How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Property was hard to find. Even with Waze the driver was lost.
Thank you for choosing villa bella during your stay in Bali. 🙏🏻💙 So sorry you got lost, because of the driver. Our house keeper said the driver was just new and still learning how to drive in Bali. It was not his car he used. But we were actually already registerd on google. The taxi driver just needs to type " Villa Bella J388 " which surely will go exactly to our address at the dead end of the road, Jalan Mipa. Not sure about Waze though, but I thought it uses also google.

Verified reviewVilla was amazing! Each rooms has a very big space and so comfortable. it feels homey to me. The host was helpful, very kind and responsive on every single questions i have. My favourite spot on this villa is the 2nd floor (the middle bedroom) and the rooftop, as it is facing straight to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK). We really enjoyed this Villa.
There is nothing i dont like about this Villa actually. But if i have to mention one, maybe just the position of this villa is in the corner to the dead end, which is a little bit tricky to park or in and out the car. But the good thing, no one is passing by.. so it's quiet and no disturbing. So that is not a problem at all, we can managed it well, and enjoyed the villa so much. Thankyou!
Thank you so much dear, we love to have you.. Hopefully we will see you again in future..

Verified reviewThree cameras to monitor part of the pool, the garage and all comings and goings at the villa for security purposes.
Our week at this villa was a nightmare, starkly contrasting the glowing reviews that lured us in. What was meant to be a relaxing family vacation turned into a distressing ordeal. The pool, instead of being an oasis, was a health hazard. After numerous requests to have the water tested, we discovered that the maintenance was dangerously inadequate, leading to skin irritation, burning eyes, and bleached swimsuits, making it unsafe for our children to swim. On top of that, frequent electrical outages with circuit breakers tripping repeatedly despite our minimal energy usage and a faulty pump caused a water shortage. The neighbor’s construction work made the house vibrate in the evenings, shattering any hope for peace. The most disturbing was the owner’s incompetence and unprofessional behavior. She denied our experiences, deflecting responsibility onto us. Her unfounded accusations of us being aggressive toward the locals and messing with her house were completely baseless and unacceptable. She imposed a early departure three days early, threatening to involve the police (business partner) if we didn’t comply. I really dont get the reasons that made her act like that and, of course, I’m still waiting for my promised refund…
Dear Sir, we have for a few days really tried hard to please you and we definitely don’t want guests to feel they have to go through a terrible ordeal. We are a single unit property who rent it out at a very competitive price. We don’t make much money after bookingcom commission and taxes. We have to pay for third party services to perform regular pool maintenance. We provide free internet, free drinking water, free accessories, free cleaning every 3 days etc. For the small amount we charge and taking off all the listed items and fees, you can imagine there is not much left. In your case we actually spent a lot of money to keep you happy as our guest. In combination with excessive use of electricity, water etc., we actually lost money during your stay. That is ok, but we just wanted to put this in context of your review. After there was a temporary water outage and we fixed that, you kept on complaining that it happened on the first place. However, in any house sometimes things break and this was truly bad luck. We permanently fixed it though within 12 hours. For the price we charge we can’t afford dedicated staff (like 5 star hotels), so we rely on contractors and they work mostly during normal office hours. The other issue was that you were not following our house rules, such as moving our furniture from 2nd floor to ground floor and moving our expensive marble heavy bar. This slightly damaged our tiles, threw the water and salt into our power supply CCTV which is the CCTV is important in this property, the machine for our pool also broken. About the pool, we actually maintain a high quality private pool and we swam in it many times ourselves including our seven years old daughter and her friends from when she was four. Also other guests never complained. Neverthelss when you complained your kids felt some itchyness we immediately took it seriously. The chlorine was around 2 to 2.5 ppm, less than the maximum 3 ppm acceptable for outdoor public pools, but a bit higher than normally used in private pools (the requirement is lower in private pools). The pH was around 8, a bit higher than ideal, but lower than the 8.5 before public pools get closed. Drinking water in Western countries is allowed to be even higher. If people can drink up to 8.5 pH water, it definitely is safe to swim in it, but you claimed the pool was unsafe. Nevertheles we acknowledged that you wanted the pool water in the exact ideal range of 7.4 to 7.7 and chlorine below 2. So we asked our pool maintenance to do that. But after our pool contractor had been there, you said the pH was now too low. Unfortunately the next day it was Sunday, when our pool maintenance is not available. So we asked you to dilute the water with fresh tap water, which because of the excessive water usage caused a water problem, which we also fixed asap by bringing in more contractors. After fixing that, you were still not happy and we asked another pool maintenance company to give an independent view. You said it was the same company. The fact that they know each other doesn’t mean it is the same company. Local people often know each other, especially when working in same business. Because you were according to them disrespectful, they left agitated after putting the soda ash into the pool. Because your behaviour came across as abrasive to our cleaner and pool contractors and you accused other contractors of stealing, we were faced with a situation where our cleaner didn’t want to come anymore and also two different pool contractors refused to come back. Combined with you not following the house rules contributed to asking you to leave. We had no choice. For us the entire experience has also been very stressful. We are often not in Bali ourselves, so rely on our cleaner and other contractors, but when they all don’t want to come anymore that tells something. You deny you were disrepectful. We have no way to verify, but given the situation we either had to call even more people to replace those who didn’t want to come anymore or cut the stay short. It is really unfortunate it had to come to this, because we always try to make our guests happy. We have instructed booking.com already before you left to reimburse the last 3 days of your stay. We are not in control when booking.com will reimburse you. So please deal with them. For the rest we wish you and your family the best and we hope that you consider to be more respectful to local people in Bali next time. We also acknowledge your rating, which we understand you lowered because you were not happy about the unsustainable situation and that you “couldn’t use the pool”, even although the pool was within acceptble specs. The pool maintenance contractors are servicing many private pools in the area, so if our pool would have a problem, many other pools would have the same problem. Private property owners rely on third party services. We have no control over this, even although in this case the pool was actually ok. On the power trips, as long as you don’t switch on everyrhing in the house at the same time, the system can handle it. Only one guest before had the same issue, but when we advised them not to waste power, it was ok. But you made a an issue about it. We believe that being responsible with energy is the right thing to do. You say you did that, but when we look at the usage, it indicates the opposite. Nevertheless we will be upgrading the power before the end of the year. Lastly on the noise from the neighbour, we didn’t know that this would happen. They didn’t inform us. However after you told us, we asked them to limit noise from 10 AM to 6 PM, which they promised to adhere to. This is not that we don’t understand your point of view, but given the circumstances this is all we can do. We were told that before end of the month the construction will stop and then we expect things to be back to normal. If you rent a private property in a neighbouthood you need to remember that comes with certain risks of things going on around it, that the owner has no control over and in most cases the owner is as surprised as the guests when that happens. This is not refusing accountability. It is just being realisitc what we can control and what we can’t control.
