Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicIt was a cozy, peaceful place. The only thing were these roosters, they are a bit annoying during early morning hours. But you can get earplugs from the staff.

RussiaStaff is not very considerate and barely speaks any speaks English. They come only in the morning and stay till afternoon, and don’t ask about for example your check out time to come to return bike keys or collect the money for laundry. You need to manage it yourself and come to them when they’re there.
I totally LOVED this place. Very clean and comfortable, the pool is amazing, daily housekeeping, and even very nice design. Open air bathroom is something! Rented bikes right at the hotel, which was a lifesaver. Gamat beach is near, and it’s worth visiting!

GermanyThe staff barely spoke any english, so communication was sometimes difficult. The bathroom is outdoors, so we had many spiders and some other insects in the bathroom.
Very cute cottages with comfortable facilities. Great location, close to the main road that leads to the different famous beaches and there are a few great restaurants around the corner. Nice pool area.

United Arab EmiratesThe only problem with the place is location. If you have your own bike, then you're set, and there's absolutely nothing to worry about, but otherwise it will be difficult to go to places, since there's no grab in Nusa Penida. Thankfully I met a bike driver at the port who was willing to take me around, but be prepared to pay much higher rates than you would on the main island of Bali. Besides the slightly secluded location, the place was absolutely perfect, and I would still highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking about it.
I loved the way it was built, the lighting, the pool, and just the overall atmosphere of the place. I looked exactly liked the photos and I loved the stay there. The owner of the property is really warm and friendly, helping me with directions and offering suggestions for places to see around Nusa Penida. Though there was construction going on next door, the host had already provided ear plugs in the room so that you wouldn't be disturbed. I loved the open shower in the bathroom. It was a unique experience that you don't get to see in most other parts of the world.

Really cute bungalow with an outdoor shower to die for. The pool area is fantastic. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. Reason for lack of reviews is it is a new place but I would recommend it to anyone! One of the best places I stayed at in Bali.

IndiaOverall it is very comfortable, clean, safe and well located. Our room was cleaned everyday and the staff was very courteous and helpful. Our host was available on call/whatsapp and extremely helpful throughout our stay. There was no breakfast. (When one says Bed and Breakfast, breakfast needs to be provided) This is not a hotel/resort property. Just FYI there are 5 stand-alone villas.

United KingdomGreat stay at Nusa Penida. The location is ideal for exploring gamet bay and crystal bay. Bike rental is available at the property for 100rph per day. The rooms were very clean and fresh water bottles left for us daily as well and tea and coffee facilities. We were in the rooms, not the cottages - see photos on booking for clarification of the difference. Pool was beautiful and warm.

CanadaNo breakfast offered here but there are several options nearby at the Warungs. You definitely need ear plugs... Lots of dogs barking (usually at night, then it tapers off) and roosters cock-a-doodling starting super early in the morning. I think this would be the case in most accommodations you stay in on Nusa Penida though. . I think they should add a lock on the inside of the bathroom (there's only one on the bedroom side to stop the door from being blown open from the outdoor wind). So sometimes the door would get pushed open an inch or two by the wind and it didn't feel that private
The cottage we had was very cute and had an outdoor shower with plants. The grounds/pool area were really nice... Our friends stayed at the lower portion of Wage cottage (down the road) and we went to visit them - turns out there's a second (bigger) pool! The host was super sweet. She was always asking us how we were doing + was happy to help with anything. She has a lovely smile. The staff made up our room (or offered to, if we were in the room) each day. They helped arrange a ride to the hotel for us from the port. Very good value for money!

FranceBe careful about your accommodation on the island if you are a light sleeper because the dogs and roosters are noisy the all night (yes they even sing from 2am to 6am non stop maybe I am not used to this in Europe but it is part of the local culture and the price to pay to sleep in nature) we could hear everything outside every night
- Very well located on the island - Lovely owner available and willing to help : he booked us the taxis, massage and rented us a very nice scooter at a fair price - The cottages are beautiful, we especially loved the experience of the outside shower - Clean and pretty swimming pool, as there are not so many cottages looks almost like a private pool sometimes ;)

GermanyNot all the rooms are cottages. The photos on booking show a lot of photos of the cottages but they have normal standard rooms, too. Be careful that you book the correct one for not getting disappointed. It was getting a bit on our nerves that we had to organize transport for everything because we did not have a motorbike and there is not a lot around. With a motorbike you will be fine
The staff is helping to organise tours, transport,...

GermanyWe stayed for two nights in this beautiful location. We got a really warm welcome from Egi, who was our contact person during our stay. The communication with Egi was easy, honest and he was very cooperative, e.g. with our booking for the speedboat to our next destination and the ride to the harbour, which he had organized. The cottage was cozy, bright and very clean. The open bathroom was also bright-lighted, which was great. (most bathrooms we‘ve had before were too dark). All in all we would highly recommend this stay.

CanadaWas a great place, but if I had to list any improvements a bug net around the bed would be a nice touch as there were a few geckos and spiders in my room (I know those are uncontrollable and the hotel is very in the wilderness), and also a garbage bin for the bathroom/room too! Also bring some earplugs as the roosters can be quite loud in the morning, I was up early to tour around so it didn't bug me much, also I know this is uncontrollable by the hotel.
Super cute and quaint hotel on the island! Perfect for just sleeping (the pool is very nice too), rooms are very spacious and there are restaurants within walking distance. The manager Egi was extremely accommodating and very nice! Great value and would definitely come back.
