How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis homestay is one of the best we’ve stayed in during our 4 month travels! The room and bathroom are very clean and comfortable (amazing hot shower!!) and the whole place just breathes good vibes. The family that runs it makes sure you are having the best time and are super friendly! Big bonus: the super cute black fluffy cat!

Verified reviewVenezia Homestay has so far been the most memorable place we stayed during our South East Asia trip. This gorgeous homestay offers great facilities; a spacious room, an open-top shower, a lovely pool, lots of stunning garden space and more. Our host Aji was fantastic, friendly and without him and his team this place wouldn't be the same. We enjoyed many conversations together and felt that we became good friends during our stay! We had a problem with the AC on the first day, and Aji quickly serviced the machine to get it to work. The breakfast was fantastic, and we got to try various local meals during our visit. Every morning we also received tasty fruit. There is a communal fridge that you can use. There is free coffee and tea and a kitchen for use too. The place is well-located and easy to get around. We made many trips to all the sights in Yogyakarta with a grab. There are many shops, cafes, restaurants and other facilities, such as a laundry shop nearby. We miss the sounds of the mosque and geckoes at night! Thank you so much for such a memorable, fantastic stay. We wish you all the best and hope to be able to see you again. Terima kasih banyak!
Sound travels easily and sometimes kids swim here early (7 am) so good idea to bring ear plugs.
Hallo Mr Greg and Wife Thanks a lot for your review We are very grateful to serve you, when both of you stayed at Venezia Garden God Bless You and Your Happy Wife See You Next Year I Hope King Regards

Verified reviewThis is very authentic place with the very welcoming staff, it's also calm and peaceful (unless some extravertial guests won't have fun in the pool). Breakfasts are simple but hearty. Unlimited coffee and tea. Fair value.
I would rate it higher if the bathroom was cleaner and without those stinky anti-insect pills on the shower floor.
Thanks a lot for stay with Venezia we Will clean it more carefully and erase that stinky anti insects pills policy in our room thanks a lot for the support

Verified reviewA cute environment with very decent rooms. Clean ! Kind and friendly staff. Functional wifi. Free drinking water. Scrambled eggs or fried noodles for breakfast. Well located. Would stay here again !
The homestay is exactly besides a mosque, so the prayer calls in the middle of the night and morning are very loud and the sound isolation is very poor. The bathrooms only have thin bamboo doors. The pool is more for decoration than for use.

Verified reviewLovely little homestay in a good location in Yogyakarta. Stayed in a private room which were small but comfortable with a wardrobe, AC, multiple plugs and an outdoor shower with hot water! The location was near to an indomart, restaurants and Jl. Prawirotaman street which had lots of cafes, restaurants and bars on. Staff were really friendly and helpful with arranging trips.
Only downsides were that the pool looked abit cloudy so we didn’t go in, but it did get cleaned regularly. The musalla and speaker phone were next to the home stay meaning we were woken up every morning at 5am because it was extremely loud even with earplugs!

Verified reviewGood location..one of the only places I stayed in with a reading lamp next to the bed. Great bed and nice sheets.
A bit noisy. The sound of the mosque, but that is in so many places in Java, but I was sleeping on the ground floor and could almost understand the people next to me or above me...couldn't figure that out.

Verified reviewThe location was good, the room was comfortabe with AC. The pool was nice and the breakfast was simple but good. I would definitively come back. The staff was really kind and helpful
I think that the team can improve their intern communication as I asked beforehand to extend my stay (it got approved), checked 2 times during my stay if that was ok (it was) and the day o f the extension they told me we had to move. I argued and showed them that I had the confirmation and could stay but that was not a pleasant expérience.

Verified reviewWe did enjoy everything at the homestay, especially the swimming pool. The breakfast was good, and they offered either Asian or Western breakfast. The staff members were very friendly. Mas Achmad and mas Ajik were very nice and helpful. The location of the homestay was quite strategic. It was located in a quite area, perfect for a quite evening while listening to water fountain in the homestay. If you want to have a little night life, the area was not far from Prawirotaman (could be reached by walking), which I called a little Bali. Cleanliness was fine. It was clean, but could be better. If I had a chance, I would like to stay there again :)
So far, everything was fine, but room cleanliness could be better.
thanks a lot for the stays with us... hope can serve more than before, have a great days 🙏

Verified reviewBeautiful place (room was beautiful! Garden / shared area was lush and cute!). Very friendly staff! James answered many of our questions. Good breakfast and good location! The pool was super too.
Nothing! We had a room on the second floor (which was quieter and more private than rooms on the first floor which face the pool; if you’re a light sleeper you might want to request a second floor room)

Verified reviewI like the stay in Venezia so much, I even extended to 4 days instead of one night. Aji is a very smart and fun person, you can have endless discussion with him. He helped me with every single thing with my trip from booking my train to Jakarta to updating my trip details, he was always there to give a hand and help me with the best tips. His brother James too is very smart and we had very good discussion about history and startups.
