Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe shower was very fiddly to get to a reasonable temperature and was extremely hot if the setting moved but with a new temperature control it would be great
The room was excellent and had everything we needed for our stay. It was only a five minute walk down to Ardara and the views were spectacular

IrelandThere could be also some plates around ... otherwise there will be crumbs everywhere.
Abby Lodge is a lovely place to stay for families. It is not the easiest to find in darkness, but when you do find it, it has all you need. Our boys loved the bunk bed and the board games. And at the end I needed to hide the cookie jar. It is well equipped and really suitable for a few nights stay to discover Donegal.

United KingdomMary was a wonderful hostess. The property was wonderful, comfortable, warm, quiet and at the top of a hill with the most perfect view. Mountains and Sea. Mary was so helpful and accommodating when we all got absolutely drenched at the beach and we needed some extra heating to dry the shoes. She provided us with heat immediately (even though it was warm out but typical Irish weather) the shower and hot water was almost immediately hot hot hot. While there isn't a kitchen, we brought a camping stove to use outside and you could also use a BBQ if the weather was good enough. Otherwise there are so many places to eat in Ardara, lots of lovely pubs, a nice Chinese, fish and chips and pizza for take away. There's also some dine in places. There is a kettle in the room, cutlery, glasses and mugs, mini fridge and kettle and some coffee. The beds are super comfortable. The games in the room were great we all had fun with connect 4! After the kids went to bed we did too with the TV on quietly to wind down with a glass of wine and the view out the window which you could never grow tired of. Towels were fluffy and great. The bathroom floor was quite slippery so do be aware of that (room 1 at least although I imagine they mirror) You're only 25mins away from Donegal town, Glenties and Killybegs, all of which are lovely to visit and eat/drink in. Kilcoolney Dolmen, Assaranca Waterfall (free) and Maghera caves (€4 parking at Granny's) and Ardara Distillery (€26.50 for tasting tour) are a must see, just make sure you time the tide right for the caves. The kids ran around outside happily as there's plenty of space. There is also a play park within walking distance although do be aware the area is very hilly, it's up a mountain.

United KingdomUnfortunately there was a smell to the property which we put down to it possibly being a bit fusty. We opened the windows to air the place out a bit yet upon return from the local shop it was still present. Once we came back from eating out for the evening the smell persisted and eventually at 9pm we decided to leave. To be fair to the proprietor, we didn't report this, if we had I'm sure we'd of been taken care of. Yet at that point it was getting late and we decided to go home.
Lovely little spot well positioned in Ardara (not far from the centre and amenities). Well presented in general and host kept in touch in the run up to the stay. It's not our first time in Ardara so we're well accustomed to the local bars and restaurants hospitality.

IrelandAs above, no breakfast. The property is a little drab and the room a little dreary. Didn't meet anyone, which surprised me for a rural location. The room was clean and tidy.
There were no breakfast facilities. In some websites it is advertised as a bed and breakfast. It offers bed only

IrelandThere is was a bit of an issue during check in when our room was still in a mess from previous visitors the day before . Mary was helpful and let us stay in the upstairs rooms. These rooms were cold and the shower water took ages to heat up. No towels and no basic amenities like bins either
The property was centrally located and the decor was stylish.
