How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewOur accomodation is located near jungutbatu, which is very conviniece for us to get everything we need.Once i walked in...feels totally like home...beautiful garden..big room...comfy bed and clean bathroom..no spots inside..well maintenance property...even i had chance to use the functional and well equipped kitchen.. The owner mrs wayan even helped me a lot to manage my bike that i parked in sanur harbour... I rented also the bike to strolling around the island from mrs wayan and surprisingly The bike already parked near the spot on lembongan harbour, so easy to use directly.. We will stay there again anytime we get chance to revisit lembongan island.

Verified reviewEverything. Very good location, close enough to town but quiet. Felt very safe. Incredibly clean homestay. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was big and clean, and free of mould. Kitchen was meticulously cleaned, and more well equipped than our own at home. To find all these things in one place in Indonesia is unheard of. We were so lucky to find Wayan’s place actor our time here.

Verified reviewVery comfortable room with traditional Balinese furniture. Great air con, no mosquitoes. Very peaceful location but close to the main street. Lovely staff. Full kitchenette, perfect for those planning a longer stay. The owner was very pleasant and helpful throughout.

Verified reviewI have loved the peaceful environment, also met some lovely people while staying at Sari Ayuning guest house. Birds and animals sounds of nature it was very calming.
The drainage in the bathrooms was not working properly, I guess it will need a bit of professional cleaning.

Verified reviewAbsolutely loved my stay here. The place is super clean, feels like your staying at your own house. The two ladies that worked there are so kind. And the location was close to everything.
The roosters will wake up up at 5am but its not the hotels fault

Verified reviewLoved our stay here! The room was so clean and the bathroom was huge with a hot shower that had very good pressure. Access to the fridge and water refill station was so convenient. The women who run the homestay are lovely and very welcoming. Our room was cleaned each day which was lovely. Excellent value for money.

Verified reviewVery clean and well equipped rooms and kitchen. There was drinking water available at all times which was great! It was a very short walk to the beach / boats / restaurants / cafe / fruit markets which was really convenient!
Our air conditioning was not working for half of our stay, this was disappointing as this was the main reason we booked to stay here. We were contacted by the owner towards the end of our stay and told it was being fixed that day and they would bring us fresh fruit as an apology which oddly we never received, the aircon was fixed though which was great.

Feels very much that you're couchsurfing since you're living with locals, but you're paying for it. So you're very much feeling in their space/routines. We didn't like that we didn't have any private space outdoors, very much activity outside your room, cleaning, doing offerings, cooking and chatting by the people who lives there. Kitchen is almost always occupied with offerings, which makes it difficult to cook. We booked a longer stay, and had to change our plans and asked for a refund, we were told regarding their policy that they couldn't make a refund because their policy said that they didn't allow it. However reading their policy it says no where that it's not an option not on booking or at their website, so very disappointing. We wouldn't stay again, but are sure some people find it comfortable.

We have to remind you that you did online booking first then you wanted to extend your stay and did offline booking for 1 month stay and we had to close our rooms on all online platforms which means one room is not available for a longer periode. We have also to remind you that our kitchen is shared and you are free to use. We required our guest to clean all the kitchen equipments after use for the comfort of other guest. Our staff clean your used equipments willingly. Regarding the refund, we kindly have offered you 500.000 IDR for a compensation for 2 weeks remaining of your stay but you did not want to receive and decided to stay for a full periode of your booking. Please notice that the refund is to comfort you while it is against our offline booking policy. We believe your review is based on not getting full refund as you asked for. We do our best to serve our guest to feel like home, quiet and clean. You have experienced your few days stay before decided to book offline.
