Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CyprusI didn't realise, but maybe never read the information correctly. The bathroom is downstairs. Us oldies found that a little challenging for nighttime visits. Other than that, all was lovely.
Lovely home from home.

United StatesWe loved the location adjacent to the National Park and the vintage 1840’s house experience. Our hostess was delightful and very dedicated to her home and making sure we were comfortable. She gets high marks for Irish hospitality and positive energy. She went above and beyond to help us explore the best of Killarney. We loved the short walking distance to downtown shopping.

United KingdomNot a big issue as it's a very walkable place but it's not a great spot for taxis pulling in.
The location was excellent for a wedding in the Cathedral and into the town, but nice if you want a bit of a quieter stay than on the main drag.

IrelandI believe there was a miscommunication or it wasn't very clear on the description of the house that there was a possibility of sharing the bathroom. Also, there was no access to the kitchen, we wanted to get water at 10PM and the door was locked so we got water from the bathroom sink.
The house is just across the road to the National Park and close enough to town center, the bed is really comfortable and Mary Susan made sure to leave recommendations.

AustraliaQuaint spot that’s a close walk to the main town. Just be aware if it’s raining you may need to walk in the rain to your parked car so bring a light jacket or umbrella . However if prepared this is not a big deal. Also, to drop your bags just park in front of the cottage (it’s a busy road at points but you may stop to remove your bags) before then parking near the church. Host was lovely and caring .

United KingdomGreat location just 15 minutes walk from the main streets of Killarney. A warm and welcoming and elegant B&B. The owner Mary was wonderfully helpful and provided tips for our 3 day stay which proved to be invaluable. Very happy we picked Ivy Cottage. Had all we needed and more.

NetherlandsWe were very disappointed by what we found at Ivy Cottage. The room was very much smaller than advertised on booking.com and utterly unsuited for anyone over 175 cm. The promised view on the garden was actually a minute attic window giving out to the very busy and noisy road. That road, with the recurrent noise from within (a pumping system of some kind?) basically prevented us from a decent night's sleep. Most importantly, a shared bathroom is one thing, but a bathroom at the other end of the house, down a small staircase, was not what we bargained for. A thoroughly bad experience that we didn't want to prolong. Forfeiting the room fee for the remaining two nights seemed a better option than to stay.

United StatesParking! Mary’s attitude, and the way she handled the situation, and her lying to us. She stated 3 times, she would refund our money, we unfortunately did not get it in writing and booking.com is siding with her. We had a contract, and she refused to honor it.
Hard to leave a review when you are not even allowed past the entry hall. There is no parking, and the home is on a very busy street, we parked in the wrong spot for less then 5 minutes and she was furious, refused to rent to us, said she’d refund our money, but didn’t. Immediately stated the bathroom was shared and on a different floor from bedrooms. She was not willing to get past the parking, we were to unload on the busy street and park 1/2 mile away. Not understanding why she felt she was owed the payment €1055.00 when it was her that would not let us stay there. We went by her house the last day we were supposed to stay there, and ppl were loading their car, so we can only assume she went ahead and rented it to someone else!

United StatesOf all six places we stayed during our two-week trip to Ireland, Ivy Cottage stands out as the most memorable experience by far. From the incredibly comfortable beds to the darling home, the exquisitely presented breakfasts, and Mary's unprecedented hospitality, the five of us loved our three-night stay! She suggested and coordinated our Gap of Dunloe tour, which was amazing! She surprised us with a birthday cake for my father. And she even phoned ahead to the dinner houses where we had reservations to make sure they took good care of us. We sincerely appreciate the care she takes with her home and her guests! Hope to see you again soon, Mary!

CanadaBreakfast. On the website it shows this lovely dining room where I gather breakfast would have been served. Instead we were given a bag breakfast and told to eat it in the park. Lucky for us it didn't rain.
Breakfast was awful. The host on day one said it was too hot to cook a breakfast and on day three said it was too much bother. She instead provided a bag breakfast to go which was inadequate.
