Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe cabins are situated between a rice field and a forest/jungle. Whilst that makes them very picturesque it also means an exceptional amount of bugs and wildlife. The bamboo villas mean this is a particular problem. None of the doors close “flush” and the bathroom has parts of the roof which are open. Meaning all wildlife can come and go as it pleases!
The setting and the scenery are stunning. It is exceptionally clean and well kept, the rooms are amazing and decorated well!

French PolynesiaThe bathroom was a bit smelly but overall it was fine.
We enjoyed our stay in the lily room. All amenities provided were great and the place was clean and comfortable. The view was great too! The location was also good, and they offered a free shuttle service to Ubud center twice a day. It was close to a few playground which was great for the kids. They also provided us with a baby service so that we could have a night off for an extra fee. The kids had a great time.

United StatesThe bed was not comfortable unfortunately, woke up sore and had to get massages to help with the discomfort. Very poor sound proofing in this hotel. You can hear everything. I could hear the guest in the room next to me talking on the phone until late at night and taking a shower, etc. When he got up so did I basically. When he opened his door or closed it sounded as if it was in my room. Just loud all around. The guests above me had kids who ran and jumped for hours on end everyday for what felt like over a week. It was awful. The hotel staff offered to move me but I didn’t like the twin room option, and the view from this room was of piled up, ugly rubble/trash and an unkept field. The landscaping was nice around one area of the property but a quarter way threw it’s like they gave up, as the majority of the property overlook a sad, wanna-be rice paddy field that is completely overgrown. This hotel could be such a shining star landscape wise. Wish the owner would show it some love. Lastly, the pool has almost zero sun exposure due to the rooms above covering it. So if you’re wanting to languish in the sun poolside this is not that hotel.
I absolutely loved the staff. I cut my hand on a glass that broke, and Dita was so attentive and put me at ease. I also liked that my room had high ceilings, and a kitchen to cook a few meals for the days I wanted to stay in. The view of the sunsets from my balcony were just amazing. I had a great dinner one night in the restaurant. Very good food and a great cocktail with great service. I liked that there was a coffee place nearby (Rusters) that also had a good restaurant with live entertainment on certain nights. The ac working really good. The black out curtains helped with sleeping in. I could walk to two nearby markets market as well. Even though it could take anywhere from 20-40 minutes to get into the center of Ubud, I feel like the peace of the area the hotel is in made it worth it. And can’t beat the rate I got.

AustraliaStaff were friendly and hospitable, they catered to my dietary requirements and was a wonderful and relaxing stay. I stayed in a suite on the ground floor with pool and garden views and the room was spacious and had its own kitchenette attached. There is a local shop up the road to buy items to make your own dinner (however I didn't use it as ate out most of the time). There is also a cute tea house and Rusters restaurant to eat at just a minute walk away as well.

United KingdomOnly issue we faced was some noisy guests in the room beside us who were up until 2 am chatting with about 10 people in their room. Hotel didn’t intervene until we asked them to. Guests did stop after this. Lovely pool, but needs more sun loungers, at times we weren’t able to use them as other guests were on them.
Spacious room, there was a plumbing issue on our last day in the bathroom so they upgraded us to a suite with no extra cost. Breakfast was included in our stay and was really nice (when you could order from the menu). We booked a couples Balinese massage at the spa which was really lovely.

Hong KongIt’s a decent hotel but I found the pictures misleading and give off a much better impression than it is. The drive in is narrow and parking seems very limited (turn in past rusters). Value wasn’t really that great for the room we got. They also did not have any dual beds room even though we requested for one, and on arrival they were telling me they had one at first before finally admitting they did not. Did not try their dinner or breakfast. Most of the menu item are western and limited Indonesian.
We were at least able to get a parking spot, and it's close to Ubud for grab delivery.

South AfricaUnfortunately, the photos depicted in the listing show productive rice fields, which unfortunately wasn't the case. The view was basically of fields of weeds (not that I know the retreat has any control over) and other buildings. This was our most expensive stay by far in Bali and we thought it would be a quiet accomodation, but unfortunately there was a lot of construction throughout the day right across our villa.
The room was well fitted, and the bathroom was incredible The restaurant offered great food at reasonable prices. The staff were helpful and very kind throughout our stay and our experience at the spa was epic.

United KingdomThey were building an extension, so the serenity of the place was disrupted by construction during the day (but the extension did look like a great addition to be fair), I believe that construction will be going on until August/September 2024 so keep that in mind. The paddy fields you see in the pictures aren't actually paddy fields anymore, they are now wild greenery, still very pretty but not paddy fields (which we were excited about). We had a few great massages there, but I had one very disappointing experience where the therapist was very distracted and tapping away on her phone throughout the massage, the villa refunded me for that one.
Most of the staff were absolutely fantastic! There was one lady in the kitchen and one lady on the reception who really shined, but they all felt like one big family. The kitchen was so accommodating and even cooked us some lovely off-menu meals when we made special requests. The breakfasts were great. Gorgeous sunsets from the restaurant. The room was attractive and clean, with a huge comfy bed. There's another lovely restaurant option just around the corner ('Rusters', I highly recommend it). Great fitness classes a short walk down the road at Bala Bali. Ubud is one of the best locations to explore Bali, you're right in the middle so the whole island is your oyster.
