Idyllic, cozy getaway with warm staff & beautiful, peaceful surroundings
    • Leisure trip

    • Cosy Single Room
    • Stayed 4 nights

This isn't something that is really straightforward or easy to change, but the one downside was the lack of diversity of guests & staff, especially when it comes to mingling in the shared areas.

Xhersi, Egli, Eileen! The staff was wonderful & kind & attentive. Remembered & greeted us genuinely every time.

The first night I was put in a room, in a different building to the one in photos on booking.com. It was accessed through the bar and outside service area. The room was dark, with a view of the rubbish bins, like a standard hotel room in any part of the world. I chose Killeen house because the description on the website and on booking.com was, 'charming room, tastefully furnished, views of our extensive gardens from each room'. Photos were of rooms with beautiful traditional furnishings. I had paid extra for a bigger room. I pointed this out to staff, said I was disappointed, and they worked hard to transfer me the next day to a room in the main house that was actually what was advertised and what I'd paid for.

Wonderful staff who would help with anything, nothing was too much trouble. Nice lounge, bar and restaurant spaces and rooms in the main house tastefully furnished. Check when you book that you will be placed in the main house if you have chosen Killeen house for the charm.

Continental breakfast is overpriced for what you get. The stay was great, but could skip the breakfast.

Overall clean and comfy hotel. Perfect for a quick stay near Killarney.

I marked the value low, because for the price we paid and the extra we paid for the breakfast, it should include all coffees. I was charged an additional $4 ED for my latte!!! Why wouldn't that come with the $20+ euros breakfast? We were also disappointed when we asked the front desk a few questions about driving through the Dunloe Gap, she seemed to not know much about it or the area. We were just surprised that if you have someone working the front desk, in an area like this, they should be pretty well versed in the area and the amenities or adventures that are there.

We stayed here for 1 night on our way through for a Ring of Kerry tour. We really liked how spacious the room was for our family of 3, especially the bathroom compared to other properties we had been staying in. We liked that parking was easy and that there was a fair amount of space to get in and out of the parking lot with our car. The room was really spacious & comfortable with the amenities we needed...iron, blow dryer, and bathroom essentials. We really liked the property itself, and how quick & easy it was to drive the 8-10 minutes into Killarney. If we are ever in the area again, we would stay here again, but probably opt out of the breakfast and do our own thing. The facilities themselves were really nice!

The room was right beside a busy road, so windows had to be kept closed because of the noise. Ate in the bar, food was OK but very expensive, €14 for a tiny desert. And although I paid by card (luckily) for dinner both nights I was there. It was added to my room bill.

Staff were lovely. Room was spotless.

There is no internal access to the new refurbished wing so we had to go through the bar to the outside on the way to our rooms.

Welcoming comfortable hotel away from the bustle of Killarney with a great restaurant. Lovely setting in the countryside.

    Nothing.

Everything was perfect about this hotel. The location is breathtaking. It’s slightly outside of Killarney, which was perfect to get away from the hustle. And the property is beautiful. The restaurant and food are amazing. The bar! Everything was perfect. However, the staff were what made this our favorite part of our time in Ireland. Jersey, Seamus, Anne, Sofia were INCREDIBLE. so kind, helpful, and hospitable. Would recommend to anyone going to Ireland or Killarney!!!

Decor is dated, not just traditional but dated. Our room had a bit of a musty smell to it, I would suggest due to the age of the furniture. It was very clean and the bathroom was excellent, particularly the shower! No air con also means the room was stifling in the heat, the staff did supply a fan at request but it didn’t do very much on our first night. Luckily the second night was much cooler and we slept better. Food was excellent in the restaurant and for breakfast, although staff service was a bit slow.

Well located, very close to Killarney whilst still feeling as though in the countryside. Clean and tidy inside Staff were very friendly and helpful

Beautiful old school boutique hotel! Staff was excellent. Our room was very spacious and our favorite of our 10 day trip to Ireland. It’s just a bit outside of town ( 6-7 minutes) so it is quieter but super easy access to a taxi if you don’t want to worry about driving back after a night at the pubs in Killarney. They have a beautiful restaurant and breakfast was excellent.

One small downside was that the bed mattress was a bit too soft for my preference.

This charming hotel is only a 10-minute drive from Killarney, making it a peaceful retreat with easy access to town. The rooms are simple yet spacious, featuring clean and well-maintained bathrooms. The hotel is dog-friendly, and it's a delight to be able to bring our furry companions into the bar area. Breakfast was absolutely delicious—definitely a highlight of the stay. I wish I had the chance to enjoy a full dinner at the lovely restaurant, but unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed inside. of the restaurant

The breakfast roster has been streamlined with bookings requested to ease the flow. Topping up needs to be more efficient as the various treats disappear! Dinner was equally pleasing and filling with a good wine list. Bar food was an option which encouraged great social mixing.

This charming little hotel is located in the rolling hills just outside the vibrant town of Killarney. It is a beautiful old building from the mid 1800s, updated with many comforts in pleasing grounds. By far the most outstanding feature is the staff; a group of mainly young people dedicated to making one's stay as comfortable as possible. And always with a smile! Rooms are sizable and comfortable, and everything runs so well. Our little doggie made many friends from various parts of the world. Breakfast offers an enormous choice of continental dishes as well as ample-sized cooked variety, some very endearing.

The bedroom was a little too warm at night.

We had a fantastic stay. We brought our dog with us & he was allowed to sit with us in the sitting room area. The grounds of the hotel, bar & restaurant area are all fab. Food was great too. We will definitely be returning.
