Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Wonderful breakfast. Great coffee and tea. The stream behind the castle was enchanting to sit by and drink wine! Very friendly people!!

IrelandNothing. My husbands like a cooked breakfast, but he certainly wasn't complaining.
This place is brilliant. Slightly other-worldly. It's a real experience in the proper sense of the word, because you're in a castle. A castle! Would you believe they offered us a choice of rooms because, "They felt a bit bad that our room was small." Who does that?! That's class. Staff lovely, especially Johnny. Breakfast delicious (not a cooked one, but a very good continental one). Place gorgeous; lovely situation and grounds. Rooms fab. And even though it was a castle, with lots of lovely furnishings, artefacts and specialised design, we didn't feel at all awkward bringing our 3-year-old. There were other children staying there too, and we were all welcomed. Highly recommend this place.

United StatesIt’s farther from Galway town than I understood when booking - not a criticism of the place, just something visitors should understand. Having a rental car would give you maximum flexibility in getting around, seeing broader area.
Our room was gorgeous and spacious (Salmon room) with a beautiful view of river and castle.

AustraliaA hot breakfast would have been nice. But it was easy enough to wonder around the grounds, pat the dog, scratch the cat, chat with whoever is around, until the feeling passed.
Clean, spacious, well maintained rooms. Friendly staff with complimentary visits from Ruby and Elizabeth. Very nice place to stay.

Best castle stay. The room was expertly decorated yet didn't feel too uppity. The whole place had a homey vibe. We stayed in the Abbey room (which I highly recommend). We had a great view of the Tower and the Abbey across the street. It was awesome to be able to go into the Tower on our time and explore. You can also go the Abbey across the street for free. It does have a closing time. The gentlemen who checked us in was great (sorry, I don't rememb.er his name). Nice breakfast room and continental breakfast. Highly recommend!! And don't forget to pet, Elizabeth, the castle cat.

United StatesMy only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay here! The bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept on, including my own, and the pillows were comfy too (and this is coming from someone who has autism and likes to stick with her own things typically lol). The floor heating is AMAZING, our room was the perfect temperature, all the amenities were great here, the breakfast with lattes made by the staff was the little cherry on top! The host was a really sweet, and helpful person! They've put in work to restore the castle and it's truly wonderful to see how far it's come (they have little booklets showing it from before, with it's story!) the tower itself was fairytale-like in all of the ways, we got to go inside and take a look around and that was magical, we didn't sleep in the tower though we might if we ever make it back!

United StatesWe really enjoyed our stay here. The caretakers were so friendly and the property was exceptional! We even had warm baked scones, fresh squeezed orange juice, and tea at breakfast. It has been beautifully restored. Walking through the castle tower was also really cool. We ended up doing a self-guided tour for most of it which was really cool! Really appreciated how the owner uses antique furniture, some of it more than 200+ years old throughout the property. Definitely felt like we went back in time! We had a wonderful view of the castle from our suite. The clawfoot tub was also wonderful. My wife plays harp, and we both didn't realize until we were there that the famous Brian Boru harp was once housed here. Highly recommend booking here!
