This place had amazing old world charm. The central garden make you feel as though you are not in a city at all. They even had a sweet little bird filling the area with beautiful song (He could do with some enrichment toys in his cage though). The restaurant is very nice and I enjoyed the breakfast. Bonus mystery, there is a little door in the room that leads to a ladder and passages and my husband was fascinated by it. It does lock so I don' think you are in danger of nightime visitors but it did lead to interesting conversations about what it was for.

NetherlandsPeople are allowed to smoke in the hallways/ corridors. That is disgusting. No vegan protein options in the restaurant; but you have this problem all over Indonesia.
Nice inner court yard / garden style. 'Roman' styling. Good restaurant, prices not higher than outside. Extremely friendly staff. Very extended breakfast. Silent AC in room. Convenient location for walking to Jodipan rainbow village. Not far from train station.

SwitzerlandBut the rooms very old and not what you would expect from the pictures. It was dirty and the water in the bathroom was leaking and not warm. They tried to fix it once we told the staff. I think it's still good value for the money but do not expect what the name might suggest.

MoroccoThe pictures are really beautiful, but don't be fooled by them. Everything in the hotel is really outdated and uncomfortable. The room is really small, there are way better hotels in Malang for the same price. Our room had cockroaches in it and was full of flies. Upon telling the staff, they came in our room to take pictures of all our stuff, even digging through the trash to find something to blame us for the problem. The breakfast itself was nice, we could eat between 6 and 10 am. The staff called us at 8 am to ask if we still wanted breakfast and that they would wait until 10 for us. They did this every morning, waking us up of course.
The fountain from the pictures in the middle is really nice and calming. The hotel is on a busy street, but no noise inside the hotel. The staff was friendly, but didn't speak any English.
