Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaA bar frig in room would have been handy.
True Balinese style accomodation set in the mountainside with amazing views over the harbour. There is walking access to town down fairly steep steps but it’s only 5min. The villa and family are super friendly and helpful, always smiling and there for anything. Basic rooms but have all you need (but no frig). Lovely little pool to cool off after walking the stairs too! And their turtles…wow, they are happy and well looked after and breeding…was pretty impressive. Highly recommend especially if heading over to the Gilis making it easy to get to the port.

Lovely Villa in the hill overlooking Padang Bai. Beautiful place and amazing staff. Marcel was really helpful, organising everything from transfers/ ferry tickets/ day trips. He also helped me arrange airport transfer, accommodation and ferry ticket/ transfer for my friend who arrived a few days later than us while we had already gone to Lombok. The rooms were very nice, each has a private bathroom, balcony and are fully air conditioned ( although i doubt youll need it being high up , it gets very cool at night.) To get into Padangbai town, there’s a set of stairs leading straight from the Villa. The stairs are quite steep but doable for many people. It takes around 5-10 mins and is a great workout on the calfs coming back up. The food is great at the Villa, for breakfast we had bowls of assorted fruit followed by your selection from the breakfast menu. For both mornings i opted for the banana pancake. On the last evening we had a delicious curry made by Marcel’s wife ( Maaf Ibu, saya lupa namamu 🙏) It was one of the best curries I’ve ever had ! Overall - we had a great experience at Villa Manouria and would recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in Padang Bai.

Australia170 steps to the town was challenging if done a few times a day or if it’s wet.
It’s up high so there are great views over the bay and Padang Bai. Quirky rooms. Lovely pool. Staff are brilliant. Nice food.

AustraliaDirections to the property was quite difficult. I think this should be mentioned on all the booking sites. More signs from the main road and on the way up the dirt road would be helpful. Also, more signs if you are walking up the steps to the property - it is very steep and there are a lot of steps
The room and pool were lovely. The staff were fantastic, my home cooked meal was delicious and the view over Padangbai was beautiful

United KingdomNothing - everything was great!
We had a short stay in Padangbai for some snorkelling and scuba diving, and this was the perfect place for us! Three of us shared a family room, which had an amazing view from the balcony. The owners and staff were so kind and lovely. We were treated to a great breakfast and coffee in the morning, and enjoyed watching all of the turtles and tortoises that live around the garden. There are plenty of great restaurants and cafes around the town, and the beach was popular too. We really recommend!

AustraliaThe property was up the hill, so to get to and from the town you have to walk up or down a Massive staircase of around 170 steps, but the view was worthy enough for the effort
Really beautiful villa, amazing views, the pool and surroundings were incredible beautiful. The owner was really nice and made sure my driver did not get lost as it was a bit difficult to arrive to the place so he picked me up in his car from another location and then drove me through the forest to the property. The owner was really welcoming and helped with all the questions I had. Breakfast with the most amazing view of the mountain and the sea, watching the sunrise and the food was really yum, great coffee

SingaporeThe room is spacious but really basic. the mosquito net is not covering the bed but it's true there's no a lot of mosquito. I can't really figure out how to lock my door but i only stayed for one night so i didn't bother to ask. bed is just soso. the toilet and shower is half outdoor so it's was a bit uncomfortable when i need to go to toilet when pouring rain. the villa itself is very cute though. basic breakfast.

NetherlandsThe only small downside was the not so hot shower, but it was not a dealbreaker for me. (Not cold, just not so hot).
This was a very good place! I loved the view, fantastic! The staff and owners were so friendly; they were very nice and helpful. Marcel is an enthousiastic man, as is his wife/partner. Good breakfast! Nice bed, comfy bedding, beautiful garden, you can buy cold drinks at a supermarket price from them, you can take some free snacks like crisps and kroepoek. Nice looking pool (didn't use it, but it looked good). The view comes with a lot of steps up ofcourse. When arriving and leaving you will use a taxi (theirs to the harbour is 50k which is absolutely reasonable). When you go into town you use the steps. A lot of them, but it is an easy short walk, just a lot of steps. If you don't want to go out, you can have dinner at the place itself. Nice balcony.

AustraliaI can’t think of anything. Just that you would need good mobility to stay here as you can’t easily ride a motorbike to the villa, so lots of steps to the town and back. There’s also steep steps to get to your rooms. Also the bathrooms are outside so I shared mine with a little frog. I enjoyed it but I guess it wouldn’t be for everyone.
I loved my time at the villa and didn’t want to leave. It has such a beautiful view over Padang bai. Looking at the view while eating fruit for breakfast and drinking coffee was perfect. Marcel and Mari and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable which I always appreciate as a solo female traveller. There’s also a den of tortoises on the property which were fun to watch. Also beautiful gardens and ponds. There’s a lot of steps to get down to the town but I enjoyed the view on the way down and walking through the ally’s past the houses. I recommend the white sand beach and the second hand bookshop nearby!
