Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing….it was lovely !
The perfect place for a quiet, chilled stay after a busy time travelling. So quiet and peaceful. Hera and Michael and their staff were superb hosts. Friendly, informative, very helpful organising transport etc. Great breakfasts! The evening meals we ate there were great too. Lovely pool and snorkelling straight from hotel frontage.

AustraliaShame the beach nearby has a rubbish issue. This resort is super clean but the nearby beaches were littered. The locals really need to get on top of this. Apart from this, this place is paradise
Great spot, tucked away and super quiet. Staff were amazing, food was fantastic, clean rooms, decent wifi and air con worked great

AustraliaWe were there in the off season and sadly the property looked really neglected. We were unable to use the pool the entire stay as it was green. They said it was from the recent rain but the resort next doors pool was okay. They tried desperately to get it clean for us so hopefully it’s ok by now.
The bungalows were large with a lovely bathroom and very clean. The staff were great with organising snorkeling trips for us and the two other guests that were there. They were very friendly and their children a delight. There is no fridge or tea making in the bungalow but they happily made us tea or coffee whenever we liked. The included breakfast was simple but great. Eggs of any type or pancake, toast and jam, fresh fruit and tea or coffee. We ate at the neighbouring resort at night as their menu was much more extensive.

United KingdomIt is positioned over the quieter side of Gili Gede but it didn't hamper us, perfectly easy getting taxi boats around & Ilan provided transport for our snorkelling trip - which was incredible btw. Gili Layar & blue coral.
Fabulous place, staff were amazing Suri, Rohan and Ilhan couldn't have done more for us as a family. Rooms were spacious and the bungalows just beautiful. The pool was a particular highlight and breakfasts were very good.

United KingdomIt was quiet which was lovely, but for some people being a 20 minute walk from the main part of the village might be a downside if you wanted to go to a bar or another restaurant. The kitchen staff were a little bit disorganised with our breakfast orders. On both days that we were there we had to follow most requests up and mistakes were made. I think having pedal bikes or motorbikes to borrow or rent as some other places do would be a good idea.
We loved the well planted garden, the beauty of the place, the sculptures, the pool, the comfortable rooms and lovely bathrooms- a high level of attention to detail. Hera and the kitchen staff were friendly. The one evening meal I had - a curry - was fabulous. We loved Hera’s grandchildren too! There is some quite good snorkelling in front but it relies on a high tide.

GermanyAs we wanted to snorkel we were a little bit disappointed about the reef in front of the resort. It was not possible to snorkel there directly. In addition there was only a small offer of food and drinks.
Overall we had a great stay at the Papalagi. The Resort is quite small and we were the only guests. At first it was a little bit suspicious, however the humble stuff turned it into a very „local like“ adventure. They were so kind tried to give us always a happy and welcoming feeling. Especially Ilham was really kind and tried to help us with every topic we had. Also the cook (unfortunately don’t know her name) was very kind and her food was exceptionally good. The garden and the pool were very beautiful and if you want to relax it’s definitely the right spot for you. We highly recommend to walk into the local villages. It’s really interesting and you can get an authentic view on how the locals are living

DenmarkThe communication with the resort before my arrival was not optimal. I requested transportation by boat from Kokomo (the arrival point of the Gili Getaways ferry on the other side of Gili Gede) to the Papalagi resort and also got what I thought was a confirmation on WhatsApp. However, when I arrived, nobody was waiting, so I had to contact the resort again. The Kokomo restaurant was not the worst place to wait, so it did not really matter, but I am still not sure what went wrong. Some debris sometimes drifts onto the beach, depending on the current. When I was there, it was mostly in the evening, so it did not affect my snorkelling during the day. However, the employees are very concerned about it and try to influence stakeholders in Lombok and Bali to keep the water free of debris, although this may be an uphill battle.
Excellent place with really nice and hearty breakfast included. The rooms are fine with a good bathroom - I did not get a look at the bungalows, which are more expensive. Hir and the other staff are very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The food is very good but expensive, as it probably is in all resorts in Indonesia. You can see the sunrise up on the hill behind the resort, which is a bit difficult to get to, but the sunsets are to die for. However, to me the main selling point was the coral reef, which was directly accessible from the beach: A short swim across the sea grass will take you to some healthy coral and a lot of fish. The water was not crystal clear but still great. Also, the 3 hour snorkel safari to 4 different sites was very good value for the money. The best of these places was really the northwest beach of Gili Gede, which you can also reach by foot; it features some amazing blue staghorn coral and lots of fish (and very clear water). Bruno, the sweet, young Rottweiler, is actually quite reserved, so you have to earn his friendship, meaning that if you would rather not engage with him, he will let you be.

ItalyI recently stayed at this beautiful resort on Gili Gede. The bungalows are charming, comfortable, and perfectly blend with the natural surroundings, offering stunning views and a true island escape. What makes this place even more special is the couple who run it. They are absolutely wonderful—warm, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. You immediately feel at home, yet also like you are part of something unique and authentic. If you are looking for an experience beyond the typical tourist trail, this is the perfect place. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to disconnect from the rush of everyday life and immerse themselves in genuine island living. The atmosphere is peaceful, the setting is breathtaking, and everything feels authentic and unspoiled. I recommend this resort if you want to experience Gili Gede in the most authentic and heartfelt way.

United KingdomWiFi was temperamental in the room, but that is to be expected when you are on a remote island!
Such a beautiful place, the private beach is breathtaking at sunset. It’s a very relaxing, peaceful and scenic place. Recommend for anyone wanting to escape the busy touristy islands! Lots of great snorkelling spots on your door step, and just a 15min walk to the other villages. We loved Gili Gede, and recommend people to visit this place

ItalyWe had a bad experience with our booking: despite cancelling a wrong booking after few seconds they denied us a refund. No common sense. The location is on the wrong side of the island, no beach. Poor service at the restaurant. Disappointing and not recommended at all. Difficult communication due to language barrier.
The resort itself it's ok.
