The staff was extremely friendly, they helped me carry my heavy! luggage to the 1st floor and provided me with breakfast despite arriving too late. The banana pancake is out of this world!

The entrance stairs is a bit hard for people with lots of luggage but most places in the area has similar issue.

Absolutely nothing!

Despite its extraordinarily central location, it was a serene & peaceful oasis. The staff were very helpful & accommodating. The closeness to the Palace, market & great eateries all around was a bonus & the traditional architecture & buildings & family temple at the front of the property are a feature we really appreciated. As mature travellers, we appreciated the opportunity to sometimes use the easy alternative access from Jalan Hanoman rather than the usual steps to the impressively carved & painted entry. The property & the surrounding gardens within the compound were meticulously cared for. I have Coeliac Disease & the lovely young men preparing our breakfast took great care to ensure my breakfast was Gluten Free & safe for me. We were so pleased that we chose to stay at Sumantra Guest House & would not hesitate to return again.

This is a family run establishment within the confines of a traditional balinese house compound - the traditional part at the front of house is beautiful and welcoming, and the hotel itself at the back of the compount is modern. The rooms were spotless, the family / staff extremely helpful and welcoming, the beds comfortable, rooms large and location of the property was excellent. I would definately stay here again.

The location of the apartment is excellent—right in the city center and very close to many restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops. I loved the hotel vibe! It’s a small business, and you can truly feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere—everyone is super nice and friendly. The room was very clean and cozy, and the breakfast in the morning was lovely, served in a beautiful garden next to the swimming pool. Thank you so much—I really enjoyed my time there!

Sumantra had a very special feel about it. Entering from the hustle and bustle of main street in Ubud, you enter a beautiful garden and pool area, where it is very peaceful. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Loved my stay at Sumantra and would stay again.

Location is very convenient. Spacious room. Courteous staff. Gives a feeling of living close to nature with lots flowering trees, birds and squirrels. The ornate design of owner's residence adjacent to guest rooms allows a peep into Bali traditional home. Packed breakfast given for early morning departure is appreciated. Owner of guest house arranged for a vehicle for sightseeing and airport drop.

The shower head in my room could do with a descale to make it flow properly. But it was fine, the water was hot and plentiful.

The owners were extremely helpful and kind. I left behind an adapter and they loaned me one and were very responsive when I needed help with the Internet and had questions about the area. The location is right in the center of Ubud close to everything. Breakfast was tasty, the property is quiet and peaceful. The hotel is simple, but had all the necessities, hairdryer, toiletries, safe, fridge lots of power outlets

It's location was perfect, right in the centre of Ubud. Entering the hotel you go through a beautiful traditional Balinese house / courtyard. The gardens are small but lovely, attracting birds. The breakfasts are prepared to order, which helped greatly when one of us needed a Gluten Free diet.

The grounds are stunning and the owners really make you feel at home. The internet was having some issues while I was there but that seemed to be temporary. Luckily I didn’t need to use it much. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and look forward to returning myself. It’s in a perfect location. Very walkable with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes around.

Everything was great

I love this place, this was my second stay in this guesthouse and it's my favourite in the centre of Ubud. It's perfectly located in a popular street yet once you enter the door is like you are in a quite and peaceful heaven. The entrance is so beautiful with the traditional Balinese style, and the guest house is well mantained, with a beautiful garden and pool. The staff and owner are very sweet and supportive. Nice breakfast.
