Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaThe toilets could have been better. Very basic and no hot water for shower.
Loved the location Perfect place to begin the hike to Mount Batur. Also loved to have private the hot springs just opposite my room to enjoy. Also arranged a private guide for the hike at short notice.

FranceThe bathroom is the smallest I've ever seen. The place is not insulated from noise and actually very close to the main road, where traffic is heavy in the middle of the night, due to all people going to climb Mt Batur. So, you just cannot sleep well there. Just go climb Batur with everybody else !
This is a charming and practical little place, it is nice to stay there. The swimming pool with hot spring water is really enjoyable, and relatively private (I was alone in it for hours).

AustraliaBed was on the floor… which wasn’t great for my sore legs (a me problem more than anything!). Hadn’t really considered that the bathroom was completely seperate to the room. So had to leave room to do bathroom stuff. Had to ask staff to fill the wee pools outside the huts so didn’t bother.
Cute little huts. Stayed dark for extra sleep. Staff, although didn’t speak great English, were very helpful. Arranged guide for my trek. Offered bike hire. Laundry was right out front. Lovely natural spring pool. Easy walk to shops. Quick scooter ride to start of mt Batur trek. Cool location

ItalyI’m not sure how this place has such a high rating. The bed sheets and room had an unpleasant smell. The room had no proper light, just a small lamp with exposed wires hanging next to the bed. No aircon remote, and no hot water in the shower. To make matters worse, there was no water at all in the evening or the following morning.
Clean room, lovely surroundings and a fantastic hot pool. Very friendly staff and a nice breakfast!

FranceA lot of flies during the day, making any moment outside quite unpleasant. The bathroom are of minimum confort and size, you get what you pay for.
Manager and his family are really nice and welcoming, always doing their best to provide a good experience. The hot steams were really appreciated, as well as the banana pancake breakfast. We booked a guide with the hotel (Lia), who was a really nice guide and also provided a good experience.

United KingdomThe road noise is a problem. Trucks go past all hours of the night, so it's difficult to get a lot of sleep before a sunrise hike. Alternatively you could just bring good earplugs!
Really nice little complex, and the family that run it are absolutely lovely. The hot spring/pool is a really nice feature and great for soaking your feet after climbing Mount Batur. Bed is very comfortable as well.

AustraliaThe shower facilities could be a little bit neater.
The hot pool is quite spacious. The site set up is very cosy. I loved laying in the hot pool gazing at the stars at night. The pool is on the doorstep of the huts (in a circle surrounding the pool). The owner was welcoming.

Czech Republicstaff not very friendly; reluctant to prepare breakfast earlier than at 8am even when very kindly asked, and quite slow with it anyway – we lost a lot of time early in the morning when we could be already climbing the volcano the triangle bungalows are very small, quite a cramped space inside with smaller beds than usual, a tiny bathroom aside the hut with cold water only a bit overpriced for the value given
good location below Mt. Batur, perfect for morning climb up to the summit without any overpriced guide hot spring pool is tiny and shallow (the given photo is misleading) but really hot, pleasant and relaxing

SpainAfter a shower the water in the bathroom didn’t drain properly.
It is located next to the road but hidden away. The rooms are oriented around the hot spring water pool which is a real treat. They have a lot of natural vegetation and it’s well looked after.

United KingdomThe towels were useless, and they and the bed sheets smelt of damp. The bathroom was outside, (which was fine), but it didn’t drain so there was a puddle in the bathroom the whole time. We were also checked in by kids (??)

Owner very friendly and helpful. He helped with the hike sending his nephew-a very young boy who is really fit and knows his way around Mt Batur. Managed to get to the peak with a few shortcuts to reduce hiking time as we were slower than others. Overall a great experience.
