Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainFood in the restaurant slightly overpriced but there are a couple of local warungs nearby with great food so it is not a problem at all.
Beautiful rooms and shared spaces, you can see the owners have put their heart and soul into it. Very pleasant pool and plants everywhere.

That it's owned and run by people and not a corporation. Loved the simplicity of the property. Beautiful setting. Local people. Fisher people. The food was delicious.

ItalyUnfortunately our mattresses were old and unconfortable. We got a bit unlucky with the room number as our door didn't close and we didn't have a veranda like others. It was hard to get used to the tokay geckos.
Food and drinks are really amazing. Location is beautiful. Alain and his team are remarkable hosts and they will help you organize your days in the best way possible. You can truly disconnect and unwind your mind. Snorkeling trips are super. Great value for money.

EstoniaThere is nothing to add here :D For us it was the best place ever.
Very romantic place where to stay- beautiful bangalos with great view to the see. It has the perfect balance of wilderness and comfort, exotic and homely in the same time. Bangalos were rustic, stylish and private. Restaurant had a very nice ambient with great music, wooden furniture, dim lights and sandy floor. Food was very good and portions here are rich. Selection of different food and drink is good and pricing fare. Staff was very frendly and service quick. There is also common "livingroom" on the terrace with comfy seating- good place to have a little chat and a drink with fellow travelers. There is also a swimming pool. I would come back here at any time.

United KingdomLeaving!
We loved this oasis on Gili Gede, Alain and his family have created a beautiful place to while away your days surrounded by nature. We loved the pool under the stars, hanging out on beanbags, eating the delicious food with our toes in the sand and sampling many of his fabulous cocktails. We slowed right down to island pace! There are also several really decent little warungs nearby when you venture out. The rooms are also beautifully spaced out around the garden and have everything you need.

AustraliaBed was very hard. Had to walk a way to get to a spot to swim/snorkel. No aircon in rooms so we were hot sleeping ( had a fan which helped) We were very disappointed about the amount of plastic rubbish all over the island ( Tanjungan was clean however)
Beautiful little bungalows that were clean and comfortable, with wonderful views. Brilliant staff who were so friendly and helpful. We ate there both nights and the food was great ( especially the Rendang beef curry) Breakfasts were good too. We did a snorkelling trip one day which was good)

United KingdomI could have done with air con.
Gili Gede is lovely. My first time in Indonesia, I headed there directly from the airport. It was a great travel recovery place. Tanjungan is a very small village. A 30-40 minute walk takes you to the bigger two villages at the narrow part of the island (the waist), one on each side of the island, coast to coast walk takes 10 minutes. The accommodation is lovely, the staff were ever so friendly and helpful and the food was very good. It’s a very laid back place - in my 3 days the number of tourists in the village was always in single figures! The two bigger villages, maybe 20 tourists. From here I’d recommend - explore the island on foot, 1 day. Snorkelling private boat trip 1/2 day £11, 3 or 4 islands, blue coral, turtle, views of Mt Ayung on Bali Rinjani in northern Lombok & Kayaking, 1 day (I didn’t have time).

NetherlandsNothing, it was perfect!
Our stay at tanjungan was lovely! The room was superb, with a very romantic atmosphere. The owner helped us to get a boat to take us on a private snorkeling trip (we were very last minute but that was no problem for him as he helped us arrange it anyway). In the evening you can watch the sunset from the hotel restaurant and there are a lot of food options. The staff is very kind and the pool is also nice.

AustraliaTanjungan is the kind of place you dream about when you think of a laid-back island escape. The vibe is so relaxed, with a natural charm that makes you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. One of the real highlights is the kitchen— seriously impressive. Every meal felt like a treat, with fresh, flavorful dishes that matched the setting perfectly. And the staff? Absolutely lovely!! Warm, welcoming, and always happy to chat or help out with organising activities. The perfect mix of island comfort and genuine hospitality. We’ll be back!!!

United StatesTanjungan felt like one of the few clean, rubbish (plastic) free areas on the island. Thank you Alain for such a welcoming spot. Unfortunately much of Gili Gede isn’t so pristine. It’s a shame. It made me never want to leave our little slice of paradise.
I knew immediately upon arrival that I was going to enjoy my stay at Tanjungan. From the greeting at the dock, to the welcome drink, to our lovely accommodations, everything was smooth, friendly and felt like coming home. Alain, Ita and the ladies were all so genuine and full of giggles. I truly felt like I was amongst old friends. The food was probably the best part of my stay, that cheese plate!!!! Just go- relax and enjoy!

NetherlandsIt’s good to know that the rooms are not closed. There big open spaces where wildlife (mostly lizards) can come in. There a mosquito net for the mosquitoes, but you’ll have to accept the lizards. They don’t do any harm, but it might take some getting used to. Also because of the open spaces, there no AC. It cools down at night to a relatively comfortable temperature. Also there’s no warm shower and the shower itself isn’t much, but it does the job.
The hotel is located on a remote part of the island, so it was very quiet. Just what we needed. The rooms are cozy. You really get the island vibe here. I’d say the best thing about the hotel is the kitchen. The fresh/asian fusion menu is all you could want. Everything we had exceeded our expectations! Alain and his staff do an amazing job! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They make sure your stay is as wonderful as possible. The island itself wasn’t very special to us. There’s not much to do, but if your goal is to really relax, this place is what you need. We did go on a lovely boat trip to snorkel. That was beautiful. The coral and the sea life were better than other places I’ve been. I would definitely recommend staying here for a few days.

CanadaI thought there would be snorkeling directly out in front of the hotel and there was no water access. You could walk a path to a beach though. Food is a bit pricy but that is to expected since everything has to boated in. His cocktail selection is amazing
I thought the whole setting reminded of a TV show Gilligan's Island from my childhood. It was charming and covered all of my needs. Alian's staff are so sweet. Please note that there are alot of stairs and could be a challenge if you have any mobility issues
