Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNothing, we felt right at home.
Wisma Po Ong is a very charming, but basic homestay. It is located in a quiet, lush area just out of Ruteng. Peter and his wife are super friendly and very helpful. They will be happy to coordinate trips in the area and elsewhere on Flores. Don’t miss visiting Mano village!

NetherlandsLocation, this homestay is a bit off the beaten track, which is absolutely wonderful if you have your own transportation.
Friendliness, walk to the rice fields, great food served by the owner, help with arranging a day trip and onward transportation.

United KingdomUnfortunately the hosts were very busy when we were there so it wasn't quite what we were expecting but it was 1st day of school etc. Maybe check their schedule if you're hoping to spend time with them as they're lovely people!
Carolina and Peter were very friendly and welcoming hosts. The room was clean and comfortable and there was great breakfast and water refills. We really like the location just outside Ruteng and loved walking back from town.

FrancePiter and his family are fantastic hosts. Piter took me on his scooter as soon as I arrived to go to see some caci in a village nearby. His wife cooked an amazing dinner and his kid is adorable. We went for a nice walk in the rice padddies the day after. The room was very comfy. Such a great experience!

Hong KongWe had a great stay at Wisma Po'ong. Peter and Carolina were extremely welcoming and caring. We didn't have a lot of time but Peter had suggested many great activities to bring us to. The breakfast was delicious and whenever we needed anything Peter and Carolina were happy to help us.

MalaysiaNothing, everything is great
Peter and Carolina are very hospitable hosts. They made me feel welcome the moment I checked in to their property. Peter showed me around, brought me to local restaurant to try their local cuisine and also brought me to his relatives house where I got to experience their local culture and delicious food. The property itself is very clean, cozy and quiet at night which enabled me to have a good night sleep after a long day of travelling. They made me feel apart of their family and I got to interact with their adorable son. I highly recommend their property to any one who is visiting Ruteng. Thank you Peter and family!

SwitzerlandMaybe that there is no hot water but as I said, they are working on it
We stayed at Piter’s house for one night and we had a lovely experience. He prepared us a welcome snack, took us to the coffee plantation to explore it a little and then to taste the coffee in a coffeeshop. Keep in mind that he is still building up his homestay and he is doing his best to make you feel as comfortable as possible. We can only recommend you to stay in their home and help them expand 🙏🏼

SpainWe stayed 2 nights in Wisma Po'ong and we loved it ! The room is clean and quiet big, the place is very peaceful, outside of city center. But the best about Wisma Po'ong is the hosts ! Carolina and Peter made us feel at home all our stay long, they helped us renting a scooter, picked us up at the bus station, invited us to a very cool open mic outdoor concert... We really enjoyed Ruteng and its good vibes. We warmly recomend to stay in this homestay, hold by wonderful people !

NetherlandsI have to be honest for future travelers. The price asked for the stay does not reflect the amenities nor location. Pretty far outside of the city centre (you need your own transportation), cold water shower only, no wifi available. This wouldn't be a problem if the price is MUCH cheaper than other options in town, but it's not. I suggest to either significantly lower the price per night (maybe half of what's asked now) OR greatly improve the amenities and conditions. The price/product is not fair now and better cheaper options are plentiful inside of town.
Peter and his family are absolutely amazing and have good potential in making the homestay great for the guests. Breakfast and coffee were good.

CanadaIt started with the owner picking me up from the bus stop, with my 2 luggage (I had told him), with a scooter!!!! Unfinished house 600 m into the jungle, 4 kms away from town. Very bad, single lane , gravel road. No AC, no fan, no chair, no Wi-Fi, fine. But no sink means brushing your teeth with the shower head and spitting in the toilet. No Grab or Gojek means going into town for food but the owner acts surprised when you ask him where to rent a scooter. Mattress is on the floor. 2 electricity shortages during the night. No electricity means no shower (no pump): you do get a pot and a bucket of cold water. You'd think it must be quiet but the neighbors play very loud, subwoofered music. And there is logging all around. Overall, it was cheap, but far from worth it. The owner doesn't seem to be aware of what foreign tourists minimally require, even from a rustic, elemental, country homestay. Unlikely to change even after t he house is finished. I left after 1 night. Don't make the same mistake: It will unnecessary negatively impact your visit. BTW, the spiderweb terraces are 15 kms away. The 'fields' photos are not from this property. Some photos (yellow walls) are from a nearby coffee shop. Focus on the 4 bedroom photos and the 1 of the sink-less bathroom. That's what you're getting.
