How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewWe loved the location, and the size of the resort. It was boutique small and set back off the street! The gardens were beautiful! Staff were so lovely and super attentive!
The bathroom was under stocked with the basic - shampoo/conditioner and a couple of the light fittings a little faulty. The breakfast was also a little underwhelming. We still had coffee and fresh fruit each morning and ventured out for breakfast usually!

Our TV wasn’t able to connect to any internet as staff said it was ‘old’ so we could not use any of the apps to watch TV in the evenings.

Verified reviewThe room was very nice. There’s a few nice coffee cafes up the road. We had a beautiful greeting on our bed “happy anniversary” which was a nice touch.
The pool was really as it doesn’t get much sunshine and acknowledging we travelled in Aug when it’s not the hottest!. The bath ceramic was old and peeling and wasn’t very inviting as it looked dirty. The breakfast was pretty average and the coffee was cold 🙄

Verified reviewWe enjoyed staying at Sense Canggu as it’s in the quieter part of Canggu with a beautiful 15 min beach walk to all the restaurants. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy the entire time. We had one issue with a noise complaint and they were more than happy to assist us in moving us rooms (with a nice little upgrade too which was perfect with lagoon access!) Cynthia and the pool bar staff kept us well hydrated and played some great tunes for us to groove too!! Thanks again for having us, we will be recommending to all our friends and family who want resort vibes but without the big crowds. You must ask for the Cynthia special (her cucumber cocktail was delicious) 💛

Verified reviewFacilities, clean bedrooms everyday and friendly staff.
We have been to this hotel 3 years ago and loved it so expectations were high. However, this time round it was not the best experience. When we got to the hotel, we ate at the restaurant and the food took almost an hour to arrive. When it did, the food was cold and steak chewy. Breakfast almost everyday took 30-40 minutes to arrive. Every time we called the reception, there was no answer. Staff is friendly but couldn’t speak much English.

Verified reviewSense had everything I needed, great pool facilities, good location, only a short walk to the beach. Room was spacious and the bathroom was so nice. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The spa facilities were great too. Loved my stay.
Larger bottles of water for the room would assist.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Our experience at Sense Canggu was so bad that we literally left the hotel early and booked a new one — that’s how terrible it was. We booked two rooms — one with pool access (which is just a shared pool, definitely not private) and one standard. Both were a mess. The pool was cold and shaded most of the day, and the standard room smelled musty with a shower that didn’t even work properly — barely any pressure and hot water issues. The real nightmare started with the hotel manager, Kila. She was unbelievably rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. She refused to accommodate even the smallest, most reasonable requests and treated us like we were a burden, not guests. Because of her horrible attitude, we decided to leave the hotel a day early. When we requested just a short extension of checkout time the next morning to move our luggage, she bluntly refused. No flexibility, no basic courtesy. We had to come back and collect our bags under pressure because she wouldn’t even give us an extra one hour. Truly the worst hospitality I’ve experienced in years of traveling. To top it off, they charged us for a fruit basket that was clearly marked as complimentary. When questioned, they simply refused to remove it from the bill — pure scam tactics. Breakfast was terrible — stale pastries, watery juice, and low-quality coffee. The hotel is also far from anything central in Canggu, so you’re isolated unless you rent a scooter. This hotel is all about fake Instagram vibes. Behind the nice photos, it’s a poorly run, unwelcoming place with a shockingly rude manager and zero customer service. Avoid Sense Canggu at all costs — it’s not worth your money or your peace of mind.

we were too old to be in the honeymoon suite opposite the swim up bar the music was loud from 10am -6pm. I found it really hard to get in and out of the pool.

When we went to check out they checked our room and brought down our bedsheets to the reception area. My partner had a few mozzie bites that had been bleeding. They held up the sheets and told us there was a charge of $100 + for this. When we tried to dispute this. They held our taxi up and males came from everywhere surrounding us until we paid the $100 +. I have stayed all over the world in lots of different accommodation types and have never experienced anything as disgusting as that. Would not recommend at all.

Verified reviewThe room was lovely and spacious. The location is about 5 min walk to the beach and there are good food spots there.
The towels at the pool were not clean with lots of stains on them. The pool couch area was not like the pictures. The laundry service is super expensive, it cost us €10 and when we got it back it was still wet! It would be much better value to get your laundry done in a launderette in the street.

Verified reviewThe property is really gorgeous, in a great location, the staff are so lovely and welcoming. Beds were really comfortable and the balcony views above the pool were so scenic. It’s so easy to get bikes into the more central areas as well. Such a safe place to stay.
The only downside was the sheets/pillow covers and towels seemed a bit worn and the bathroom amenities could have been a bit better like filling up the soap dispensers. But honestly we really did fall in love with the hotel and the people during our stay and this wouldn’t stop me from booking again
