Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

In the middle of the rice fields with views on the volcano, Vanilla Garden is simple yet authentic with the owners and his family so attentive and friendly

If you wanna experience a genuine nature experience, this is a place to stay. The food, the people, the location... all are perfect for a great Lombok taste.

South AfricaAs it’s quite secluded would recommend a scooter to get around, which wasn’t a problem for us :)
It was beautiful and secluded, stunning nature, lovely room, spacious bathroom and the most delicious dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great value for money.

United StatesLong walk from road. Maybe 200 meters? You’ll never find it by yourself. Have someone from the hotel meet you at the road to show you the way.
Beautiful property. Very far from noisy road.

FranceAccess to the property is a bit tricky as you get dropped off at the end of the tiny street and have to walk the rest of the way on some unmarked path. We got lost a couple of times.
Very amazing guest house with lots of greenery (plants, rice fields…). Exceptional staff that accommodated us with a afternoon long trip of the surrounding waterfalls, traditional sarung making visit and bamboo threading. The food on site was great for its price. The room was full of charm and very comfortable.

Made to feel very welcome by all the staff. Excellent tour of some local attractions with Hadi including scooter rental - highly recommend doing the tour with a guide (even from someone who doesn't normally like this!).

NetherlandsThe location of this homestay is simply wonderful, in between the rice fields and surrounded by trees and nature. The accommodation is simple, but very charming and comfortable. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and does everything to make you feel at home. The diner and the breakfast cooked by the staff was also delicious. One of the staff members, Ema, took me on a daytour to the monkey forest, rice fields, waterfall etc. We had a lot of fun and it felt like touring around with a good friend. He also thought me a lot about the nature and culture in Lombok. Highly recommended!

CanadaFantastic location in individual huts amongst the rice terraces, vegetable fields and palm trees. Early morning call to prayer filled the valley adding to the overall experience. Better still was the service and eco-tour provided by the family and his assistants. They were attentive, informative and pridefully shared their village life to us. Just book this place, you wont regret it.

NetherlandsUnfortunately our shower was cold. But this can apparently be fixed.
The location is simply wonderful, in the middle of the rice fields, surrounded by trees and water. The staff was incredibly friendly, even for Indonesian standards (which are already very high). Would also recommend eating here, especially the tofu/tempe curry. Would recommend staying here to everyone

United KingdomThe property a bit hard to find, but got there after asking a few villagers (it’s a few hundred metres and a couple of turns off the main road). Rain on the metal roof at night was quite loud. The included breakfast was delicious but I would have welcomed some bread or fruit with the omelette!
Beautiful little cabins nestled between rice fields - really idyllic. Mat and the rest of the crew were very kind and welcoming, cooked good food (even if it took a little bit of time sometimes..!), and Mat took me to visit the various sights around the area while telling me a lot about the area and how he’s come to create Vanilla Garden with his uncle. The showers were nice and warm.

United KingdomNothing, highly recommend staying here. It was a highlight of our month long trip.
Beautiful location with the most friendly and welcoming staff. They treat you like family and help you to learn about the local area. The huts are beautiful in the middle of rice paddies and forest, it's very relaxing. Incredible views when you're eating and the fresh food was amazing, best food we've eaten on our trip. We did the day tour and loved it because we were able to see so much.

We really liked the stay in Vanilla Garden! We’ve had a really warm welcome from the hosts when we arrived and directly felt at home in the serene location with a lot of beautiful flora at the rice fields and with the beautiful scenery. One of the hosts helped us very good to be a tour guide for us around Tetebatu for 1,5 days and also cooked the best food for us we’ve had in lombok. Would definitely recommend.

New ZealandA good 200m off the road but that's part of the charm. No aircom but it's generally cooler in Tetebatu so it's usually no problem.
Good breakfast and yummy meals! Mat, Adie and Uncle were great and views out over the paddies are very soothing. Had some great scooter tours around to waterfalls, coconut factory and lots of spices. Listen for the pigeon flocks with bells.

Loved my stay! Had the best tour organized by Hadi. I only spend here 2 nights, but it felt like longer since we saw a lot within one day:D The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the music, rice wine and the bonfire. Although I was travelling by myself, it didn't feel like that :) It is right that it is not close to the center, but that was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for the experience!

IrelandThis is possibly the best place we have ever stayed. The location is amazing, set amongst the rice terraces. The bamboo cottages are really well made and comfortable with their own private bathroom with plenty of space. You can get delicious indonesian food there as well, everything fresh and homemade. The accommpdation itself is incredible, but what makes this place so special is the people that work here. So friendly and helpful and always eager to show you how proud they are of where they live. They could not have done more for us on our stay. The tours they offer give you a real insight into the local culture as well as the stunning scenery and waterfall swimming spots around the area. If you're considering booking this place, just do it. It won't let you down.

BrazilThe place is a bit hidden within the rice fields, but the staff were waiting for us on arrival and helped us carrying our bags to our rooms, so it wasn’t a bit issue for us. There are no restaurants nearby, but they also provide food upon request, which was really good.
The place is very quiet and peaceful, the rooms are basic but worth what we pay, and the views from the room are beautiful. The staff are friendly and very helpful. My friend got sick during our stay and Yusuf was extremely helpful to make sure she had everything she needed to recover.
