How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOur stay at Villa Wastra was truly wonderful. The place is very quiet, which was perfect for us since we work night shifts and need to rest during the day. Maria and all the staff are so kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was always delicious. One small suggestion about breakfast — it might be nice if it were set up more like a buffet, so guests could easily help themselves and choose their table, instead of feeling a little awkward reaching for food while others are seated. But honestly, this was not a big issue at all. What we really loved was the extra touch of hospitality: every afternoon, the staff brought us tea with local snacks, which made us feel like royalty. Those little details made our stay extra special. When we come back to Bali, Villa Wastra will always be on our list — it truly feels like home. 💛

Verified reviewVilla Wastra is a very special place. A visit to Villa Wastra enables you to imagine Bali before the arrival of global tourism. Surrounded by nature, it's situation and views are spectacular. The amenities are excellent and spotlessly clean. Not least are the friendly staff and Ibu Mariah who takes care of every detail.

Verified reviewOur stay here was truly unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, Maria and her staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Maria is such a warm and friendly host, always taking the time to chat with guests and make them feel at home. We also requested a dinner during our stay, and it turned out to be one of the best meals of our entire trip—an absolute highlight that made our experience even more special. The accommodation itself felt like a big palace, with breathtaking views that made us wish we could stay forever. Every moment here was magical, and we can't wait to return! Believe me, we've traveled the world and experienced our fair share of luxury hotels. What was different, Maria place feels like a homestay while you have your own entire big privet room, batheroom and kitchen while you can exprience the home local food and learn the local culture and stay with family.
Staying at Villa Wastra!!! it spoiled the rest of our trip! After leaving for another part of Bali, all we could think about was canceling the rest of our plans and going back to Maria’s place. Suggest you stay there at the last before you leave ;) If you want to geth around here you have to have a care or should use taxi as it is in countryside. We had our own car so it was perfect.

Verified reviewI was unprepared for how grand the buildings are. As other reviewers have said, the photos do NOT do it justice. It felt like a miniature palace with the stone walls and glossy stone floors. The breakfast pavilion is a thing of wonder with its views of the valley, the pool in the other direction and the intricate carved wood pillars and door entrance. Tini is the most amazing cook. She produced tons of delicious food, and I felt bad that I could only eat a few mouthfuls of each dish. Mariah, the owner, was very helpful on WhatsApp. She organised a woman to come from Ubud to do a massage for me, which was great.
The wifi wasn't working at the start of my stay. As I had to work, this was difficult - but it was working on the morning of my departure. There were no other guests there, so I joked that I felt a bit like Belle in Beauty and the Beast: Just me in this glorious palace with invisible staff! It was beautiful, though, and I felt like a princess.

Verified reviewVilla Wastra is probably the most beautiful place we’ve ever been. It’s true that it is not a centric as other places in Ubud but if you’re looking for a place off the beaten track where you can unwind and just listen to the birds chirping, this is the place. We were lucky to be the only guests, which made the experience more unique. Besides, Maria, the host, was extremely helpful and caring. I actually cried when leaving the house.
Thank you for your kind comments. You were grateful guests. Have an enjoyable trip traveling through Indonesia!

Verified reviewvilla wastra is spacious and beautiful. the rooms are gigantic, you feel like royalty. excellently equipped and pristine. i loved the terrace, pool and the host who spoke perfect english and was able to accommodate our requests.
the only downside you should take into consideration is the remote location so it is a bit of a fieldtip to go anywhere. even tho, perfect for a couple days of relaxing and recharging in nature.

Verified reviewHad a really nice stay at Villa Wastra. After a long driveway you'll reach a beautiful secluded villa which immediately felt very quiet and peaceful to me. This is the perfect place to come to rest and enjoy the view, also the room was huge! The owner Maria is very nice and I had really nice talks with her. In the evening its possible to get a really good homecooked dinner here and in the morning you can enjoy a great breakfast outside with a great view.
The only thing I can think of is that the wifi connection in my room was not strong enough, on the other hand its sometimes also nice to be offline. Especially in a place like this:)
Thank you for your nice review. WiFi in the mountains very often depends on the weather. We will do our best to improve.

Verified reviewIt was such a big luxurieus place in the middle of nowhere. Very quiet, it felt Royal. Very nice staff, very nice rooms, Abundance in quietness.
No AC, but no need, because it quite cool. Lack of proper restaurants even at a scooterable distance away.
