Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandBathroom is shared, directions to arrive a bit unclear (leaving directly from a bit a faster road).
Really close to the airport, like a 7min drive. Room was comfortable, parking space is available for 2, maybe 3. Keys are in a lock outside.

BelgiumVery basic facilities. Flexible owner. A bit pricy for what you get. OK if you want to catch a few hours of sleep. The owner has tried to make things cosy, but it looks like he is still in the process of fixing the place. The back entrance is a bit messy.
Close to the airport with a bus stop in front on the building.

FinlandOn the downside, to put it nicely, the place is quite rustic. And the fact that it's well accessible, right by a main road at street level, also has a downside: traffic noise throughout the night. (I was so tired that I slept well anyway.) And, although I had instructions how to get there (and the location shown on a map on booking.com), at first I missed the place and went by. (I had never been to the area before.) As I was first coming and saw the building, I thought to myself, "That looks like a house that could be named a wee cottage," but as I reached it, I thought, no this can't be it, because I can't see the name or address of the place shown anywhere. At the next intersection I realized I had passed it and returned. Entry is through a back yard that resembles a scrapyard. Summer weather was unseasonably cool, and the room was a bit on the cold side (I didn't try if the heat could be adjusted), and I didn't see anyone in the evening when I arrived, but the blanket was warm so I slept OK. The room key was of a type I had last seen in southern Africa in the 1990's (but it worked).
There's everything that a budget traveller needs: a comfortable bed with a warm blanket, there's a shared toilet and shower with warm water (it may have helped that I went to bed and got up before others who were there), and a kitchen with free bread, jam, breakfast cereal and fruit juice. (It looked like everyone is supposed to wash the dishes one has used, so I did.) Indoor facilities were clean. And for travellers to/from Dublin airport, the place is fairly close (only a couple of kilometers from the terminals), and most of the way can be travelled by bus (but I walked there from the airport; the road has sidewalks). After booking, I got instructions rather quickly as a WhatsApp message (as to how to get in and get the key from an outdoor key box; luckily I had recently started using WhatsApp).

United StatesI hadnt expected to share a bathroom - although that was actually fine, I didnt have to wait for anyone. And double glazed windows would help cut the quite loud traffic noise - the house is right next to the road, and I was in one of the rooms closest to the road. I thought it quite pricey for what it was.
great host - he was waiting for me outside the house when I arrived to help me find it, and saw me in. A nice welcome. Good selection of cereals, toasts, jams etc for breakfast (and very welcome to be able to have toast when I arrived). Bus stop for the airport right in front of the house, so VERY convenient, my main reason for choosing it.

IrelandUnfortunately, there was only one shared toilet to service all the bedrooms in the Wee Airport Cottage, although there were two available in the adjoining cottage but I really didn't want to go outside in the middle of the night to access them! As a senior, I need to use the toilet quite frequently. Our toilet was situated inside the shower room. The first night, I needed to use the toilet but someone was taking a late night shower and I had to wait 20 minutes, hoping that I wouldn't have an accident on the kitchen floor!
The staff were lovely! They were friendly and helpful and did their best with what they had to work with. They told me which bus to get from the airport and which stop to get off. It was only a five minute bus ride and cost Euros 2.60 as opposed to paying a lot more for a taxi. If you are fit, it is possible to walk to the airport from the cottage. As a senior, with some mobility problems, I found the one-level bungalow easy to cope with (no stairs)! The bedroom was clean and included toiletries and snack pots. The bed was comfortable. The bed linen and towels were clean. the kitchen was well provisioned with equipment and basic stuff like tea, coffee, milk, etc. Across the road was a Centra supermarket and further down the road was a more comprehensive Supervalue supermarket, as well as the Swords Pavillion shopping centre, which could be reached by local bus services.

HungaryThe kitchen area was really dirty. It wasn't cleaned for weeks... The bed was quite narrow and uncomfortable. The walls are made of paper. You can hear everything from the street and the neighbouring rooms. The whole place needs renovation.
It was really close to the airport, and had free parking. The owner was friendly and polite. Communication was also good. There were clean bed linen and towels.

United StatesThis is not a cottage. The property is a duplex modified to be a dormitory situation. 1 bathroom for 7 male and female guests. No Tv in the room . No curtains with a bright street light outside. Trash in kitchen area not empty. Guests open cans of food in the refrigerator. Dirty dishes left in sink. Bedspread smelled men’s cologne and body odor. Towels damp and funny smell. Entrance effectively through a construction area with a 40 foot shipping container for a wall. Bathroom floor covered with water and dirty towels on floor. Trash all around structure. Window next to busy street had to be left open for ventilation- very noisy. This is not a cozy cottage- college frat house on an undesirable part of town. Pictures available.

AustraliaIt was hard to find as it`s on a busy road. Quite untidy out the back which is the preferred entrance. A family was staying which was not suitable for a family situation. Only three chairs in the tiny kitchen, so not all guest could not use the facilities at the same time. There was a guest smoking in a room which was adjacent to the kitchen which travelled through the cottage.
Kevin was a great host and trying to improve the setting. Lot of toiletries were available. Lots of cereal option were available. The cottage is also very close to the airport.

GermanyWe put the key pack in the box. The one bed was just some kind of commode with a thin mattress on it. We are sorry, but we cannot sleep there with 3 adults in this room. One bathroom, that’s okay, bit a clean room would have ben great. The garden was a mess.
There have been clean towels and things for a shower and food in the kitchen.
