Beautiful mismanaged and awkwardly designed place

A lot of noise which is frustrating at such a peaceful place: mainly construction; on one of the nights they started doing some maintenance work right at my windows at 11 pm! And it’s when you want to be up super early for surf. The staff on the night shift had zero English language and the best he could eventually do is to let me call manager, which didn’t help much. So overall mainly sleep gets interrupted, also all the doors are designed the way that if they aren’t handled with extra care they slam. So if you aren’t up super early you anyways wake up cause people start slamming their door and there is zero sound isolation. Also parking is right next to the room so when people come or go to airport while you’re sleeping they’re slamming the car doors- you can hear everything. Toilet flush didn’t work. The sink drainage smelled into the room. It wasn’t a comfortable stay. Was trying to just to come back to the room as little as possible.

Beautiful beach, a couple of staff at the restaurant are really nice, loved the dogs. Also the yoga terrace/ outdoors gym for self use was wonderful. Very close to mellow surf breaks which was suitable for this trip.

For that price the room is quite barebones, for example there is not even a hook for clothing in the room and there is no chairs inside or outside the room to sit on. I think with little cost they could have done more to make the room feel nice. The room is clean but could definitely use some deep clean especially the bathroom.

The location is beautiful and the large garden is very nice.

we stayed in a family room, it had a small fridge that sat on the floor. A little counter and tea/coffee facilities would have been helpful. They should consider adding a pool.

    Beautiful location and lovely people!

The bed was 2 singles, the aircon made the room smell like mold but without a fan there was no other option. No fridge in the room, when I am paying over $100 / night I expect a fridge.. And maybe some coffee and tea while you are at it. I asked about diving and was given WhatsApp for someone over 8 hours drive away, instead of details for the dive place around the corner which resulted in a drawn out but wasted WhatsApp conversation. My breakfast of an omelette was truly dreadful. One of the dogs had been in a fight and was bleeding from his head and ear, which resulted in blood on me on more than one occasion as they were a very friendly dog.

Location was great and staff were super friendly and helpful. Friendly dogs. They accommodated early check-in for me. Kelapa muda.

High cost of extra activities. Ping pong cost RP 100K for 1 hour !!!! We thought it should have been complimentary. Mototorbike rental was excessive

Staff were exceptional. Extremely happy to assist with anything. Room was comfortable. Meals were good, bit limited for choice. Banana pancakes were the best we've had in Indonesia. Magical sunsets

I had to book the 2 bedroom unit as the smaller units were down for maintenance. It was way too expensive for 2 people. I might try the smaller rooms in the future if I know there are no surf camps in the area.

A number of new resort 'kinks' clearly need to be ironed out. Our driver got lost on the way from the airport to the resort, making our already long and uncomfortable drive nearly unbearable. There's no clear front desk or welcome/check in area from the drop off parking lot, so a clearly marked sign or welcome staff is needed. The sidewalk also doesn't connect to the car park, so luggage must be pulled through the grass/mud, or carried. Breakfast is not included and the menu is very limited for any stay beyond a weekend. The kitchen ran out of basic ingredients daily (like bananas) and food quality is very inconsistent - sometimes good, sometimes not at all, usually just okay. Offering a 'fresh catch' or simply daily special would make a big difference. There aren't many comfortable outdoor spaces to relax during the day because temperatures are desert hot and the sun is wicked strong. Providing permanently shaded bungalows, umbrellas, etc. on the beach or grassy areas, as well as ceiling fans in the common restaurant area would make staying outside more bearable. A pool would also dramatically change the experience, offering a cool respite when the beach is too hot. Other small '5-star service' touches would take this resort from mediocre to magnificent, like dedicated beach towels (opposed to having guests use their own bath towels), easier access to drinking water, buckets and sand toys for kids, complimentary bug spray in outdoor areas, properly setting dining tables (water and cutlery for each person without having to be asked), basic breakfast/lunch take-away boxes for airport transfer, simple and free daily planned activities or excursions like yoga, local crafts/customs, shell collecting, etc.

