Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaAircon needs some service done Needs some maintenance but what place in Bali doesn’t
This place is in a great position, walking distance to shops and restaurants. At the back of monkey forest so you get to see monkeys and the boys have them under control as far as not hassling the guests. Nice and peaceful. Bed comfy. Nice hot shower. Breakfast yummy. Staff are helpful

AustraliaBathroom could do with a bit of a freshen up
Great little hotel very close to the main streets but with magnificent view onto rice fields surrounded by forest. Clean rooms, comfortable bed and sufficient air-conditioning. Friendly helpful staff and good breakfast. Really enjoyed my time here, would definitely come back.

AustraliaMy door did not lock but at no time did I feel unsafe. I had a lockable cupboard in my room and they organised to fix the lock on the main door.
Peaceful and serene until the frogs started up but being next to rice fields that was expected. I loved looking out at the happy cows grazing too. Adds to the serenity.

AustraliaThe owner seems to breed roosters which are noisy, especially in the rooftop room next to the family area. Minor complaint, otherwise wonderful.
Perfect position, 200m from the bottom of the main street. Quiet with no cars passing by, although caged birds on the property are noisy. Friendly family-run, lovely rice field Outlook. Monkeys on the balcony or patio.

SpainIt could use some updates here and there. And the breakfast could include local (Indonesian) food as well.
Quiet place (except when there are ceremonies in one of the temples) overlooking rice fields and the monkey forest, close to restaurants and shops. The monkeys even come to visit the hotel, so make sure you don’t leave the doors open (they are vey curious and always hungry).

AustraliaI didn't like having to leave. Will be staying for longer next time.
As a mature solo traveler, I found the Carik Bisma Ubud very safe, welcoming & quiet. My room was cool, spacious & clean, with all the mod cons & a huge outdoor patio area, overlooking the huge tropical blue swimming pool, rice fields & the Monkey Forest. The staff are very friendly & helpful, lovely Bali family run business. Walking distance to everything that Ubud has to offer & close to bars, restaurants & shopping. Big thank you to Nyoman Suarga for driving me around everywhere! I will definitely be coming back to stay.

United KingdomThe only downside, but not the hotels fault, is that the road it’s on is a dead end for cars, and it’s long, cobbled and narrow, so if you order a grab taxi, it’s takes a long time to arrive, 20 mins plus..! but it’s quick if you order a grab bike, as they can carry on and go all the way through an ally towards the monkey forest
This place is in a excellent location and has a beautiful monkey forest view from your balcony, many an afternoon I would sit for hours and watch the monkeys play on the fields or jump around in the trees, it’s close enough to everything you need, but quite enough at night that all you can hear is frogs and crickets.

New Zealandoverall it's a great place, but starting to look like it could use a lick of paint here or there and the sliding doors to balconies/verandah are really noisy :)
Location is great, with a direct view of the Sacred Monkey forest across some rice paddies from the hotel. reasonably central to everything else, jalan bisma and jalan monkey forest. cosily secluded from both streets at the same time.

South AfricaI loved everything, especially the sounds of the frogs, crickets and birds, as it is so close to the forest. If you like nature, this is the place for you!
A great place to stay in central Ubud. There are 4 ground floor rooms and four upstairs. The pool is sparkling clean and overlooks fields towards the monkey forest. It's located down a cul de sac, so is quiet and private, yet is within walking distance of a mini market and all the restaurants in JL Bisma street, and ten minutes walk to the monkey forest. The room was spacious and clean. A mini bar fridge, kettle and tea/coffee was provided. The staff were all super friendly and very welcoming. Monkeys visited the garden once during my stay, so it's recommended to keep any food inside and not to leave the doors open unattended.

United KingdomIt doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's not a flashy, exclusive hotel but maybe a few upgrades might help.
Fabulous room (number 10) with extra large balcony. Very relaxing environment overlooking fields with cattle, egrets and the iccasional monkeys from the adjoining forest. If you want to get away from the high energy of Ubud in a no frills hotel, this might be a good choice.

IndonesiaThe bed linen has holes; it would be good to replace it with something a little fresher and more presentable.
Good location, in a quiet spot but centred. The room has a perfect view on rice fields and the balcony was big, we liked it. Staff is friendly and helping. Breakfast was included (two options to choose: eggs or pancakes). When you enter the hotel you pass the house of the family that lives nearby. There were a lot of roosters and hens crowing loudly, at first we thought that they would disturb us. But in the end we did not hear them.

United StatesRooms are quite basic, but within expectations for the price.
Amazing location, quiet comfy hotel. Monkeys will probably visit at some point. The hotel is old and simple, and you will find lizards on the walls, but the AC works great, rooms have a nice view of the fields and forest. Also, the location is perfect! Short walk to the monkey forest and the main streets of Ubud but located in a little corner away from any load bars, clubs, and traffic.

CanadaThe property is located/attached behind a residential compound that houses a few dozen roosters. The curtains could be changed into newer ones.
The rice paddies' view was serene and calming in the mornings. The neighboring monkeys would come close to the property, and it was a joy to watch. They kept the hotel surroundings very clean. The staff were very courteous and attentive. The banana pancakes were delicious!

My favorite experience in terms of views. Every day, I could see 4-5 cows feeding themselves in the pasture in front of my balcony. Several monkeys jump from branch to branch and sometimes come to the property to say hi. I found it magical and unique.
