Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

United KingdomThe cockerels next door could be a bit squawky during the night on some nights but that’s everywhere in Bali!
Putu was a wonderful host. He is a very calm and knowledgeable gentleman. He arranged a snorkelling trip for us to Menjangan island, which was fabulous and the highlight of our 4 week trip so far. We ran out of time to do the bird tour but it looked fantastic - he showed us some of the birds he’d seen. The rooms are ideal. Clean, spacious and comfortable beds. Air con works well. Breakfast is delicious. Very good value for money!! The fresh water pool was excellent for cooling off. He organised lifts for us into town/ down the coast at any time. There was a fridge for storing bits and kitchen facilities. Cool or hot water available any time from a dispenser. All made the stay very comfortable. We only wish we could have stayed longer !

AustraliaWe had no complaints, but maybe a mosquito net could be good just for that extra bit of protection.
Putu was a really kind host. He welcomed us immediately and hooked us up with a snorkeling tour. which was fantastic. He also offered a bird watching tour, which I did alone with him and this was really great as well as Putu is very knowledgeable and passionate about birds. The homestay is really lovely and well looked after. Putu has made a really nice garden there. You will be very happy just hanging out in the garden and enjoying the room, which is simple but nice. It's very close to shops and a really fantastic warung called Dapoer Chandra in which my partner and I ate many times. it's really good food for cheap. We also rented a scooter for a cheap price, and found it a good and reliable motor. My partner gets bad mosquito bites so Putu came every day at dusk to put down a mosquito coil. He's a really caring and attentive host without being intrusive. Absolutely no complaints about this homestay

SingaporePutis beautiful garden was a great place to relax in nature and there was a comfortable porch to watch the wild birds come into the garden to feed on the many fruit trees in the property. I loved the outdoor bathroom and the sounds of the village animals while taking a relaxing shower. I appreciate that there was a wash basin inside the room so I didn't have to go out to use the sink. There's a parking lot for cars and scooters. There's a nice Warung with good food just on the main road. Close proximity to Mejangan Island and Bali Barat National Park. Putu is friendly, hospitable and great with identifying local wildlife.

United KingdomPutu is an amazing host he and his family made me feel very welcome. The property is in the less visited part of Bali and is surrounded by small holdings. It is so beautiful in the area, I would recommend a driver or a hire car/moped if you wish to explore as the property is not very far from the main road, it is not a busy place. There are some lovely local warungs and shops nearby including some very nice eateries such as the Bali Tower. The national forest is not far away and you are pretty much surrounded by forest, there is a local beach like most of them is down a few ‘ less maintained’ roads but is worth the visit. Putu is a guide and can take you birdwatching and to see the black faced monkeys in the national forest. The rooms are simple, but comfortable and the AC is very good. About 20 minute drive away is Pemuteran a more tourist oriented village with a lot of very good dive centres. Be warned that the journey from Denpasar airport is quite long and can be exciting if you’re not used to Balinese roads and driving! Overall I have never had a better experience of friendliness care and not just being a visitor I felt fully at home. If you’re looking for 5* instragramable infinity pools this is not for you, but if you want to try and experience Bali before the tourists arrived try here it’s beautiful.

Italythe weather was very humid and hot, so for some days we spent the afternoon inside the room because it was the only place to breathe, aircon is working altough there is not much insolation, so it was border-line.
We enjoyed discovering the true part of the village, near local's houses and animals. Also close to hinduist temples: people is so kind. Puti was giving us many opportunities to discover the nature such as bird-watching and snorkeling: we only tried the snorkeling tour and it was the best spot in the world to see the real corals (full full of colour and life that I wasn't expecting)

FranceNothing, everything was good One detail : we came from Gilimanuk by public transport (50k per person), the frequency is low and unpredictable because the bus leaves when it is full, we dont recommand. If you want to move in the area, it is better if you have a motorbike
Putu was extremely kind and welcoming He arranged for us a snorkelling tour in Pulau Menjangan, for a good price. This will stay one of our best memories in Bali, it was the best snorkelling place for us (compared with Amed and Nusa Penida) The room is good, bed is very comfortable and we really appreciated the bathroom outside There is an excellent restaurant called Dapoer Chandra, 5 minutes away by walking, where we tasted the best Nasi Goreng of all our Bali trip One last detail : there is a washing machine available for clothes