The staff was incredibly kind, patient and accommodating. We absolutely loved the property dogs (especially Bobo) and the baby bunnies. Our family villa was a perfect fit in size and comfort, although our master bed AC didn't work consistently. We enjoyed practicing yoga in the fitness bungalow and walking down the beach to the tide pools on the rocks. The beach is beautiful after 4pm, especially during low tide - so much biodiversity to see in the sea! The surf lesson/guide was great. Sunrise and sunsets are spectacular - just remember to bring your bug spray because mossies and sand flys are wild at dawn and dusk. Locals are friendly and excited to practice their English. We appreciate that Whales and Waves offers free English language lessons for both kids and adults in the local community. We also enjoyed watching the cows randomly roam the beach road.

Everything is a little bit more on the expensive side, but for us worth it. Only uncomfortable thing for us, our room was right next to the main entrance and the walls are not soundproof.

Beautiful stay, nice garden and enough space to chill and hang out. Food was good and the staff were all so friendly. Nice location, close to different beaches (best reachable by motorbike) In the morning, it is possible to swim at beachfront, in the evening nice sunset and view. But the thing we loved most, the accom had their own very lovely dog Bobo.

We were disappointed about the amenities and activities announced: pretty much nothing to do when there is no surf (wake, boat, snorkel, gym, skate ramp were not available) and very little (not to say none) surf guidance (which is something you could expect from a “Wave” resort). For the “Whales” part, they only give you the contact number of a totally overpriced company to see whale sharks in Saleh Bay (we did the activity for 5x cheaper with another company) and the resort is actually very far (5h ride) from the starting point (if we had known this we wouldn’t have gone to this resort as it is totally in the opposite direction).

    Nice place, great view

The rooms are clean and basic. It could use perhaps some local art implementation and a nice foto graph or something on the wall. Also the charging points are not placed strategically. Sadly a couple of times the water was cut off and also the wifi was not good so extremely hard if you have to run several businesses overseas. The staff is not observant. When one comes for holiday up on arrival the guest should feel like holiday and not carry their bags to the room or at least have some offer by staff to help. Also in the restaurant the staff does not bring the menu. You have to grab the menu and again go there to order. Also no standaard bottle of water is supplied and this is a must. The location is so beautiful and this place has incredible potential. With some good management, upgrades and proper staff training it could really be a one of a kind. !

The location and the view was absolutely amazing ! And enjoying the sunset with Bobo the dog made it even better. Bobo made our stay amazing! Staff does need proper training, bottles of water should be supplied while dining and some minor room upgrades are needed and such as some better wifi for those whom have business to run while on holiday. Besides that it’s a stunning place with incredible potential.

Nothing in particular. The beach is not the best beach of Sumbawa, but at high tide you can go for a nice swim.

What an amazing resort. It is so wide, it felt both private and social at the same time. The big restaurant is an amazing meeting place but the rooms and villa's are very private. We had one of the villa's which was amazing and very spacious. The big garden gives lots of space for children to run around and play, without you having to worry about them bothering other guests. Food was good and the sunset and the views are out of the world!

Some improvements can be made. The regular staff were friendly but felt sometimes inexperienced or a bit passive at times. Support on travelling questions was slow, in case ingredients were missing from a dish this was not mentioned in advanced (you just noticed it when served). The twin and double rooms felt a bit simple, functional, nothing to rave about. Also mind you that the WiFi is not covered in all rooms - so in case you mind make sure you get a room near to a router. The latter we thought was quite a let down if you compare this with other similar hotels, especially when some rooms do have connection (purely on proximity to the router) and other don’t who pay the same price.

The view over the sea with Lombok as a backdrop is amazing. Because we used two types of accommodations we can say that the family-villa’s are really a step up compared to the rest. Also the food served was of fine quality (there’s not much around, so when you have limited wheels, you are mostly pretty bound to the hotel restaurant). They had some skate/surf equipment laying around as well which was great fun for the kids (and parents).
