Senggigi's Sunsethouse was a little hidden gem. I say "hidden" because it's tidily tucked away so neatly that our driver initially drove past the entrance. Once inside, the garden opens to a majestic seaside vista that offers unimpeded views of the famous Senggigi sunsets. Hence, the name of the resort. Our room was a most pleasant surprise. The double doors in our first-floor room opened to a private balcony that not only overlooked the lovely 20-metre pool, but also the broad, uninterrupted ocean views. A simple cooked breakfast was included in the package. The surrounding area is dotted with various resorts, restaurants and warungs, so there's no shortage of great places to eat. We also were able to find a couple of Sports Bars to watch our Australian football & rugby matches. De Upper Deck is a short 400m stroll away from Sunsethouse, whereas the popular Osceana Sports Bar is about 1km further down the main road. Senggigi offers a much quieter, more relaxed experience than the bustling tourist scene of Kuta, Lombok (one hour south-east of Senggigi). Some people might find the black sand on the Senggigi beaches a bit off-putting, but at least this stretch of coast is mostly calm & safe for swimming. We were most impressed with the openness of our room. The king-size bed was comfy. The simple furnishings were adequate, too. The bathroom was nice and roomy and this aspect also helped make our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Sunsethouse seems to run a skeleton staff until lunchtime, but all staff members are helpful and attentive. If we revisit Lombok in the not-too-distant future, we'll definitely stay on the Senggigi side.

Reception is unattended across the morning period.

    Property response:

Dear Mr. Paul, We are very happy to hear that you enjoy your stay with us. Regarding the lack of morning staff, you're right. It happened because during your stay, one of our receptionist had mother leave and it was high season, so our staffs had to run here and there. Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience experience reagarding this matter. If your travel plan brings you back to Senggigi, we look forward to welcoming you again.

Sunsethouse was surprisingly lovely. Surprising because in driving into Senggigi along the main street and then being dropped off at the front of Sunsethouse, everything looked very underwhelming. But once through to the room and the beach side of the hotel, it was lovely. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The pool was lovely; very friendly staff, and nice seated areas in the garden looking out on to the beach. The location of Sunsethouse versus the main stretch of Sengiggi is much more preferable and makes for a more relaxing stay. We chose it for a last few days of downtime.

It is a massive shame that Sunsethouse house is currently sandwiched between two building sites - damaged hotels on either side that are being renovated. With foresight we wouldn't have chosen to stay at Sunsethouse for this reason. The noise did impact our enjoyment.

Sunsethouse is a nice, small hotel right on the beach. The staff were friendly, and the room was nice - great to have a hot water shower, and the option of a bath. It is right on the beach for sunset views, with a couple of nice bars/restaurants along the beach. There is also a minimart with ATM just down the road, which is handy. Really friendly staff, and a nice peaceful place to rest and relax. I didn't use the swimming pool, but it looked really nice.

Some of the photos on Booking.com are out of date - the resort is much smaller now (as some other reviewers have noted). This didn't affect my enjoyment of my stay, but it would be good to get it updated so it's accurate. Would be good to have a safety deposit box in the room, but it felt quite safe there so wasn't a big issue. Would be good to have some more places to hang things up to dry e.g. towels and bathing suits. This wasn't a problem, but would be a nice improvement especially for people staying there for a few days.

Basically nice location direct at the seaside, good sunning bungalows, pool, store close by. Safe and big screen TV. I liked the huge teracce. Kind personal.

Compared to the pictures already run-down. No life in the neighborhood. Food pictures are also far away from the facts. Infortunately there are no international TV channeles only smart TV. It is not their fault, but there is an ongoing construction work next by with drilling whole day.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an exceptional experience. The location is absolutely perfect, offering a peaceful and quiet atmosphere that made my stay incredibly relaxing. The rooms are spacious and equipped with all the amenities you could need, ensuring a comfortable stay. The hotel is well-maintained, with daily cleaning that kept everything spotless. One of the highlights for me was the beautiful garden and direct access to the beach. It was the perfect spot to watch the sunset and listen to the soothing sound of the waves. The tranquil environment truly made it feel like a getaway. The staff were incredibly friendly and always willing to help. A special mention to the manager, who was very professional. I encountered an issue with a car company, and she handled it calmly and efficiently, doing everything she could to resolve the situation. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a serene and enjoyable stay with excellent service.

My room was very nice. Kingsize bad, good mirriors, large and nice bathroom and room. Personal was very kind and helpfull.

Neighbours were building their beachhouse. This made a lot of noice, whole day. When I liked to relaxe during breakfast or later in the day at the swimmingpool. Private beachside had often a lot of carbage from the sea. They sprayed huge amount of muskito poison in the garden when i was also in the area. This felt very bad for my health.
