How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was very central, so great. The host was exceptionally lovely and helped with local suggestions. Although it isn’t accomodation that provides breakfast she does offer a few little things to help you get your day under way.

Verified reviewThe owner was super helpful with our planning, the location is excellent, and the room was cozy with a window built into the roof above the bed. We enjoyed meeting other guests and chatting about our travels in the small dining area with a continental breakfast provided. Great location to reach the Aran Islands and the cliffs.
Room is a little small and close to other rooms - so not for you if you wanted complete privacy.

Verified reviewThe lady owning the property is absolutely lovely, helped us with anything we needed. We were told no breakfast was available for the stay but we still got coffee/tea and cookies. The location also was good and close to everything we needed, pub, bar, the port and the road to the cliffs. Next time we are visiting Ireland will stay here again.
Maybe a hairdryer could be nice to have, but I personally didn’t need it.

Verified reviewFirst off, the location was great. It was in Doolin within a mile or so of the pier where you can board a ferry out to the Aran Islands. When we looked out our window, we could see the leading edge of the Cliffs of Moher. McGann's Pub, a very popular place to eat, drink, and listen to music, was just a short walk away. Second, the owner and hostess, Theresa, was wonderful. We had several conversations with her, and she provided some really helpful advice as to how to enjoy the sites, such as the Cliffs. Everything was clean and well maintained, and even though she didn't provide breakfast, she did offer cookies / pastries and coffee / tea. There was plenty of on-site parking, which was also much appreciated.
I think the only very slight negative was that the room was a little small for two people with full suitcases, but that was a small matter that really didn't present significant problems.

My only comment is that you can hear the people in the rooms next to you. If you’re okay with that then you’d be very happy here.

Verified reviewBreakfast was satisfactory however there was no sink facilities. It was difficult to fill your water bottle. The fridge was shared with the other guests. We had our own private bathroom however we had to be cautious not to soil the towels with makeup etc.
The host was rather rude. Any request appeared to be an issue. To have a cup of tea/coffee in our bedroom (I'm uncertain if this was permitted) you had to go downstairs & then carry it back upstairs.
Thanks for the feedback. Our listing is 'Room Only' which means No Breakfast included and No room service. We are Not listed as a 5 star Hotel. The fridge is provided as a convenience for all guests to store medications and perishable food We would like to clarify that our house rules which are clearly displayed specify that complimentary tea and coffee is only available in the lounge area. Informing and having to remindi you of you this wasn't intended to offend you. Rules are there to protect our property and safety of our guests. We request that guests refrain from using towels other than drying after showering. Face wipes and wash cloths are provided for removing makeup which is standard requirement in all accommodation providers

Verified reviewComfortable bed and pillows. The location was quiet in terms of local traffic (usual thinnish walls for "hotel"). Nice to have a jar of cookies in the eating area.
For the cost, and the set up of her building, it would have been nice to have breakfast included. But maybe the price is high because most people stay only one night and there is a cost for doing the turnover. Not a bad facility given the options in Doolin.

Verified reviewThe location is great-a quick walk into Doolin. The linens on the twin beds were freshly starched and so crisp and nice. The room is smaller than some would prefer, but it was absolutely fine with us. It was peaceful and tastefully decorated. Teresa’s homemade scones are absolutely delicious. Some of the best we had in Ireland! Teresa shared some travel tips for our day which were incredibly helpful. If we had done what we planned… It would’ve really thrown our schedule off. Much appreciated !
We prefer a full bed, but of course we knew that we would have twin beds. So this is not a criticism!
