Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt didn't bother us, but you need to climb 20-30 quite steep steps to reach the property. No hot water in the bathroom basin.
Exceptional location up a hill with a beautiful view and away from the traffic on the road below. Also below is a great cafe, Shaffa, for breakfast (none served at the accommodation). Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms with mosquito net and private outside area. Lovely small plunge pool with view. Lots of care taken with furnishings and decoration. A spiritual air.

IrelandThe bed was a bit uncomfortable, also the pillows were too high. We didn’t get hot water for shower any day (it is warm weather, so not bad). In general it is a bit far from Uluwatu town, like 20 min with scooter, and the hotel is on top of a hill and the road is not great.
The staff was helpful, they brought our luggage upstairs which was great. The room is fine and it there is everything around, like market, restaurants and ATM. The pool was good and they rent scooters there.

East TimorThe mosquitoes.
I like that it's very quiet and peaceful, it seems like it's far away from everything but you can access to the basic needs, i.e. restaurants, coffeeshops, small shops and money changer.

SingaporeThere are only a couple working plug sockets. It’s not really clear how the food / bbq system works there
The view and the suite itself are superb. I can’t say enough good things about the staff either, they are so helpful and really went out of their way to help when my son was sick.

United StatesLarger pool not included for normal rooms. Most of facilities were for the larger and extremely expensive rooms. The standards are smaller than most Asia hotel rooms and facilities were average at best. There is a small pool for standard rooms but it’s super deep and not relaxing.
Was a nice view and had really great staff.

Bulgariaonly negative thing were the centipedes and geckos which were everywhere inside and outside, but that’s something you need to prepare mentally for, they are everywhere in Bali anyway, especially in Uluwatu. The house is also located inside the jungle so you can expect that.
People working there were the nicest, whatever you need they will make sure to take care of. The house and the pool were amazing, very beautiful. Amazing sunset as well.

United KingdomIt is an incredibly steep climb up concrete stairs to get to the property, it’s worth noting if you’re not able bodied it will be difficult to get to the top. Truthfully, although not their fault, the bugs, bats, lizards and centipedes might put off the squeamish. The roof is made of bamboo and natural material so let’s in a reasonable amount of bugs.
The views were incredible, the staff was friendly and with a rented bike it’s not too far to get to the places of interest.

United KingdomIt was clean but not spotless however other than resorts, I think thats hard to find in general in Bali. It could be worth the money but I would say it isn’t fully at present.
I enjoyed the size of the room and the views. Sunset really was breathtaking. The staff were as helpful as could be but they aren’t on hand 24/7 so if this is something you need good to take into consideration. As are the stairs! Woie!! I’m fit and don’t mind an active hike but if you are not capable this is not the place for you. The smoothie shop is at the bottom of the property so even though they don’t serve breakfast, this place is awesome & a bonus being so close. There’s also a yoga studio in between the two.

RussiaLots of insects, so it is not a good place for people, who afraid of them. The location is pretty far away from everything, not a lot of cafes or grocery stores near the hotel, you need to go everywhere by taxi or bike.

AustraliaThe only criticism I have is that the payment for the room had to be in cash and nowhere did it say that on the website. I didn’t have enough cash with me so had to keep finding ATMS to get the full amount needed which was quite a stressful experience. I only stayed for two nights, and would not have enjoyed having to pay cash for say a week long stay. I didn’t feel comfortable carrying a large amount of cash on me. I also found the staff were a little unhelpful with this. There was also some building work going on which was a little disruptive.
The property doesn’t offer breakfast but there was a cafe a little further down that did really nice food, very chilled vibes. They also have cats on the property which was lovely, they are very sweet and friendly.

AustraliaI was hoping that the Shaffa / Smoothie cafe would be open later! I headed back one evening hoping to get dinner within walking distance but had to order something from Grab instead.
This place was awesome! Very quiet and scenic, was perfect for those that wanted to relax out of the hustle and bustle of the main area of Uluwatu. It is quite far away from the centre but if you don't mind a 20 minute GoJek in and out, this place is pretty perfect. Personally, I liked being on the back of a scooter at the end of the day. The staff were also super friendly and the rooms were very clean.

During daytime it’s not possible to work online because of the noise and at night time there in non stop banging next door which totally ruins the beautiful peaceful atmosphere and environment of hotel.

NetherlandsYou have to be aware of the staircase at the sunhouse villa. It’s very steep and you will be out of breath once you get to your accommodation. But the view and the house are absolutely worth it! 😄 The construction workers began to work at 04:00 AM in the morning on a sunday. The houses are very noisy, so you can hear everything. We don’t mind that the people are working or talking, but I don’t need to be hearing every lyric of The Weeknd’s album at 04:00 AM in the morning. We tried to contact the accommodation via Booking, unfortunately we never got a response.
We had a great time at sunhouse mandala village. The room and the view are absolutely amazing and we enjoyed watching the sunset from our terrace. The people are very polite and helpful.
