutes by foot to the cliff, room are spacious and clean, with AC and fan. Don’t miss Susie’s Kerala lunches, she’s a great cook and a nice person to talk to ! Nine dogs live in the place but they never bother you unless you’ll allow them to come close for a cuddle or two.
