How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery nice location. Rooms were spacious and nice. We were in the middle of rice fields immersed in nature while still within 25 min of Ubud city center. Staff was friendly although a bit inexperienced.
The food. Plenty of better options outside at a way lower price point. For breakfast for example it's disappointind to come all the way to Bali to drink watered down fruit juice, or such bad coffee. You will enjoy the rooms and the scenery. Don't eat there - not even breakfast. Staff was nice but could not understand all our requests. Pool also a bit disappointing - quite small.

Sometimes taxi drivers take the wrong exit and then you need to walk a bit. Unless you want to take a very steep, dirty walk in a local area, there's no shop or restaurant around. If you take this challenging path, it's only 3 minutes to the main road. The area has a "no Grab policy" event though it's sometimes possible to get a grab. The hotel can provide a taxi.though.
Dear Gerjan K, Warmest greetings from Ubud Luwih Nature Retreat! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful feedback. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay in our Family House and that our caring team and delicious breakfast made your experience special. The pool is lovely and well maintained, the rooms are spacious, comfortable for resting, and cleaned daily. Plus, you can order breakfast, dinner, and massages directly to your room without paying extra for room service. I loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The breakfast and Western food could be improved. Also I recommend to make the entrance as beautiful as the inside!

The only complaint is that the bed is not comfortable for me.

Verified reviewWe had an amazing experience at Luwih Retreat Nature Villa. From the moment we checked in, the staff—Made, Iluh,Kadek,Komang,Wayan Edwin —went above and beyond to make our stay special. They helped us arrange our itinerary, help us rent motorbikes, and gave great local tips throughout our trip. The breakfast was rich and delicious every morning, served with great coffee and a genuinely friendly atmosphere that’s hard to find—especially at such a reasonable price. The peaceful natural setting added so much to the experience. We were a group of 6 people and all of us left feeling fully satisfied and grateful. If you're considering booking—don’t hesitate. This place is a true gem!
A bit away from city centre( 7-9 minutes ride)

Verified reviewThis place is outstanding, from the moment you check in, you are treated like family, the accommodation is just amazing, so clean and so well designed, the pool is just perfect, the breakfast is amazing and very filling. I would also highly recommend eating dinner here aswell it's some of the best food I have ever tried. The staff are just simply amazing, and whatever you need, they go out off their way to sort it. Great local knowledge off the area and will direct you to the best places to go. I would highly recommend it, and I will definitely be coming back. The only issue I had is that we didn't stay longer. This is how a hotel should be run.
I loved everything, just a tip your in a middle off rice field's so don't complain about the sounds of grasshoppers and the geckos

We sincerely hope to welcome you back for a longer stay next time. Until then, thank you once again for your trust and kind recommendation. Best Regards Ubud Luwih Nature Retreat

Verified revieweverything were perfect, the room's interior, location, food, most welcoming staff, very calm and peaceful place, good to observe stars at the night there is two different roads toward the hotel, and one is a good one! so, don't be afraid, if your taxi driver comes from a different one the good and safe road is in the middle of rice fileds, if you rent a bike, check it out, dont try yourself on the steep one

Verified reviewLocation is very beautiful together with architecture. The staff is very nice and gentle, available when needed help! Overall they make good effort and the people are so nice but much room for improvement here!!
The place needs to improve their hospitality. If you have a host coming (I was the only one at the place) and the website says there is a restaurant, there should be. I arrived and they told me that since no one was there before there was no food available… a bit disappointing. Then, they asked me to choose my breakfast menu and time at arrival which I found a bit too much. Every day had to choose for next day breakfast time and menu choice, this is not a good thing. Also they need to improve their service style. Cleaning was fine but bathroom needs to be more taken care of, especially walls and floor with a nice deep cleaning. Also, I slept all my four nights with a Geko in my room that would start singing in the middle of the night (I adapted no problem) but when I told the staff they told me they knew ??? Without any excuse or anything. So if you know there is a Geko living in the room, you should put that in the website so the traveller knows! I do understand that is a Nature stay, that is what I was looking, but not inside the room. Also, to mention VERY BAD ROAD to get there

Verified reviewI liked the large room, along with the shower which was nice warm water and the staff ( Wayan, Made, Tadek, Ilu, Wayan and Comeng) were wonderful, friendly and attentive. The location is definitely out of the main tourist route, so made it very nice and relaxing
Not a lot to dislike, if anything i would say the road to the retreat is in need of repair. Also since the bathroom is open air, there is a large possibility, you'll get some insects in your room

Lizards, frogs, butterflies, nature lovers paradise. Food was good too. Easy to get into town but feels like you are miles away. Highly recommend.

Verified reviewThe best thing about Ubud Luwih are the peaceful surroundings and the staff ! It is a very small complex so you don't see the other guests much. We've enjoyed all our breakfast options. The Restaurant is also open for lunch dinner or snacks so it is handy when you don't want to leave the villa ..Congratulations to the young cook. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was big with a lovely bath, great water pressure and instant hot water. It was situated next to an old rice field(amazingly no mosquitoes) very private with a little garden. The pool was clean and well maintained. It is outside Ubud but with Grab car service it is around $4 AUD
Nothing very important
