Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI have a pool at my place and they are not putting enough chlorine in there pool it is a little cloudy always. Bathroom needs a very good scrubbing on the floor tiles especially at the basin. The drain in my friends room would not drain. The walls in the room need cleaning as there are big brown lines running down the walls in places. The front door mat is worn in half and thread bare so you can’t wipe your feet after coming out of the pool and entering your room. No ash tray on front balcony and the clothes hanger is completely snapped in half. It’s time they did maintenance on all the three back rooms. The price has gone up 50 percent but the cleanliness has gone down 100 percent. Always stayed at this place but my Indonesian wife doesn’t want to go there anymore.
It’s up the main street, straight up from the jetty. This is the central shopping, eating and mini mart area so absolutely convenient. They are set back from the main street and can’t be seen from the road so super private with only 7 rooms around the pool. There is a large warung at front that belongs to sister bungalow with excellent food and cold beer, this is right on the main street so you watch the world go by while dining.

AustraliaNo mat on the front porch for when you get out of the pool. I know this business will get them again because at the moment they are still getting the little things sorted from the lack of income from corona times.
Always stay here on Gili Air. It’s not the ritz but is in the dead centre of the Main Street opposite the short cut to the northern beaches and 300 metres straight up from the harbour. The place is always clean with excellent aircon, beds and staff. It has 7 rooms around a lovely pool setting. It’s at the back of the property behind the owner’s home so it’s private and peaceful. They have a large warung at the front on the Main Street that has a huge menu with cold beer. The warung staff will deliver to your room if you are to lazy to walk 50 metres to the front. Large Bintang was 50 000 idr and beef rendang was 50 000 idr when I was there 31st December 2023 till 2nd January 20024.

In the Main Street 150 metres from the harbour with only 7 bungalows it is quiet, private and intimate. There is a lovely pool and a restaurant at the front with local prices.

United KingdomThe shower pressure was awful. The pool was not clean at all, green by the end of the stay. The sun loungers were also very dirty.
Really great location, to the port, beaches , shops and restaurants. Spacious clean room and comfortable bed. A little patio to sit on.

GermanyUnfortunately, I also have to say that the place is completely run down. Nobody cares about maintenance. Overflowing trash cans in front of the bungalows, completely dilapidated cushions by the pool. The grounds and the bungalows are simply not maintained. My room hadn't been cleaned when I checked in. I am not picky, but it was so disgusting that I asked for cleaning supplies. I had to mop the floor four times before it was even halfway clean. I found used condoms, food scraps and dead cockroaches under the bed. The entire room was covered in cobwebs and dust. The bathroom, especially the tiles, had apparently never been cleaned. Had to sleep on my own towels, there were fresh blood stains on their sheets. I'm sorry to have to write this so clearly, but so many previous guests have written the same things, and nothing seems to be changing! The worst accommodation I've had in 9 weeks in Indonesia. I know, I booked a budget accomodation, as I do often, but even there you can expect a minimum level of hygiene.
Free drinking water, strong Wifi, AC worked.

United KingdomBefore we write the negative part of our stay I just want to state we do not want to damage any business we review, and always give a fair review of places, and use this section as an 'improve' section. So first off we found a dead huntsman spider in the room, and my partner is 'bugphobic',- and know we are in Asia and it cannot be helped so we ignored it, she then went into the bathroom a little time before bed and got greeted with a huge cockroach that ran towards her and scared her, so I disposed of it. I then said to make her feel more comfortable that we would just put the mosquito net around the bed, so as I was sorting out the mosquito net 2 huge dead cockroaches fell out of it onto the bed and freaked her out even more to the point we physically went looking for alternative accommodation at 11:30pm and couldn't find somewhere. So I calmed her down and we came back and I tried to sort out the mosquito net again and it repulsively smelt of dead rotting fish so we voted against it and instead bought bug spray from the mart and entirely fumigated around the bed, the whole room and the bathroom too and waited outside for 30 mins. After this was done, we did not see anymore bugs/dead bugs in the room. The mosquito nets definitely need taking down and washing to stop the smell and rehanging so I hope that the owner can do this as we do know that bugs are inevitable in Asia and some people (like us) want to use the mosquito nets to have a good nights sleep. Another thing we questioned was the thin duvet on the bed, it did not have a sheet on it, I don't know if it's usually like this or they had forgot to put a sheet on it. To me it felt unhygienic and we questioned if it had been cleaned but we cannot prove anything. If you have fresh linen on this won't be questioned, but it seems strange to wash the entire duvet after every guest? Lastly, the aircon leaks a lot.
The property is located just a couple of minute walk straight down the road from the ferry port, despite its central location- no noise can be heard from the central street (apart from call to prayer but that's everywhere on Gili/Lombok) the owner was great and he let us leave our bags as we arrived to Gili air early. It's also a very cost effective way of staying on Gili Air.

New ZealandI agree with the other reviews—the bathroom could definitely benefit from a deep clean, and the beds were a bit squeaky and noisy. However, despite these minor issues, I would still choose to return.
A heartfelt thank you to Hamsa and his family for welcoming us with such warmth and becoming the friendly faces we looked forward to seeing each day. You truly made our time on Gili Air unforgettable. The location is unbeatable—just a short 4-minute walk to the harbour and surrounded by numerous restaurants and cafes. Their on-site Warung, Green Chill, is conveniently located at the front of the bungalows. The pool, cleaned daily, was the perfect temperature, and the room’s air conditioning was excellent. The Wi-Fi and data connection worked flawlessly. While this isn’t luxury accommodation, the combination of its prime location, reasonable pricing, and the hospitality of the hosts would make us choose this place again in a heartbeat
