How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Enjoyed the dog Vino. Breakfast was Fantastic. Fresh fruit every morning. Homemade Jams. Chocolate Chip Cookies in your room. Wifi great. Very comfortable rooms. Bed was like a cloud. My partner, requested a fluffier pillow, no problem. Couldn’t be happier. Looking forward to staying again. Location perfect for us.

A loose Rottweiler that was loose and bit my daughter skin was not punctured but I had fear of the dog that I didn’t enjoy the property as much as I should or could have.
I am very sorry that the puppy nipped at your adult daughter. You did not mention it to me. She was playing with him a lot. He is in intense training and we are trying to get him more domesticated as he is a rescue pup. Again, I am very sorry that this occurred. We do try to keep him inside our office but of course, that's impossible all of the time.

So quiet and serene in the beautiful garden.Sharyn was the perfect host , giving us all the tips we needed for our short stay . She has thought of everything you could possibly need . The staff were just lovely and happy , nothing was too much trouble. Great coffee and breakfast to start each day .

A Sulphur smell, evidently from the bore water supply, meant the room was permanently smelling like sewerage. This was no-one's fault though.

Overbearing host, Rottweiler dog on premises which was also let loose and out of control. Damaged bathroom on arrival needed repairs. Glass was discovered beside the fridge. Uncomfortable pillows and bed. Sheets weren't changed daily. Hostess provided an optional laundry service which was expensive.
I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. The first thing I said to you after I greeted you, was "you know we have a big dog" and you said yes but you had not told your wife and she said she was scared of big dogs. You ignored this fact. The dog does not roam the property at night and is mostly out of the property exercising or inside our closed office. I do understand that some people are justifiably scared of dogs but Bali is not the place to come if that's a problem, as there are so many street dogs. As was explained to you, and apologised for, a 70 cm x 70 cm granite side of the bathroom vanity fell off and smashed an hour before your arrival. The breakage was cleaned up and the granite supplier & tradesmen were contacted but it could not be repaired immediately because , like all over the world, there is a shortage of tradespeople. It has now been replaced I apologise that some of the broken glass was missed but, in fairness, you did accidentally break the glass yourself. All the pillows are memory foam pillows but if you found them uncomfortable , all you had to do was ask & they could easily be replaced. To do a load of laundry, we do it same day and iron as well for NZ $10.00. You always have the option of going to the commercial laundry 100 metres from the property if this doesn't suit you. Verified reviewThe pretty garden, well established, with birds flying around. The lovely pool, with view of carp and turtles! The easy going, safe, relaxing site. Chilled water in our room. Great choice at breakfast. Fab laundry service!
The very busy main road nearby that was tricky to cross! (Although, as our host had advised, we could easily have solved this buy using a great value App Based burger.

Verified reviewAmazing experience from go to whoa, Sharon and Terry were fantastic hosts and their four staff members are very friendly and efficient. The accommodation is quite astounding and great value for money. The gardens and 40 metre long pool are simply beautiful. Only has 4 rooms and they are all decorated differently and tastefully and an added bonus their own filtered and potable water supply. Anyone who has been to Bali before will know what a bonus that is.
Feeling guilty after my gorgeous a la carte breakfast each morning.

Verified reviewIt is a small slice of paradise among the hustle and bustle of Bali. Once the main door is closed it is so peaceful and the garden and pool is amazing. Our suite was lovely. A big bonus is you can drink the tap water! Terry and Sharyn are friendly and helpful. Lovely hosts. The other staff were so lovely and friendly too providing wonderful breakfast each day and keeping the rooms perfect.

Verified reviewVilla Costa Plenty was a wonderful place to stay. With only 4 guest rooms, it feels like a friendly, family atmosphere. We were introduced to the other guests and the staff on arrival, so everyone was on first name terms. Breakfast was great, with plenty of choice on the menu. Everyone eats at a large outdoor table, giving opportunity to chat and get to know other guests. The villa has its own water treatment, so it's safe to drink the tap water. Very welcome after spending the previous week drinking only bottled water. The room was very spacious and had supplies beyond our expectations. Sharyn goes out of her way to ensure her guests are comfortable and have everything they need. Anything we didn't have, we felt we could ask for and it wouldn't be too much trouble. The location is excellent, in a quiet side street, and only a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants and Sanur Beach. The cost is more than a hotel but we felt it was well worth the extra, given the level of comfort and service. Would definitely stay here again on any future visit to Bali.
