How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location cannot be better, great restaurants close by, even a pedestrian area! Great vibe on the plaza in the evening. We loved it. The staff was superb and super friendly - their English skills were outstanding 👏
Our twin room had 2 bunk beds but no windows, just bricks letting some light through - we didn't get this from the description of the room nor from the photos. So we felt we were mislead by the photos Breakfast was included, but it was small. But it took the guy preparing the breakfast ages to get tea and coffee done ....

Verified reviewNear tourist attractions, spacious common area. Comfy mattress. Very friendly staffs. The hidden locker inside the capsule is smart. The long hanging rack and hooks inside it is also great. The cute cat. Restaurant for breakfast is very clean and comfy. Love it.
I just realized that because it's near tourist attractions, the cost of Gojek/Grab increases a lot when requesting from the hostel. It costs me quite a lot. Unfortunately the bathroom is outside and far. Thats quite a bummer. The facilities can be cleaned better please. I am Indonesian but I believe you guys can do better. It has many dusts, dirty wall. The space for hanging wet clothes is at 3rd floor, my room is on 2nd floor, it seems not proper enough as if just "a space in the corner". Many tiles on the floor is also broken. Glasses, cutleries are limited.

Main issue was probably that the aircon doesn't worked very well so the room feels hot & it really avoid to sleep well. Dorms are honestly very basic & a bit old but clean. Basically everything is just old & maybe needs new equipments a bit more furnitures to gives vibes for a hostel. Beds are really simple. Bathrooms needs maybe to be a bit modern & renewed.

Regrettably the facilities are not in the best condition but still OK. The bathroom has seen better days but it was still relatively clean and absolutely fine for 1 or 2 nights.

I didn't like the facility at all. The common area is nice but it's dirty like the rest of the hostel. The bathroom are dirty they have a plastic mat i don't know how they can clean the floor. The shower was very poor on water with almost zero pressure. The room is very small and the bad so uncomfortable that I woke up with a very bad neck pain. It doesn't match the pictures at all as well as the good comments from other people, I don't know from where they are coming from.

I had my bed next to the AC. It was so cold that I couldn't sleep. The remote control to the AC wasn't in the room, so I had to go down to reception early in the morning, to get some heat and an extra blanket.

In the heart of the old town (Jakarta Kota), with a clean space, good WiFi, decent bed, plenty of space to keep your luggage secured, game zone downstairs and food if need be. Plus I tasted the decent breakfast next door (voucher from the hostel). The best was intangible - people I have met in the hostel were incredible.

Verified reviewThe staff are very helpful and super friendly, i like the mutual areas on the 2nd floor and the main floor. I like the entertainment there, such as the Netflix service and Billiards.
The ladder 🪜 to the top bed is hard to climb on and off, i almost fell twice, so please try to improve that and make a grip at the other side of the bed to improve more safety.

Verified reviewThe guests are all really great. This made my stay really enjoyable. Great location...
I did not like that the staff were telling my guest to leave at 10pm, when it was only around 8:30pm. I would have preferred that they share that with me and not directly to my guest who came to visit and hang out with me in the common area. They made both me and my guest feel very uncomfortable. Constantly watching us and when I showed my guest the toilet one of the staff ran after us up to the toilet and I told him that my guest was only going to use the toilet. I felt like I was constantly being watched especially by management. Probably because I was the person of colour there. My bed had bed bugs, long strands of hair (I'm bald) and even nail clippings on it. I requested for my entire bedding to be changed after my first night and they only changed the bed sheet and one pillow case. The blanket still had long hair strands on it and the other pillow case was dirty. I had to request to move beds after waking up with multiple bumps all over my back from the bed bugs 👾. I am allergic to bed bugs so I was covered in swollen bumps all over me. Even after sharing and showing them my allergic reaction to the bed bugs. I was not offered any form of compensation. I had to pay for the two drinks I had for my entire stay. Worst hostel experience of my over two month travels. The staff at the front desk were hardly friendly. Only one or two really seemed kind. There was one girl with the Bob cut styled hair who was extremely unfriendly. She would not make eye contact nor would she even smile when she entered the room and her energy was extremely negative.

As for the issue with your bedding, we’re very sorry for the condition in which you found your bed upon arrival. Once we received your complaint, we immediately replaced the bed sheet and pillowcase as requested. We regret if this wasn’t sufficient and understand now that a full bedding replacement, including blanket and all pillowcases, should have been done right away. We also sincerely apologize for the discomfort you experienced due to what appears to be bed bugs. We take such complaints seriously and will take further steps to ensure rooms are properly inspected and sanitized. Lastly, we appreciate your comments regarding staff behavior. We strive to provide a welcoming and respectful environment to all our guests, and we will be addressing this feedback internally to ensure all staff members reflect that standard, without exception.
