How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful place, amazing view, especially from the main pool, great restaurants and lovely staff, the menjangan island snorkeling trip is a mist (organised by reception upon request), it was fantastic, the spa is worth a visit as well. Nice bar at sunset just outside the hotel (kima bar). Thank you for such a great stay!
Nothing, wish we could have stayed a couple more nights… maybe a yoga class a bit later, I attended once at 7:30am, but would have gone more often if it was a little bit later, but still 10/10!

Verified reviewStunning location, excellent value due to access to the main resort facilities, whilst being secluded away in the cabins.
5 cabins share 1 set of common showers and toilets, which is not enough. Most people use them at specific times like the morning, before dinner etc, so you have queues.

Verified reviewthe property was well designed, clean and spacious. our girls loved their bedroom with the bunkbeds, the views were amazing from the master bedroom. the property could see both the sunrise and sunset from the roof terrace. The infinity pool was just a few meters away, had stunning views and usually empty so we had it all to ourselves. the kitchen was well equipped but you have to bring your own food as there is nowhere within walking distance to buy provisions. The hills surrounding the area were great to walk
more clothes hangers to dry wet towels and clothes

Verified reviewWe stayed at this hotel with high expectations. The villa itself is beautiful, with an amazing view. The staff were polite and responsive — they reacted quickly to any requests, which we appreciated. We also liked the natural greenery growing inside the room — it added a charming, cozy atmosphere.
Unfortunately, our overall experience was heavily impacted by several serious issues. First, the morning after our first night, we woke up with multiple bed bug bites. We moved to a different hotel, but apparently, the bugs came with us in our belongings. To be fair, the hotel covered the cost of dry-cleaning all our clothes and paid for a doctor — we are grateful for that. But the fact that there were bed bugs in a villa like this is shocking and completely unacceptable. Also, while the pool water was warm and pleasant, the bottom was dirty. And although the greenery growing from the ceiling looked beautiful, there were lots of dry leaves on the floor beneath it when we arrived — clearly, no one had cleaned properly before check-in. It felt like the room had been empty for days and wasn’t prepared with care. And finally, the bed. It squeaked loudly every time one of us moved — enough to wake us up throughout the night. Combined with the bed bug situation, it made for a truly awful sleep. What made this all worse is the fact that the price per night was quite high — significantly above the average in the area. We expected a premium experience, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. It’s a shame that such serious issues ruined what could have been an incredible stay. The staff tried their best, but problems like bed bugs and lack of cleanliness should never happen in a place at this price point.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations, especially as you noted the beauty of the villa and the friendliness of our team — which we genuinely appreciate. Please rest assured that we took your report very seriously. Our pest control team inspected the villa immediately after your departure and found no evidence of bed bugs. We also reached out to the next accommodation you stayed at, and they similarly confirmed no signs of bed bugs were present. Additionally, the doctor you consulted mentioned that the bites may not have come from bed bugs and could have been an allergic reaction instead. While we cannot be fully certain of the cause, we took precautionary measures and covered the cost of dry cleaning and a medical visit to ensure your well-being. As our villas are open-style and nestled in nature, leaves and natural debris can occasionally enter the space — especially on windy days. However, our housekeeping team cleaned the villa before your arrival, and we strive to ensure each space is prepared with care for every guest. Guests staying directly before and after you did not report any similar issues. We're grateful for your recognition of the view, setting, and team support. While we regret that your experience was affected, we hope future guests are reassured by our responsive actions and ongoing commitment to providing a safe, well-maintained, and peaceful retreat.

Verified reviewLocation and views are simply stunning. Property was adequate, Staff were super friendly and very efficient. Food and drink were alive average in their prices, but I guess they have a captive audience.
Cabins could have done with a fridge, a mirror ( for the ladies ) and a bedside lamp. It was noisy for large parts of the day (starting as early as 05:30) with the call to prayer at the mosques in the town

Verified reviewVilla design, pool, food in both restaurants
Serious interference from construction work. Workers walked within 10 meters from our open villa, incompletely taking away privacy and to some extent obstructing the view. Infrastructure such as roads, paths poorly maintained, no lights at night etc. But the price is at 5star plus level compared to five other locations we stayed at during our two mk ths in Bali.

Verified reviewBeautiful villas but not worth the money.
Have to pay extra for everything. This is not a hotel more of an airbnb.
Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to take a moment to clarify our concept for you and for future guests who may be reading this. Sumberkima Hill is not a hotel but a private villa retreat. Each villa is individually owned and designed for those seeking a more personal and independent stay, surrounded by nature. Unlike a hotel, we do not offer standardized services but instead provide access to facilities such as restaurants, spa services, yoga shalas, a small gym, and a lobby where our team can assist with excursions and transport—many of which are managed by local providers. This setup allows our guests to enjoy the privacy, space, and comfort of a villa, while still having access to curated experiences and services. We strive to create a retreat where guests can immerse themselves in the beauty of North Bali at their own pace. We appreciate your feedback and hope you were still able to enjoy the unique atmosphere of Sumberkima Hill.

Verified reviewGreat design. Large bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Spacious room. Very clean. It's great that they replenish drinking water every day. Huge pools. Also delicious food in 2 restaurants. Good spa. Everything is perfect - if not the screaming of the Iman at 4:30 in the morning. It was because of the noise that we left the hotel early. But I'm grateful to the managers for refunding the money for the days we didn't stay at the hotel.
In fact, the main reason for my low score is not being able to sleep because of the noise from the mosque. Iman starts shouting loudly at 4:30 a.m. It goes on for quite a long time, more than half an hour. So you wake up for sure. And it's really annoying. I understand that the hotel owners cannot change the location. But they should have warned about this noise.

Verified reviewLoved the location the view the suite, I loved the pools the naturistic vibes and the food was good and staff in restaurant were friendly. Everything looked quite new . A little construction going on around it but not noisy at all. I extended my stay I loved it so much .
The only disappointment was the check in staff are a little bit rude. They message you on WhatsApp asking when you are going to check out which is quite odd I thought . They say they need to know for cleaning reasons . In my opinion it’s not normal procedure. They make you feel like you cannot be trusted also as they need you to come and pay for things . Also had to book a time with me to check the mini bar even though I’d said I did not purchase anything. Anyways minor problems but not normal hotel/ resort behaviour…. Otherwise would have given property 10/10 .

Verified reviewThe Villa was perfect, stunning view, own pool excellent, would stay again. Staff very friendly. Attended a Jamu making class in family home of Ocho & Yuda, and ended up eating and preparing food with the family. It was a fantastic intimate experience we will never forget. Best Jamu we have had. Highly recommend.
We were unprepared for the size of the property and isolation from everything. Fortunately there was a free shuttle to take you to restaurants, lobby etc. Unfortunately one of us had a temporary disability which did not help and was quite difficult for them to get from the villa to the shuttle pick up point ( lots of steep uneven steps). The bay some distance from the property, with lots of activities was unfortunately dominated by fish farms which are polluting the waters and destroying the mangroves. The locals are attempting to combat this by replanting corals etc. You really need independent transport of you are staying at this property, Saying that it suited us to stay onsite and enjoy the perfect weather views & villa. Food at restaurants ok, breakfast great but mostly bland lacking flavour to cater for conservative tourist tastes