United KingdomNothing! Everything was perfect.
Best accommodation we have had in our 8 months traveling. Putu went above and beyond for us in every aspect. This is the perfect place to stay for several nights if you’re wanting to explore the area / snorkeling / dolphins / beach. Putu recommended restaurants within a short walk and they were absolutely excellent also! You can see the love and care that goes into this accommodation. Rooms were spotless, great A/C, great power to the shower also which was a must for us after a day of snorkeling! Excellent breakfast. Scooter rental / tours / transport all available to book via Putu too. I can’t recommend this place enough. 10/10!

AustraliaThis property was a delight for nature lovers! It offered a welcome escape from the tourist crowds, providing a peaceful and authentic Balinese experience. The highlight for me was the abundance of birdlife in the garden. I spotted a variety of colorful birds throughout the day, and even Bali Mynas flitting around. I highly recommend booking a birdwatching tour with Putu, the host. Putu's knowledge of the local birds is impressive, and the tour was a fantastic way to explore the surrounding farms, mangroves, and beaches. Putu's guidance helped me spot a wider variety of birds than I could have on my own. Overall, this property is perfect for those seeking a tranquil stay surrounded by nature.

ItalyThis is just a general tip and it was my fault mostly, but don't order pancakes for breakfast in Indonesia! The dough is always always raw.
Staying at Taman Menjangan homestay by Snorkeling Menjangan was one of the best parts about Menjangan! The host Putu and his son were so kind and helped us get to Menjangan island via their tour trip (the best snorkeling experience in Bali!!). The house is nestled in a local neighborhood with many farmers who have lots and lots of animals. I loved the ambiance.

GermanyThere norhing we didn't like about our stay
Putu is an excellent and reliable host and manages the Homestay, which is like living on a Bali farm. You get water for free and you can use a washing machine. We were snorkeling with his friend Made and did a mangrove tour with Putu. Both tours were very professional with these friendly guides. We enjoyed our stay at taman menjangan very much and would recommend it to people who don’t need luxurious hotels and yet appreciate clean and homestays and like to experience the more rural way of life.

New ZealandThe AC wasn't very strong, and we saw a big spider in our room - not a dangerous one though, we managed to sort it out ourselves. The bed and pillow could be a bit comfier - it's 2 single beds put together, so there's a bit of a gap sometimes.
Incredible value stay - a yummy breakfast was included, and Pak Putu can organise a very reasonably priced driver, Bli Aris to pick you up or drop you off. There's a kitchen and a washing machine you can use, and there's a delightful restaurant/warung nearby called Dapoer Chandra which serves a wide variety of amazing Indonesian food at a great price. When you walk around, you'll see some pigs and cows nearby which is a cute surprise. We went snorkelling with Bli Wayan, organised by Pak Putu and it was the best snorkelling instructor we've ever had - he briefed us well, pointed out things to us, taught me a little bit of freediving. Definitely recommend doing that with them, they also offer bird watching trips or mangrove sunset tours.

IndonesiaIt will be good if the path / road towards the homestay has a street light. It become so dark at night, with barn around the homestay we really afraid we will hit someone's cattle or piglet 😂
Pak Putu was very considerate and caring. The homestay has everything we need during our 2 nights stay at pemuteran area. He also gave us the list of top rated restaurants around the homestay (when I say top rated, it is really the best warung, at least for domestic tourist). There is a kitchen with pretty proper tools and ingredients for us to make simple things and also we can do the laundry (no additional charge!) Make sure you also reserve the snorkling with him to menjangan

GermanyI can’t understand the very good reviews so far. The Homestay is compared to other places on Bali in the same price categorie at the best average. At first they gave me a room with mold in it and very run down. After asking I could change the room which was quite ok. The breakfast was average and the coffee a little less. I had to ask for soap and toilet paper. The garden is nice but the leaves stay on the ground. I asked twice for a bird tour but he couldn’t realize it. But told me later he made a tour with somebody. Everybody is smoking there strong cigarettes. I didn’t like the smell. All together the atmosphere was not for me.
The owner Putu is very friendly and helpful. He repaired my shoe and gave me plaster.
